Bruh... highlight the WHOLE sample.. Command+A .. then quantize it... yes. it'll put warp markers on every transient. Saves you time with detune and sliding. Ableton is built for speed.
@@prodbymai It is better for a man to walk on the face of the Sun than to fall into the hands of the LORD. Jesus Christ has paid the debt of your crimes against Him in full on the cross. To be a man standing before Almighty God guilty of blasphemy is a lesson that lasts all eternity. Please think very carefully about what it means for you to tell humans they can compare to infinite power and claim His title. He loves you more than you can possibly fathom my friend, your life will be over before you blink and then you must answer to Him.
I started using Ableton at age 63 in 2 wks Ill be 67 this bruth right is a bright light for my learning. THANK YOU MAI.. I love your narration , but your idea really help me because you doing what I want to do. My biggest rush is to MASH cuts, Bob Marley and Isley bros....thank you :))
When sidechaining using a break it is smart to put a short click sample as ur “side chain trigger” and put the midi of the click sample on the snare and kick so that ur not sidechaining the noise or the hi hats from the breaks. This also gives u way more control over the release Time of the compressor!
I believe what he’s saying is to have a midi drum channel and mirrors the drum track, and use that channel for the side chaining, not actual drum track which isn’t as clean - multiple Instruments and effects etc.
“Ima show you how to use all the fun little time warping modes at the end of the video” Proceeds to not show us how to use all the fun little time warping modes at the end of the video
Honestly complex is the best though haha. You cant really do anything with them, it just tells ableton how to treat the sample when it warps it. Complex for any samples like this, beats for straight drum loops, tones for straight instruments like only keys or vocals, and thats about it. If you don't set the warp mode right, the warped sample will sound shitty.
@@cuhloudy I use it on a lot of basses and sometimes synths, you have to mess with the transposition, stretch the warp markers, and mess with the grain/flux to get a sick result.
Man! Your connection to music seems so natural, and the simplicity with which you presented what I've been trying to learn for years... simply a level above everyone else! Thank you !!!
Instead of going through the sample and locking each transient to the beat you might have a better initial result from trying to get the first transient that appears after 16 bars on-beat, then working from there. Depending on how on beat the performers in the sample were it could be the only transient adjustment you need to do at all. You can also basically do this when you're detuning the sample instead but with less precision obviously
@@simon5851 Hi , thanks for the reply. OK so if I understand correctly, it's a channel where someone uploads only soul track but it's not an automatic generator done by youtube or so?
Thank you!!! Someone finally shows the Kenny Beats style sample technique in session view!!!! Bout fuckin time!!! Im tired of being limited to simpler.Salute my dude!
@@helloitsme7919 copy the RU-vid link or Zelda then in the browser type "youtube to MP3" and don't get internet aids in the process ¡Don't clic in the wrong download button! 😉😉
@@loco2loudhoodrichbctrill265 bruhhh for the life of me i had this sample's melody in my head for about 3 months and seeing your comment reminded me of the song where i know it from. it's isaiah rashad - sounds from sunday morning!
my ableton won't let me drag and drop samples. it says the samples are unauthorized. checked and people were saying to run ableton as a admin but idk how to do that on mac HELP!
Would love to see a video on groove pools and making unique rhythms in ableton! also maybe a video on adding organic sounding basslines to beats like in this one?
@@vekselthe4983 in ableton you can click "TAP" button to the left of the metronome to set the tempo, so he could've clicked that TAP button to the beat of the song to find the tempo instead of stretching it to the grid, however: I probably didn't realize, making this comment, that he already had his metronome set to the tempo he wanted (90 bpm, very popular tempo for boom-bap and old hip-hop using samples like this) Warping the sample using that detune setting at 2:43 to the speed closest to the grid/his tempo (90 bpm) is actually a pretty good idea to get the sample to correctly align with the correct set tempo, and then you can further edit it from there to make it perfectly fit the beat of your song.
I wish there was a way to reach out to you! You legit are the producer I hope to become. I started when my dad got cancer and he passed last September. I been in FL not really accomplishing much. I wish I could be mentored by someone like you. Just so talented and your taste in music is superb!
Fairly new at producing beats and damn dude, the way you explain things is so easy to understand. I have a difficult time with comprehension and you made this easy! Thanks!
Why did you skip the whole process from looking up clips to all of a sudden just having the damn audio??????????????????? THATS WHAT I NEED TO KNOW?!?!?!??!?!?!?
how sweet you are... :) . only i can hardly follow you are talking so fast - i am german and my english is unfortunately not perfect... after millions of stop and repeat - you could really help - thank you
how come after youtube to mp3 conversion, my ableton isn't allowing file to be dropped into audio file. It won't load in simpler...or in auido on mater..etc..???
I want your little treasure trove youtube channel you visited in this video. You really have inspired me to make beats after I saw your Jamiroquai sample video.
Beat sounded best before - "You got crazy".. around 6:35/7:12.. you could have done some variations on it and different sequences. But thanks for the tutorial. It really helps.
Unfortunately, you seem to skip steps that show exactly how to download (for those who don't know how) and how you actually got the sample into Ableton. To be honest, I stopped watching after that. Not a bad video, but for those of us who are beginners, this isn't helpful.
I have an old jungle track that used the jones girls sample. Hopa and Bones i think its under. Also, the background music in the intro is too loud, so it's hard to hear what you're saying. Wicked video though.
So I watched this video over a year ago and it made sense. Then I took a few courses in Ableton and realize that the detuning process he went through is totally wrong and unnecessary. Anyone learning how to sample should NOT BE applying and then un-applying DETUNE to lock the clip sample to the BPM/grid. Lots of other people have commented on the correct way to do this
Does someone know how he has that samplebox next to his sample with detune, etc... It's not simpler because that looks different, and if i place the sample in the view he is using, i have no detune or other edit features. Pls help me 😅
I'm brand new to Ableton, just started using it a week ago. I don't get why the YTMP3 part is needed. I arm a track in Ableton, load the video up I want, or the section I want, hit record in Ableton, play the video, then stop when I want. Basically I am recording directly into Ableton. I am on Ableton 11. Was this not possible before?
Hi. 🙂 Please, let us pray together. Dear God who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever in Jesus Christ's name we pray amen. 1 Corinthians 16:14 Let all that you do be done in love. Philippians 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. May all suffering end as we give thanks this day. May God's face shine upon us forever on Earth as it is in Heaven in Jesus Christ's name we pray for His name and for His sake. Amen.

Any thougts?
Alright so- I am totally new at this and in my 50's so be easy on me when I ask this question. How the hell do you load the song into Ableton to create the sample?
Find a song on youtube, google , “youtube to mp3”. Follow instructions of copy, pasting and downloading song. After downloading drag and drop into Ableton audio
bro... fire tutorial but I do not have the same clip options? as you, I straight up do not have that transpose wheel or the detune. I'm on ableton live 11, I've been trying so hard to just loop a sample but I'm just not getting it... please help
