I already know most of your tutorials content, but I watch-actually listen-anyway as your voice is so soothing. You may be the Bob Ross of the RU-vid how-to world!
thank you for being so clear and concise in your instructions. I do have a question though - when I save a template document in a shared folder ie dotx (ie one folder that is shared between team members for common documents) the template opens as the original template for all of us, rather than a new Word doc x ... is there something I can change in the document that allows it to open as a docx for others (ie only the creator can access it in its dotx format)?
Thank you for watching! Unfortunately, I can't be sure what is causing your issue. However, .dotx files are generally accessible to everyone when stored in a shared folder. So, you may want to ensure that your team members are opening the .docs by going to File > Home > More Templates > Personal (or Custom) rather than opening it directly from the shared folder. I hope that helps!
My Save As does not give me the option for Template... what am i doing wrong? I'm using a chromebook with Microsoft 365. I only get Save As, Rename, Download a Copy, Download as PDF, and Download as ODT. When I click on Save as again it just gives me locations for places to save. I'm also using the web version.
Thank you for watching! These directions are for the desktop version of Word. Unfortunately, Word for the web doesn't offer a way to save a new template.
That is a great question! You will only be able to access templates from multiple devices if your Templates folder is stored in accessible cloud storage or a shared server. If you are using a corporate Microsoft account, that would be a question for your network administrator.
Thank you for watching! I really appreciate your interest in my content! Right now, I publish a tutorial every Monday and share a "Tip Tuesday" graphic over on my Community tab. I am hoping to do a few bonus tutorials this summer, in addition to my Monday uploads. Have a great day!
Thank you for watching! Are you able to access the template options from the Save As dialog box, instead? You can open it directly by pressing F12 or FN + F12.
