We started doing this a couple months back. We got a few hmmms and haws from ppl bc we were shopping at Krogers. Everyone was trying to say it's expensive there, it's not worth it. But we've found that the stuff they typically put on sale are the things we buy regularly. Then I started using their digital coupons and they started sending me actual coupons in the mail. We went from spending $150+ per week at Walmart and HEB, to about $100 a week. Then on top of that, we use our fuel points and get gas for 30 to 50 cents less a gallon than anywhere else. And to be honest, this channel is how I learned to do this so BIG THANK YOU!

You really can’t beat Kroger when it comes to sales. Their beef chuck roast is ridiculously cheap with a Kroger plus account. And if you’re into using credit to pay for groceries in order to get cash back, they actually code as a grocery store unlike your standard Walmart.

@@curlyfryzzz1 Yes! We just got a chuck roast and a pork shoulder roast, each less than 10 bucks and we get 2 meals out of the beef and 4 meals out of the pork. Then their 10 for 10 deals are great or their 3 pizza for 10 bucks. We've been saving about 200 bucks a month shopping there now.

I can echo this experience. I was a big Aldi/Meijer purchaser, but I find Kroger a better deal when combined with the gas discounts. Our Kroger slashes fresh produce to insane numbers. I guess my neighborhood doesn't like broccoli? LOL. I don't know but my produce spending has dropped in half. I get weird responses because I don't think Costco or Wal Mart are good deals for us. Costco pulls me into buying random things and EVERYTHING is so big that I can't try something for my one kiddo that is picky without committing too much $. Not a fan. Wsl Mart near me has terrible produce, it is messy and disorganized and understaffed. Meh. If I meal plan, shop sales, coupons and clearance at Kroger, fill in what I can't get cheaply at Kroger with a monthly trip to Meijer (where I also get all kinds of discounts and coupons but the food clearance is pitiful) and Aldi (which is just plain cheap)...perfect storm of savings and then my gas is cheaper too. The Kroger gas really isn't a deal though, because it has so much ethanol in it that you only get like half the amount of miles you would normally get.

Kroger's can actually be decent! Like their produce markdowns! We have them and Giant Eagle, whonhas a new Flashfood program where they pull items close to date...and I check those out alot! And pop stuff in the freezer

My x-husbands ( yes I said x-husbands, I never learned my lesson) hated my extreme couponing and frugal shopping, unless I was spending the money I saved on them. My children didn't appreciate it either, until after they moved out. Then they were asking how I raised them on so little money. I'm a grandma now, and I still shop extreme and frugal. I've had the privilege of teaching many of my friends also. Yet I still enjoy watching Frugal Fit Mom and other channels. Because this old dog, can still learn knew tricks.

I live in Chile. There isn't coupons here, but my daughter calls me coupon maniac hahaha! Because of the H&H TV show. I always buy on sell and I buy all I can with my credit card to get points, and then, when I have enough points, I buy things "for free"... my 18 years daughter says that my signature sentence is "I bought for free" 🤣🤣🤣 and she loves it... she likes to buy for free too and she's always learning from me. The little one (10) is learning too. I think this is a very helpful skill to teach them for their life.

Because I don't drive and the affordable grocery delivery services are few, I do nearly all my grocery shopping at Albertsons. I love their grocery rewards system, and I save them up to get $7.00 off any meat purchased. Then I look for great sales and combine them with my reward cash. I usually only spend pennies on any meat I buy.

I do this with the deep freezer contents. Everything else has a specific# of items that can fit in its place, so those go on the list with how many to fill that spot. All done with sale ads of course.

Pasta at $0.88 a package is definitely a stock up price. I also pay attention to what shape I'm buying. I will only buy the packages that are 16 ounces. Some are only 12 ounces, depending on the shape. So if you're really watching your budget, buy the package that's a full pound.

The trick is knowing WHICH sales are at “stock up prices” and which are marketing gimmicks. I personally keep a price book to know what the going rates are in my area since, for example, I can’t remember the last time bacon was at $2.77/lb like you saw! When prices shift so much from place to place, you need to know what’s normal for *your* area.

And the best way to do that is to make sure you go into more than one store. If you only ever go into the same store, you might not notice they have higher prices on certain items. Even if you end up getting most of your stuff from one place, you have to check in with the other stores now and again to keep up with what their pricing is like.

Yes! This is so true. 88 cents is not a stick up price in my area for that pasta…it normally hits 49 cents a few times a year and I buy at least ten bags at that time. But for others that might be…also look for alternatives to get fresh items cheaper. We have a 99 cent only store and ranch market that sell produce super cheap and that’s an amazing place to hit up!

Keep in mind you can still buy the family pack that are often on sale even if you live a single life. I buy those and break them down into portion sizes. And put them into the freezer till I'm ready to prepare a meal for my self. Adding a dressing or a barbecue sauce to the bag before freezing makes a great marinade! All you need to do is defrost And bake. Or add it to your slow cooker this way.

Yes! There are only two of us here and I do this all the time. If I plan to add stir-fry sauce, I'll cut up the chicken into thin strips or bite size pieces so it's ready to go. Or slice horizontally to prepare for grilling when thawed. Not just a money saver, but a time saver too.

I'm single, and I do the same thing. Sometimes, I can do a small pack of meat -- such as boneless chicken breasts -- and stretch it by splitting the breasts lengthwise and making two from one. I don't care for thick cuts of meat.

I tried your way of shopping and it does work for sure !!! I found I was buying a lot of stuff I normally would not buy if it wasn't on sale. I have finally figured out what is going to work for my family. I bought 1/2 a cow and a whole pig from the butcher and I only buy dairy , grains,baking items and fruits and vegetables. I am cooking 90%of our food from scratch and we are averaging $431 a month feeding 6 people all the time and 8 people when the college kids are home. I have learned a ton from you over the last year. Tip: If your store shows an item on sale in their flyer and it is not available on the shelf be sure to go to your customer service counter. They can issue you a "rain check". This will allow you to get the sale price on a different week and you'll be able to stock up again. Even when it is back it regularly priced it.

I did that last week when they had a 3lb. Chub of 80/20 ground beef on sale $1.97/lb. Bummer on the one limit though! I didn’t realize the rain check was good for a month so that was great since I live in the country.

Yes this is a great way to prolong the sale ...buy one day and then even go on the last day of the sale for the popular items and often they are all sold out so can get rain check ..So glad our stores have FINALLY brought them back in last few months

I’ve been doing this for the 40 years that I have been married. I learned this from my mother because we weren’t wealthy, had four kids and my father worked in a factory. My father would go to the Hostess Bakery outlet on the way home from work and froze all the bread he purchased at a discount. It’s so sad that so many people never had this skill handed down to them.

Great tips! I’ve been shopping this way for 30 years, it’s how my parents shopped too. My biggest tip is to buy enough of what’s on sale to last about 6 weeks, cheese for example, because the sales go in cycles and the sale price will come back in that time. I hate to pay full price!

When something in our pantry or freezer is getting low, we watch for those to go on sale. We date it, rotate it, and it helps. The pandemic really helped us see the importance a larger pantry and shelf life. It also helps if a month with a lot of unexpected expenses come up, you can eat from pantry and freezer. Good video!

Some Kroger wisdom I gained yesterday. I was perusing the frozen seafood and saw a sign that the lobster tails were on sale. 2 in a pack, priced at $12. The sale sign said they were $6ea. Well one would assume the two pack was one sale for $6. No, no. I bought some, they rang up $12 a pack. I went back to the meat section to double check the price with an employee. He explained the INDIVIDUAL lobster tails were on sale for $6 a piece and since it was a two pack, the price was $12. We both agreed that was a dirty way of doing things, but he couldn't do anything about it. Money Saving Tip always double check the price of items when you ring them up.

Many years ago, before RU-vid, I read a book called The Tightwad Gazette, where she recommended a “price book” so you’ll know when you see a good price on something in your area. It’s in my head now. I usually hit a different store on my way to work in the morning and pick up the stock up items. Thanks for all you do. This video is so important to a new generation of frugal moms in the making.

My husband and I work in opposite directions. I scan our local stores ads the day they come out. Then I ask husband to stop at the stores he passes on the way home and I stop at the stores I pass. Marginal amount spent in extra gas this way. I try and ONLY pick up what I stopped for because that's where they get you!

Thank you for sharing! I personally is living alone and I normally practice “veg of the week” and “fruit/berry of the week”. I have been loving salads for a long time now, so I do have more volume of different variations of veg, but this is what my thought process is. I look at the prices and the quality and choose a veg and a fruit/berry as my main snack/side. I have green grapes for my snack this week for fruit/berry, but I also have frozen fruit and berries, some fresh strawberries and bananas. Snap peas are my main veg for snack. I am Norwegian and we have a deal going on for 30% of all fresh fruit and veggies for some weeks at chain store like Aldi. A less expensive store. It ends on Saturday. The store I normally use for veggies has been closed for a rebuild and open up again today. I have been watching the app, checking Facebook for the particular store, but nothing about something more special. I come today and it was not 30% off there, but 40%! This is just right off when paying. I come home from the hospital today and had to start over with the fresh stuff, and I so enjoyed myself 🤑🥰🤣🤩 I could buy several cucumbers, pack’s of grapes, and snap peas, and also some strawberries in less quantity, and so much more 🥰🤑🤩 So happy and blessed 🙏🏼 So nice to could share it with some people that would get the excitement, as I know people will do here ❤

Had the best Payless/Kroger savings today. There is a vegan close out on frozen proteins. Original price for one bag is $4.99. Close out price was $1.25. IF you bought 5 or more EACH BAG WAS 0.25¢! I bought 9 bags. So the total went from $45 original price to $2.25 walk out for 9 bags! I was screaming with joy in my head and thinking of you and your videos!!!!!!!!!

Hi Christine 👋 I've been playing the grocery game for almost 20 years now. I get frustrated if I have to pay full price for anything. 😅 After a few months of shopping this way, you get used to how much you can use before the item goes on sale again. Most things go on sale every 12i(sh) weeks.

You bring up a GREAT point! Grocery stores have a cycle or rhythm to their sales and loss leaders. Their sale flyers will lead you to believe that THIS IS THE BEST DEAL ALL YEAR, but in reality, for non-perishable/canned/frozen items, it'll be back around at a good price in a few weeks. It's also helpful to know when seasonal or holiday items really are at their best price. Ex. St. Patrick's Day is this month so corned beef and potatoes are cheap right now (in New England). Easter is next month so ham will be the loss leader at a great price. Then in May there's Cinco de Mayo and Memorial Day -- stock up on Mexican food items and grilling items. Once you understand the rules of the game, it's easy to win! 😁

So funny . Never knew the kids went grocery shopping. "Glad to see them". Yes I made that bacon sale. I break my packs down since it is just the two now. Just had bacon and egg sandwich for breakfast. Yum. My freezer is maxed out. But always Wild caught gulf shrimp, bacon, chicken, ground beef and pork. Last week blueberries were fresh and on sale froze in one cup bags for muffins. So easy. Thanks Christine and supporting cast members.

I buy bacon when it is on sale, stock up, then the next day I take a couple pounds and fry them up to all but done. I use my traeger to do this but can use the oven too. Then after the bacon is cooled off I pack it in a container and freeze it. When I want bacon I pull out what I want and stick in the micro wave 30 seconds or so and whola....fresh bacon fast. I learned this working in a cafe and have done it forever!! Hope this trick help someone.

We cut the pork loin into boneless pork chops! Costco recently had the pork loin for $1.99/lb with an instant coupon of $4 off per package so we found the two smallest and cut/froze pork chops for the year!

This was good grocery shopping tips. Inflation proof the second biggest bill in the home after housing. Food is hundreds of dollars a month. Store hopping the sales ads weekly will save money. If you aren't used to split breast or leg quarters are a solid option for 2023. New brands on sale and store brands for staples are gonna save lots of money.

I started to actively search out clearance deals at my local Kroger this week and snagged 2 loaves of their private selection bread for $1.20 each as well as a package of their buns for $.99 and 4 32 oz. jars of MIDS pasta sauce that is normally $5.49 each for $2.20 each. Thanks for the heads up on the clearance items sometimes being in the aisles, because that where I found that deal. I also was able to snag 5 vacuum sealed packages of organic grass fed beef, that was normally $8.49 each for $3.40 each on clearance and I just tossed those right in the freezer. Thanks so much for helping us save money on groceries!

I have been keeping up with your videos for about 2 years now. I have implemented the WooHoo shopping method with matching coupons to sales and looking even more for those clearance items. LOVE YOUR STYLE. Thank you for all the tips. Every Tuesday AM my Kroger has HUGE markdowns. I have to go by 9 am. Seniors love this. I bought 14 days of meat for $51 and produce for $18 and 1 loaf of Kroger Bread for $1.00 with coupon. Add coupons to balance and I paid before tax $54.17. WOOHOO!

I appreciate your videos. This is how I've shopped for 40+ years & I'm not stopping now. So many folks whine about affordability - if you restrict or avoid eating out & fast foods & shop the sales & discounts, clearance and have a stockpile of frozen, canned goods, rice, flour, etc, you always have food in a pinch & never have to come near paying full price on food and groceries. This is a Great way to educate people.

I've been shopping this way for 30 years. Even when we were just starting out and not making much money, we sure ate WELL! I will never shop any other way. Sometimes people can't understand why I get 30# of chicken or 5 tubes of toothpaste. I try to explain it's because it on sale 50% and the toothpaste is free... This way I don't need to go buy it a full price when we need. I also used to get a lot of laughs and confused looks when people would see 4 24 roll packs of toilet paper in the basement. When the pandemic hit, nobody was laughing anymore lol.

We dont have those special money saving leaflets/offers etc in UK Food prices are increasing, almost double now. I can only shop the clearance and cook/batch cook accordingly. I was shocked at chicken wings now £5, they were 85p for exact weight pre pandemic/Brexit etc Scary times for great tips! Thankyou 💞

Goodness, my ultra shrewd depression era mother taught me this as a child. It becomes fun, like a game to try and get the best deals! Add canning into the formula and then you can really build up a pantry! I buy summer produce in bulk when it is very cheap and can, can, can. Carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, all kinds of tomato products, peas, beans, and lots of fruits. I also preserve meat and cheese by freezing and sometimes canning. We are so blessed in the US to have wonderful choices at good prices. It just takes a little planning to make the most of it.

Since Winco doesn't have ads, or digital coupons in some areas, I go old school and write down the deals at Fred Meyer and Safeway. Then I compare at Winco. 75% of the stuff on sale elsewhere is also on sale at Winco. I just got the roasts that Safeway and Fred Meyer had on sale for 50c cheaper per lb at Winco. Then I only buy the things that are cheaper than Winco at the other two stores.

I’ve learned this from my mom at a young age as well as from my FACS teacher. When you grew up in a food desert you learn these tricks and tip. Now that I live in a community that has multiple stores to shop at you shop the ads and get the best price for your bang. I’ll stop at 3/4 depending on the week. There’s up to 8 different stores a person can shop at that’s including like DG and DT. I’m even counting Sam’s in my count.

I've shopped the reduced meats for years and years now, a lot of people won't buy them, find out which day the grocer puts it out, mine usually put their reduced meats out after the weekend shopping is over. Today I saved 123 dollars on meats, all at either buy 1 get 1 or at 50% off, it was healthy size portions for a family of nine and will last for at least 2 weeks. That was at 1 store, I got chicken, pork and beef. I usually do more than one store but didn't have to today. SCORE !!

This was so well shared. I started shopping this way in 2018. I remember watching videos that TRIED to explain it, but I kept thinking, “Ok… but you still have to fill your pantry back up.” After a few weeks of doing it, there was the big “Ah ha/I’m an idiot, I get it now- you’re buying everything on sale.” 😂 Definite convert. But I remembered thinking that THAT part of it was never explained well. Excellent video.

Also if you buy bone in chicken save the bones and skin after cooking and put in the freezer,you can later take a bulk baggie of it out and simmer in a pot with water and make bone broth fr future soups etc. Also keep your onion ,carrot etc. skins for veggie broth or throw those in with the chicken scraps. I put my frozen scraps and drippings in an electric roaster or crock pot. There are lots of videos that will show you how easy it is to make. Very good for you. Strain it,let cool completely then divide in quart freezer bags and save for soups,gravy or to sip on when you aren't feeling well.

I rarelyr buy anything that isn't on sale.Meat deals go into the freezer. Canned goods go into the pantry. I base my menus on the fruits and vegetblses that are the deals of the week and pull from the freezer and -pantry. We eat rice and beans, but also shrimp and steak. What a great video, Christine! I pretty much shop the same way as you do now. My husband and I have a more keto approach to our diets, so we are eating a lot of meat. Therefore, I do not buy meat unless it is under $2 a pound. It keeps the grocery budget lower. Yesterday, I scored chicken leg quarters for 60 cents a pound (clearance sticker) and fresh pork loin for $1.50 a pound (buy one get one free sale). For the win! :D

Hey! I've been watching from near Vancouver, Canada for a few months now. This is the only way I've been able to feed my family of 3 for our 500 a month budget (we pay about twice as much here for everything before even working out conversion rates). I committed to trying this out last night. I spent time to go through the sales ad for my store to find those sale items. I was shocked at how much I saved yesterday! I spent $167 for nearly a solid months worth of proteins and about two weeks of other groceries, but the kicker was I saved $74.12! That has never happened. Thank you Christine!!!! 🎉

I have a big chest freezer. I have a list of everything I put in there. If I take it out I cross it off. That way I know what extra leftover meals and things are in there. Otherwise stuff gets lost at the bottom. If I am planning meals for 2 weeks and buy meat in larger packages , I weigh and separate it. Then I put it in freezer bags and write on the front what meal it is for ex. Meat loaf. Then when I put it in the freezer I write meatloaf meat on the list so it’s ready to just take out and defrost.
