Also on dimensional lumber you can multiply the (height x width x length) and divide by 12 = Board feet, no conversions necessary, works on any size lumber.

@@ColfaxMathI was taught minus 4 then times that number by itself gets you the board feet of a 16 foot long log as your first log 9 minus 4 you have 5 then times 5 you have 25 bf. 6th generation logger and lumber person great video. Logged most of my life 17 years grading lumber here from southern Ohio

Did you figure out how many board feet of finished milled lumber you actually got from those 3 logs versus the scaled figure?
@ColfaxMath

No I didn't, I will next time and make a video of it

You gain bf on a smaller log and lose on a bigger log the reason is the number of cuts to work it down to Lumber

Doing what he is doing, would take all day to measure a load of 30 logs. Who handles 21 ft lumber or 15 ft lumber. I used international scale . Much easier.its all on your measuring stick

True, certainly not for commercial logging. This is what I did when I cleared and logged my lot

It's the US Tape loggers tape. Good for construction as well. I think I have a review video for it on my wood channel Topsaw if you search Topsaw protape review

I don't know, it's hard to say,transport costs are high, the mill won't take them unless a Forester has done the paperwork for them.
