I am showing you some scores for real films I have worked on, with some ideas of how to approach different film scoring scenarios. We're going to cover two different films, with two different solutions for how to have solo piano against dialog, without interfering with the audience's ability to hear words.
I give some ideas about orchestration, where rubato piano fits notes in between dialog. Another solution is to create a hypnotic, repetitive type of musical passage that lets us as humans psychologically ignore the notes and just process the emotion of the music with the dialog.
