Glad you enjoyed it. we need to do are part to teach the new guys what we know and make it more fun for them, before they hit their thumb with the hammer
I've never had the caps of the ceiling fan come off easy. I usually beat the hell of of them with the claw end of a hammer. I don't have a vice so I place a screwdriver in the hole of the opposite end of the screwed on piece and turn with my hand, usually comes off pretty easily.
I just did this last week, found a cut off wheel made real quick work of it! Just sliced it on the top and pulled 'me out the bottom. Did the outside ring first, cut the bearing piece off and then took out the inside ones.
You missed my favorite tool the Air chisel. I think that's honestly the fastest one I've seen you use uh-oh now you know how long I've been watching your channel.
the air chisel does work very good for cutting the copper and pulling it, I should have shown it for the cutting part for those that may have an air chisel. but as you know I did this for the new scrappers
After cutting the copper. (which you Showed me on a another video.) I had found using fencing pliers works well to pull out the copper. My scrapyard tells me the arms on the fan that holds the blades are zink. Which they consider it be dirty aluminum. I really don’t know so I just roll with it.
that is for sure, I run my add from March to October and now is the busy time for picking it up so I do most of my cleaning in the winter November to February
@@Okiescrapper absolutely right but I got sidetracked and forgot the question I had for you. The windings came out a brass color. It wasn't coated aluminum wire like a microwave I once stripped this is a brass color all the way through. Is it yellow brass or something else?
@@mattyal9347 sounds like it may be brass wire. I did a google for brass electrical wire this is about all that I found www.snakeheadvintage.com/brass-metal-braided-cord-round-3-wire-cable-per-foot/
@18:53 you knew what type of metal it was just by feeling it?? I guess that comes with experience, but I feel so slow trying to figure out different metal
aluminum is lighter and sometimes you can tap it with a wrench and the sound will give it away, some times it is hard to tell if something is aluminum or plastic, I have to grind into it, the more you do it you will be able to tell, it comes with time
Is bronze worth anything I figure to ask you sinse you do this daily basis I have a few it's like brass but week on the magnet side by means stick but not strong at all
the yards that I use if a magnet sticks at all they call it shred so I would say it's not worth any thing, but I would check with your yard, you never know about their buyers
is that like saying that the scrap and pallet man has already done a curb scrapping video? there are only so many things a person can scrap and sooner or latter they will have to repeat videos, and a lot of people don't go back into the archives to see what I have already made videos of. and always new people coming to the channel for the first time. I have made a few videos of washer and dryer break downs and I will do some this winter too. if I only did videos of things that I haven't done yet there would be very few new videos
as is it would go as shred about 7 cents a lb. the copper is $3.50 a lb. so after tearing it apart I still get the 7 cents a lb. plus I get about a half pound of copper for about $1.75 not a lot but it will add up after a while
