I was recently asked to make an extension production and printing video about fleece hoodies. I figured we would combine screenprinting fleece hoodies and sweatshirts into a longer video about fleece garments. Previously we did a quick tips video about fleece in general but now we are diving in for a much deeper look at setting up a zipper hoodie pallet and screen printing both a hoodie and a crew neck sweatshirt with a 1 color gray ink on dark garments. These were 100% and 50/50 poly cotton blend fleece products. Here we will discuss off contact, pallets, zippers, and how the more cushy and tight knitted fleece prints. This is the ultimate screenprinting tutorial video about doing sweatshirts and hoodies during the fall or winter. I want to thank you. I encountered a registration problem. After re-visiting your videos I discovered the answer to my problem. Simply running the hoodies through the belt dryer solved the registration problem. Thanks for creating these videos.

You can smooth your power tape out with your plastic card, spraying window cleaner before putting your power tape on the board. It doesn't remove the sticking properties of the tape. It's quick and a 100% accuracy fitting to your board. If that comment makes sense. I'm not english.

Yes, I get it. It is application tape so yes you could do that. I would do it maybe on metal pallets but MDF may not like the water much. We use a mildly soapy solution for that purpose here. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/

I did some more research and actually found out it's a vinyl material decal print. I saw an Adidas jacket that described it as rubber. There isn't a lot of information on how to do it. If you know anything about applying decals to clothing it would be cool if you made a video about that.

Thanks for the tip on pre-shrinking in the dryer! Wish I'd seen it before I printed my first sweatshirt...I've washed and dried it and it seems okay though :) How long would you suggest in the dryer and at what temp? And can you do this with t-shirts too? Will it raise the fibers on the shirts?

@narutopenguingirl- You’re very welcome. You can run them the same as if you were curing the ink. It shouldn’t raise fibers but I suppose it is possible. Test one first and see if it is an issue. CatspitProductions By the way, when I say dryer and you say dryer, I think we mean two different things. I'm a fairly new screen printer without a conveyer dryer. Can I pre-shrink my sweatshirts and tshirts in a clothing dryer? And, why would you pre-shrink tshirts for multi-color projects and not single color projects?

For a little chest print like that couldn't you just use a sleeve or leg platen and hang the zipper off of the side of the platen?

im finally going to print some hoodies with no zipper tomorrow i was wondering when i place the hoodie on the pallet, and i pre shrink it, i pre shrink it when i put it on the pallet with the web adhesive then pass it threw the flash dryer before i print anything right?

@Jonathan J - Yes you can shrink it right before you print it with the spray tack down. You can also do them all at once with a bare pallet and run them under the flash then restack them for printing. Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate your support!

We don't have a fancy belt dryer. What temp and how long do you dry the ink after application on a hoodie?

do you have to spray the Web tac after every fleece hoody/sweatshirt or can the first spray handle multiple?

LOL.... you may be surprised that I only have 1 house Cat ;) My love of Cats extends to big Cats like tigers, lions and leopards. They are the most dangerous predator known to man and the only known predator to actually hunt and kill man. So, no, I am not some crazy Cat person.....LOL. I like house Cat's but 1 is enough for me. And I really like mine the best of course. Not all house Cats are cool ;)

totally unnecessary for printing zipper hoodies on the left chest especially one color now if that was a print going across the area where the zipper is then yeah.

Yeah you can 4 wheel it over the zipper with a regular pallet for a crest print but if you have one of these then why wouldn't you make things easier. It's just a pallet. Not hard to set up. Plus you can print over the zipper if you like as you said so it's a nice pallet to have. I used to print an awful lot so I like my conveniences. On the automatic press we four wheel it and tape off the screen very well where the squeegee is or we use a special cut out squeegee. But to each his own. Thanks for watching. if your doing a left chest print you can use a small squeegee and not "four wheel" it

Ken Gonzales Yes of course you use a smaller squeegee for a crest print but the 4 wheeling comes by pushing the screen down over the zipper which is likely to create higher off contact than is desired which for beginners is not recommended. An experienced printer can print this without the zipper pallet I'm sure but not everyone is as experienced or skilled as others. And remember there are a million different ways to do the same thing in screen printing so what I demonstrate in videos is not the end all of how it is done. It's maybe how I might suggest doing it if you're just starting out. I am not attempting to teach experienced screen printers anything new here.
