I enjoy watching your videos and advice. I'm thinking of buying a handmade screen printing (manual) board which I saw at a secondhand shop today. I loved it when we did screen printing at school (about 35 yrs ago) I'd enjoy doing it again and I'd have fun with my sons while we all give it a go!
Thank you!! good luck and let me know if I can help out anytime. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
I am glad I checked this out before going to the store. Started screen printing a few months ago to save money for my husbands band. couldn't get a new screen for my 2nd run of shirts, last min big show, need shirts and I reclaimed my first one too many times learning the don'ts :). I fashioned a DIY out of old curtains, works alright, could b tighter though. The emulsion drying time kills me when short of time (and I am!). I had 2 different ones I wanted, now I can do 'em tonight. Thanks
omg u did perfect timing, cuzbyesterday my brother asked me to help him to do some tshirts but we r tight on the money but defently gonna buy the screens and Im going to do stencils and I needed a video like this. thank you very much!
@TrollLovesCoffee Thank you! Glad you liked the video. It was an experiment for me as well. I knew what should happen but not exactly what to expect. Thanks for watching & commenting! ☠
Thank you! It really helps me a lot because no need emulsions. I had a hard time looking for emulsions here in our place and there's none. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
You’re very welcome. I’m happy to be of assistance. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! www.catspitproductionsllc.com/ - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
@Toche Hey that’s great. Paper stencils have been used for names and numbers for many years. You can actually buy the paper number stencils form vendors like Ryonet. But a plotter set up is great. Thanks for sharing… Thanks for watching & commenting! ☠
Catspit thank you for taking the time to post this video for all of us ! A lot of great information, and I especially liked the confetti method.. very clever! I was wondering if it was possible to print on a shirt that has been washed and worn several times, if it would be a good idea, or if it would last? Thanks again, Catspit.
You're welcome. I'm happy to know you enjoyed the video. I made a video about printing on laundered garments ;) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T6hJGTvo6Ss.html Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
This is, by far, the best video I've seen here in youtube for silk screen printing. Very much informative, great demonstration, and the simplest way to silk screen with just the use of a paper, really! Great job Sir! By the way, I'd like to know what are the pros and cons of a thin and thick print? Thanks a lot!
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed the video. That all depends on what you are refering to. Posters? Tee shirts? Each would have differences. Please make sure to subscribe ;) Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! www.catspitproductionsllc.com/ - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
You should do a video on screenprinting with vinyl stencils. Some people use vinyl on the screens which are cut with a plotter, and screen print onto shirts with that instead of emulsion. And since you have an auto now, you can tried to print with a vinyl stencil manually, and try it on your auto as well. Would love to see that.
I do not own the M&R press in the few videos I did with it. That was a friend of mine. But I do have access to automatic equipment but not for video making purposes. I would do a vinyl stencil video but I do not do anything with vinyl and I do not have a plotter for that. I may get one just to do some Catspit stickers and such in the future. But a vinyl stencil would not fair well on an automatic press I think. Far too much pressure and stencil wear. Thanks for watching. @twocanplayatthat Cool deal! I’m so happy you enjoyed this one. It’s my pleasure and I appreciate your continued support. Yea, you can use lace, leaves, patterns and other found objects as well. Experiment and have some fun. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
I have been making shirts for a little while with heet press and transfers but I really want to screen press them for better quality but never done it. Watching your videos to learn thanks
+Half Past Dead Paranormal Radio Awesome, glad you're enjoying my videos. You're welcome. Let me know if I can help out anytime. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
I think you are talking about four color process or “CMYK.” That can be difficult to do when first starting out and manual printing makes it even more challenging. I would start with spot color designs to get the feel of it and then move to process work. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Cara ainda bem que encontrei este video, estava procurando algo nesse sentido, telas feita com stencil foi um show, espero poder receber muitos videos esse cara é fera
You’re welcome. As for the first question laying down a thick ink layer at once and trying to cure it will be more difficult than using the hit flash hit method. The hit flash hit method would produce a better looking high density print using a screen with an emulsion stencil. It would have sharper edges and be able to be cure thoroughly. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
@x3mhook Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. Yea, you totally could use the thicker stencil to make “high density” prints. I’m happy to hear the spray tack tip helped you out. A tight screen will definitely help you out. Thanks for watching & commenting! ☠
@Ben Perez - Thank you!! I may do some more with this in the future. Please subscribe and stay tuned ;) Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate your support!
No, this is just a simple home method to screen print at a low cost. For commercial screen printing we use photographic emulsions and film positives. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
You're very welcome. Most paper stencils can only be applied to the screen once. An iron will not cure plastisol inks but it will work for some water based inks. You can iron the ink with a Teflon sheet or piece of craft paper between the iron and the ink. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Thanks a lot! You’re welcome, it’s my pleasure to help out and share information. Check out the Catspit website too! Lots of good stuff there for you as well. Thanks for watching & commenting! ☠
@fitter108 Thanks! I doubt I would do such a video unless I had a job for something like that. Most metals can be printed with an air dry enamel or a heat baked one. And it would be very similar to the video I did on printing corrugated plastic signs. Thanks for watching & commenting! ☠
@jlambert1284 Thanks much! I appreciate your sentiments here. I had a lot of fun doing this video and I will do another paper stencil video soon. You’re welcome, it’s my pleasure to help out in any way. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Thank you so much for doing this one for us! This is a big help.Your videos cool and I always enjoy your tutorials! Thanks for your time, great tips and advice! Loved that last confetti, great idea. :-)
Could you like show how to do it on cloth or a t -shirt. I have an art exams. Hope u get the time to answer. Cool video. Reallly educative, loved the last one
Great video Could you do a video on screenprint a metal painted surface or just a hard surface. Like a instructions for a device and graphic names. types of ink also Darrell
Glad you enjoyed the video. You can use pretty much anything that will print through the mesh. Experiment and discover the versatility of screen printing ;) Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
Thank you. Always love your tutorial. This time you made my screen printing very easy. Own a Yudu but never used it , still sitting in its box. Does Yudu also use plastisol ink ?
You're welcome, glad I can help out through my videos. You should be able to use any ink with any screen printing system given you have the correct emulsion. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
@Sam Phillipips - I use either the RhinoTech or Albachem these days. You can get them here: catspitscreenprintsupply.com/aerosols/ Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! www.catspitproductionsllc.com/
@drunkclothingco Oh yeah that is cool. I have known many sign makers to use plotters and vinyl adhesives of colors that they didn't like to make stencils on screens. You can actually use a plotter with some heavy paper as well and cut paper stencils. Many people do that for names and numbers. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
@JoshsChanneI Nice, I will be doing another paper stencil video where we will print something on computer paper and cut it bay hand. Stay tuned. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for watching & commenting! ☠
@danibaillargeon Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. I used the Ryonet CCI Premium Mist adhesive for this. I also like the RhinoTech and Sprayway adhesives all of which you can get a discount on using a Catspit promo code from the Print Supplies Page of my website. See the RU-vid channel page for the link. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the video. I appreciate your support. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠ Obrigado. Fico feliz que tenha gostado do vídeo. Eu aprecio o seu apoio. Obrigado por assistir e deixar um comentário! ☠
You’ll need inks, a screen, a squeegee, a way to print perhaps hinge clamps or you could wing it on a table top. I would try to use water based inks for lower costs but they’re harder to print with. The hobby store is probably a good place if you're trying not to spend any money. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Hey Johnathan, quick question - you've used spray glue to hold the separate stencil cuttings to the screen, is this easy to clean afterwards? Would the spray glue not clog the mesh? I have a pressure washer would that get it out? Cheers, Sophie
@boombust9000 Thank you very much! Yes, I will eventually. I’m not sure when I will get around to it but I can promise you a lot more great screen printing videos between now and then... LOL. I appreciate your support! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Yup, there’s a review article on my website about it. Check out the Article Archive page. Links are on the RU-vid channel page. Thanks so much for watching and dropping me a note. ☠
Trying to eliminate the screen since I have no running water - just a gallon sprayer - har. Airbrush I think is what I need - spray can if away from studio. Guess I'm stuck will have to get a stencil cutter. Hope to do coarse halftones. Thanks for the tipsies.
You're very welcome. Yes, you can use a plotter and sticker vinyl as I mention in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-imRPqkUbulY.html Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
That's called flooding in the air. It gets ink in the mesh ready to print while allowing for less movement between the shirst the ink and the screen. Gives better detail. Thanks so much for watching and dropping me a note. ☠
Great tutorial! Succinct and helpful. I was looking to use stencils in my process for products that are more "one-off" than others, to offset some of the costs of emulsifying screens and such. Do you ever run into bleed issues when using stencils to print onto fabrics, or is that just a matter of choosing the right inks?
Thank you very much!! I appreciate that. No actually i think the paper you use would be best as a waxy or plastic coated paper so it will resist the ink from bleeding through. But even with thinner computer paper plastisol ink will not go through it right away. A water based ink may saturate it faster however. But the material you use to make the stencil will determine that. Thanks for watching! www.catspitproductionsllc.com/ - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
@@CatspitProductions really the most detailed and informative channel out there about screen printing and products. Just did my very first print today. Excited for thousands more.
I am unsure. I have never done anything like that. You would have to cut a positive so I don’t even know you would keep the parts together. Inkjet film positives are the easiest to use with photo emulsion. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
good day. I would like to ask if you can teach me what paint can I use if I will be screen printing on a plastic surface. I mean like a rice sack. Is screen printing applicable to plastic surfaces in the first place?
