Do you know if this resin would work as a coating for encaustic wax.

No, for several reasons. First, resin does not stick to wax (or vinyl). I poured it onto an Encaustic once and I was able to pull it off again as a solid sheet of resin. Second, encaustics are made with the two of best ingredients for sealing art: wax and Damar resin. These are natural elements so why add an artificial one? Third, the beauty of wax is the lovely satin, atmospheric surface. Why would you want a high-gloss, artificial surface on top of it? Adding resin would be an expensive addition that wouldn’t add monetary or aesthetic value to the work. This is my opinion based on my love of encaustics and resin . Of course, Artists can do whatever they want. :)

@@ThePaintSpotEdmonton thanks. That was my thoughts, but I have been following an encaustic artist who has been adding a resin finish to her pieces which adds such a depth to them. So that is why I was asking.
