Hi @thepaintspot Do the pbo waterbase gutta require ironing before starting the painting and do you iron on the front or reverse side also do you iron directly on the silk and on what setting?
Very impressive. Not only your ability in drawing/painting but the careful way you review each of the paints. I used the Schmincke charcoals for the first time yesterday. My only observation is that they lifted less easily than I expected.
Oh noooo! 😢 Poor animals. Thank you very much for information. I'm sure nobody needs those, when there's great synthetic brushes. Stop killing animals for nothing.
I have always been so disappointed with the glare glass framing makes. Even with the costly non-glare glass. This is a wonderful way to showcase a revolving watercolor works.
Hi dear. If i want black outline to be stay on fabric after steamed and washed. So which black gutta stay permanent on the fabric? Which brand. Please please help me 🙏
I saw this gallery today was almost brought to tears by the combination of the beautiful messages, hopeful and resilient, and the visual representation of that.
If I have a forgotten brush that paint dried in, I soak the brush in Turpenoid Natural (only up TO the ferrule, not way up toward the handle!) then the next day I can manipulate the brush a few times that day and at the end of the day it’s ready to wash like normal in the Saavy Soap. No digging, scraping, or harsh treatment. A very cheap brush soaked half way up the ferrule one time, dropped all the bristles. It was craft grade. Just don’t soak too deeply and usually it’s fine. All my artist quality brushes g he ave had no problems for the past 30 years this way. If it’s really stubborn brush, I soaked up to a week. The colder it is, the longer it takes. For this reason I won’t use Turpenoid Natural in my painting. I if ad it one time ruin not only taking the dried color off a painting I was trying to remove an area, it also ruined the gesso (dumb, I know, but lesson learned).
A++ for the great lighting in your video which clearly showed the differences between matte and gloss. You packed tons of information in here - VERY useful, thank you!
I used to use Procion dyes in fibers/handmade paper. Do you know if it will dye buttons-specifically natural clam shell, what they call MOP buttons? Rit fails at color, too dull.
PROCION MX bonds to plant fibres like cotton, and rayon. Acid Dyes will dye animal protein fibres like wool and silk. I think the Acid Dye would do better for animal shells.
Hello, after applying the gutta it's necessary to iron it frist and then fill the silk colors? Because I use pebeo golden gutta for outline and when it dry I fill the pebeo seta silk colors but it spreads out of gutta line. Why ? Please reply 🙏
my synthetic fan brush keeps clumping together. i was told that hog's hair fan brushes don't do this. but if hog's hair can't take a wash as u say, is there anything else i can use? i paint with acrylic!
At about 5:53 - 5:55, she explains that the Master-Class tempera cannot be dried in a palette then used later like Master-Class Gouache and Watercolor can. I was looking for the same information and wound up re-watching the video looking for that answer before I invested in the Master-Class Tempera. Hope this answers your question. Happy painting! 😊
How do you dust a picture that’s finished this way ? Does the wax and varnish protect it from fading in the sun or finger marks if someone touched it. ❤
Excellent video. I normally work in gouache and the same principals apply to varnishing. I'm not familiar with the other brand but have been using Dorland's wax successfully, and don't find that it has any odor. The tips you gave for mounting and framing were exactly what I needed. I'll be coming back to this video when I'm at that stage. Thank you very much. :)
That's the best and only video, that explains the quality and the price tags! I just ordered a Da Vinci Maestro 35 in n6 and can't wait to get it in my hands after this! Raphael,Da Vinci and Isabey, are probably the top 3,with Escoda and Princeton close the top 5!
I've been thinking a lot about this and I got the 3 pack today but after a quick play around i cant really see why one would choose it over watercolour of the same colour?
