How to Secure Erase Data on Android Phone

How to Securely Wipe Android Phone Before Selling It? In this video, we will be showing you how to properly erase/wipe data from your Android smartphone. The reason we need to do this is when we sell Sell, Recycle or give away the phone, people can use data recovery software to recover data from the phone. These can be photos, accounts, phone numbers, and so on.
The method below will make data 100% unrecoverable
1. Backup all phone data
2. Encrypt Android device
3. Remove SIM card and any sd storage cards from the phone
4. Perform a factory reset to fully erase/wipe your device.
5. Disconnect any account associated with the phone ie: Google Account
6. Sell, Recycle, or Reuse phone.
(Add extra step to shred data before you encrypt phone)

for unlocked Android devices with Custom Recovery Installed, I recommend the following step for erasing the phone memory: Power off your Android phone> Press and hold the Volume Up button and the power button for 1o seconds and your phone will boot into recovery mode> wait for the software update time out and about 1 minutes later your phone will go into Recovery mode> Use volume buttons to navigate to the option “Wipe Data / Factory Reset”. Press the Power button to confirm> Next choose “Yes - delete all user data”, and your phone will reboot to factory reset> Select “Reboot System” after the process complete. If you have some backup data before, revert them to your phone.

Best way is to use iShredder Professional to erase the data with their 50 password or whatever option after deleting all your data with device encryption on using a very long password with capitals, lower cases, special characters and numbers. Then after it finishes perform a factory reset. Do all of this three times and then run iShredder random on the free space - you can download the app for free from Apptoide. It is near on impossible on Android to securely erase data - I performed many tests. There were always remnants left over. This was the only way that worked. I hate iPhones but admittedly one factory wipe on an Apple device genuinely does securely erase all your data because they use full hardware encryption and wipe the data securely encrypting all the data with two very complex OTP passwords

When I need a phone erased I just hand the phone to my wife. The more expensive the phone the faster she drops it and destroys it.

Hi Brian thank you very much for the info Yes you have to be careful make sure you erase your data because if you have naughty pictures of you and your girlfriend or wife it would be so embarrassing, it's happened to my friend once he gave it to his grandmother🤣 it was so embarrassing he got in trouble by his father. There's no way to Encrypt Phone, Samsung S20+, USA. (The only encrypt function available is for the SD Card)

Put it in a two liter plastic bag, seal the opening, pop it in the microwave and cook on "high" until the smoking stops. Plastic bag is to protect the microwave from bad smoke odor.

@@Britec09 "It worked the last time I tried it" :-) Obviously, your method is best for the vast majority of situations. I have a drawer full of old mobiles, mostly "grandpa flip phones," waiting for proper e-waste shredder treatment. Maybe some day a museum will want them. Cheers!
