@@savvytechtips I think so but unclear about it. What I wrote came fro an SSD manufacturer. And some other internet security sites.

@crazysquirrel9425 when you bitlocker the drive first, you need the key to access the drive. When you format it, you don't need to write multiple passes on the drive because it was bitlocker. Hence no need to write 1s and 0s on the drive.

@@savvytechtips You can bet that MFR's have a backdoor... Cells are 4 levels deep usually. To clear all the cells totally, one needs to write all ONES, 4 times for each cell. All ones is the factory default. Civil court judges can demand you give your passcode. With that, with modern police forensics, they can usually obtain some kind of information bits. They can assemble them like a crossword puzzle and gain the info they want. Regarding bitlocker (a Windows 'feature), rest assured that Microsoft DOES have a backdoor...

@@savvytechtips Just use secure erase in the UEFI / BIOS, most mainboards have that built in for many years now, this method is not the correct way, also many drive manufacture such as Samsung, Western Digital, have that function with a bootable USB you can make, and that's the proper way

@arnold3811 I was giving 1 example. You can use the secure wipe from the bois. Why is the way in the video wrong?

@@savvytechtips Because you are not actually "secure erasing" you are encrypting then deleting the partitions, so you basically are writing to the drive, but the end result you are trying to accomplish is secure erasing, so you are wasting life of the drive, time and not doing it the proper way, just to be able to accomplish something you can do in 1 step? lol
