Teddy, filtering out by "Sold" AND "Completed" will give you an actual picture of what people are paying for similar watches. Just filtering by "Completed" will show you listings that may have ended, but not sold.
Excellent coverage of a topic that I think is confusing to many people, Teddy. You continue to "up" your game by covering areas that may be somewhat tangental to the watch enthusiast universe, but which are still extremely relevant and useful. Keep up the good work.

Very informative video, Teddy. I have purchased (but never sold) many items on eBay, mostly without a hitch. I'm interested in selling a few watches on eBay but my concern is the horror stories about buyer scams and eBay having a strong bias for protecting the buyer at the expense of the seller. Thanks again.

Great and very informative video! Thank you! Recommendation for the pictures: make sure the seconds hand is running when you take them and that the pictures show different hand positions. Then the buyer knows the watch at least works. I always pay attention to that detail!
One thing I personally find important is packaging and how it looks when it arrives. Of course I take care to wrap it up safely, but I also try and package items nicely. If you've ever bought or sold on sites like Etsy or Poshmark, how your item is packaged is very important to the experience. It takes a few seconds to add a piece of tissue paper on top or to hand write a "Thank you!" to the invoice. The buyer may or may not care, but I feel better knowing it was sent how I'd like to receive an item..especially a watch.

Very helpful. One question, though. I noticed on your sample listing you show your serial number, but I've heard other RU-vidrs (Federico) say not to show serial number. Your thoughts on that? I mean, I don't know what the big deal is about showing serial number for a watch. Am I missing something?
I tried Worthy, I have a watch on auction now. Idk who they use to appraise their watches but I sent pictures and the exact model number and was told "based on past auctions our watch specialists say it could go for between 1800 and 2200". I questioned this, felt their number was high and asked if they were sure about that. She says "these are our watch specialists and they know what they have sold for in the past" Ok, so I'm thinking set the reserve at 1400. They got the watch, got it ready for auction, and recommended I sell it for 405.00 based on past sales. And they can't tell me why the numbers they gave me are sooo far apart. Someone dropped the ball or they simply don't know what they are doing, so I set the reserve at 1400 anyhow. I am guessing they just wanted me to send them the watch thinking I wouldn't get mad and ask for it to be sent back to me, but when it doesn't sell, I'm having them send it back. I got tricked because the retail price was 2900 on that watch, so 14 or 1600 sounded like a possibility.
I have an Omega to sell, and I'm not sure what to do. If I put it on eBay, the buyer can lie and say they received an empty box. EBay rules in the buyer's favor, then I get screwed.

If you sell online and if the buyer claims box they received is empty, there is ABSOLUTELY nothing you can do as the seller. Platform will issue the buyer a full refund and as the seller you would be sitting right on a 100% loss. If there is platform protects the seller, TELL ME.
Buyers have buyer protection on Ebay. The description has to match, so be honest. Most common mistake I see is people calling movements in house when they are not, because they get confused by the watch brand using their own movement number and not the movement manufacturer's number. This is actually my biggest gripe about the watch industry- the subversion over provenance.

good stuff. I wish I was more capable to sell on ebay - but I do have a friend who does it for me and I have had success. I have also sold to a watch dealer in vintage watches - quicker sale. And also sold at an antique show. I've thought about auction sites - Jones and Horan- but there is a 20% sellers fee and no reserve - so you take a chance

One main thing he forgot to metion if you never sold on Ebay or dont have much feedback trying to sell your watch compare that sold 100's of watches is hard you should try to go abit lower.Theres a option in settings where you can refuse people that dont have at least 5 feedback because alot of scammers out there one reason I use best offer so I could see there feedback and see if I want to refuse them.

For me an on the wrist shot is a real turn off. Maybe because it reminds me it's been on someone's skin. On a watch roll with measurement span for the strap.

Hi Just been trying to sell my watch on eBay UK using buy it now but there does not seem to be an option for setting duration any more. I think eBay have just changed this to to 'good till cancelled (GTC) which as I understand it defaults to a 30 day period. May have got this all wrong but seems that eBay have decided that we would be all much better off if we left our listings on longer. How thoughtful of them!
Buying a used watch in Carousell (Kinda like Craigslist but in Malaysia and Singapore) is a pain in the ass. Especially the more low price watch(Seiko 5,Citizen, Orient)I mean most of the seller just said in the ad "for sale. Running." STATE WHAT WATCH IT IS! THE SERIAL NUMBERS!
