Been doing this for 20 years... it's a tough market out there. My rule of thumb has always been, if you wouldn't buy it or pay for it, then don't sell it. Simple heuristic to start with
Be wary of selling via the main sample companies. The money you will earn is kind of nonsense. Far better to try and sell the sample yourself via the platform Liam suggests. One other thing to keep in mind. Creating samples takes time and will wear down your creative battery. So, if you are thinking about doing this to earn earning to keep living whilst you create your own music for release, then just be aware prolonged sample creation can impact your personal music making in a negative way.
It's true- you mean llike with Splice- unless you're a top seller, you're not making much . I'm trying to step into the sample game now and I think that everything you're saying is true ! :-)
