I would like to thank you for doing something that I believe is vital. You don't go too fast! Many many instructors on RU-vid are impossible to follow for this reason. As a beginner myself, it's very important for the instructor not to assume I know where everything is. That Pointer needs to go slow enough for us to keep up.
Three suggestions: (1) Make your pointer icon large, so it's easier to follow your movement as you're navigating: and (2) explain how you (or your collaborator) navigate to the GoogleDrive when you want to open a file, because (3) some collaborators may be recording in GarageBand but you are editing in Logic. Simply clicking on the GarageBand file won't open it in Logic Pro Thanks.
Great walk through. You didn't talk fast. I understood. Can you tell me how to add saxophone to my piano and vocal recording . I have an Arturia minilab mkll ?? Thank you. Cliff
I’m glad it helped! Thank you! So I’m not sure what your working knowledge of the Logic interface is but basically if you create a new track and select “software instrument” you will be able to select from a number of different saxophone instruments to use. Then with your minilab plugged in you can not only audition the different saxophone patches but record the midi part into your song.
This is great! Only thing I am still unsure about is what the "Copy the following files into your project" options entail. Should I have all of these selected as you do by default?
It’s basically just a safeguard to make sure that when you create a new version of your project, it has all the same files as the original. Some of them aren’t necessary every time but I check them all just to keep me covered.
Ok, so my friend followed your steps and I downloaded it from my Google drive and it’s now under my downloads on my MacBook. Problem is when I open logic and try to open the project he sent under downloads via Logic it’s grayed out and I can’t select the project. So, how do I open it in Logic? Please
My friends is following the same steps to send my project back to me that I shared with him and now it doesn’t work. Any tips on what may be the issue?
How do you open the project once it's in google drive? I saved some projects from my school laptop before they wiped it, and now can't figure out how to open them on my personal computer.
In the Google drive right or option click the project file/folder and select download. You should then be able to find the project in your downloads folder. If they were uploaded correctly it should open right up!
After I upload and try to preview, each time it says “Couldn’t preview file. There was a problem with the preview” and i followed all the steps religiously, what should i do?
You won’t be able to preview the file. Google drive doesn’t have any way to read/interact with it. The only thing it’s good for is storage/sharing. Once it’s uploaded can you then download it and open? That’s how you’ll know it worked.
@@SojournerTracks oh jeez I’m only just seeing this 😅 but yeah downloaded it after uploading and it worked perfectly fine, thank you very much for explaining!!!
Yes, your friend’s version of Logic will convert the project to an new version. Some small details may change but overall the project will remain the same.
Frustrating I know. Is the project saved as a folder or a package? Uploading folders tends to confuse google drive which can really make a mess of things.
I'm wondering if there's a way to send the project with all the buss signals and their respective plug-ins? I know that when the project bounces down you are left with only the stems, but in order to share the project files that I'm working on with my friend we need to transfer all of the information contained within the original project.
If you send the project as described in the video the recipient will see exactly what you do when they open it. It’s a transfer of the whole project. As long as they also have Logic and the same plugins you used it will be identical.
@@SojournerTracks Right on, brother. Many thanks. I truly appreciate you taking the time to offer your knowledge and skills in the field. I will definitely be doing a deep dive through your videos and will try to do my part in directing people to your channel.
Just watched the video, once the link is sent to the intended recipient can I delete the song icon project from my desktop? I’m new to all of this... Thanks
Once the song is uploaded to google drive (or other cloud based service), a copy will stay in the cloud. It will remain available to you and whoever you give the link to for as long as you maintain that cloud copy. The project on your desktop is not necessary anymore, however I would suggest keeping it at least until you’re sure everything worked out on the recipient’s end. Thanks for the question!
