Yes, thats a good point. I have shared just the project file before and it works as well but compressing the entire project folder will make sure to include all files no matter who is receiving it.
i have a question for you , Your video was really helpfull but i was wondering how to proceed when a producer sends you a project via email , how do you import it in a new logic x project , thanks again .
Do you know how to mix drums and bass using an analog board via Logic Pro? I have an Soundcraft MTK22 console and I am having a difficult time trying to figure out how to do this.
thanx so much! i couldn't get mine to switch to folder as it was all grayed out. i found settings to check all the rest tho. i had to send as "package".
my Mac started lagging so I want to reset it to factory settings. Im a self-made musican and mixing/master Enginier from Germany so I got a lot of projects. my question is if I safe them like u showed in this video will everything be there ? I mean all audio files, plugins in the channel strip and settings of those will it all be there if do it ?
They should be yes but what I would do is put all of your projects on an external drive before you reset your Mac. This way even if something goes wrong in the resetting process you'll still have all of your projects as they were
I got an external SSD and literally just copied the files onto it. Then I plugged the SSD into my new laptop and dragged the files onto it. Is there a downside to my method? It was super easy...
Not a downside to your method at all. In this video, I was primarily thinking about sending sessions to other people where it's not as easy to have a physical drive.
I have a Mac which I use Logic Pro on, I'm about to get a MacBook Air also for Christmas, is it possible ( for example ) to record a song on the Mac then move over to the MacBook Air to mix and master the same song? if so how would I do this? many thanks
Thats great you are getting a new computer! And you will definitely he able to move the files to the new computer. You could either save the file to an external drive or flash drive and simply plug it into the new computer or you could probably compress the file on your current computer and then airdrop it to your new computer. Let me know if that makes sense and happy to help.
If you have the Logic Pro for iPad app, it should open on an iPad, but I don't think it would open on the phone. I'd say you could send the MP3 or wave file and play it on the phone.
you should not have to know. Once you have saved the new file, you can find it in the location that you sent it to whether logic is open or not if that makes sense.
I want to transfer all my logic x files from my old MacBook to the M1 I understand that the plug in’s won’t play since the plug in’s are not installed. By doing this can these files inside the folder have all the stems?
Yes, all the folders and files and stem should all be there. Just to be sure I would test it with one session and see how it opens up on your new computer and then if it works properly then go ahead and do the rest. Hope that helps!
Great question! I like to send it this way so that the recipient can have access to all of the individual file folders. It works in both ways just depending on the need.
I'm sorry but this is just wrong. Saving as a package works this method just does not work. Saving a project into folders will work if you compress the containing folder into a zip file not the Logic project which here is a small 5.7Mb project that will have no links to the samples etc.. However this will work really good if you and your collaborator have exactly the same named folder hierarchy... this is a great collaboration method where you are not sending source data (the main audio files) every time you make a change.
I did exact that way to just zip it and now I can't open my files and all my audio files are gone. Thank you for nothing... Everything I spented was for nothing... thumbs down. you have ruined my life completely
Hey ! So I am working on sending a session but when I go File in Logic Pro X I dont have the option that says "Save A Copy As" I only see "Save As" how do i save the project as a folder ?
So if you go to the folder where your Logic sessions are saved you can just compress that file and send it. 'Save a copy as' just creates a redundant file but compressing your original session file will work just the same.
I'd like to add, that if you're sending to a mastering house, you will want to freeze and render your tracks first. This way, effects and automation will be printed on your tracks. It's very unlikely that your mixing guy is going to have all the effects that you employed. Just my $0.02
