Thank you so much for this video. I just finished your tutorial. Now my 2 iMac's are in perfect midi sync. Main computer running Pro Tools Studio & Remote Computer running FL Studio 24. Awesome video. God bless you 🙏
Great Video. As much as I like the "Link" Protocol. The Hardwired /Switch method is solid. No drifting at all. Ableton & Traktor via Link over a "ad hoc network" normally drops sync after 2 hours. Cheers
🤩🤩 wow great, but a lot of us only have PCs, could you please consider this. Your information is very valuable, there is no similar content on youtube, I love it.
There’s a program called CopperLAN which will allow you to connect PC to Mac via Ethernet. I used to run ableton on a Mac and used ableton on a pc as a virtual instrument
yo just some feedback I came here searching how to do this specifically with macs via ethernet so you dont have to spend the first 2:00 explaining what you are about to explain
Hi there, thanks a lot for your videos! Very helpful! I managed to sync two Ableton Live on two Macbooks. The only problem I get is that the MIDI clock just stops at bar 1210 and the second machine restarts from bar 1! So when I have (for example) bar 1124 on the first Macbook, the second one is at bar 12 (bar 1261-bar 70, bar 1803-bar 742, and so on). How can I fix that? Thanks a lot!
Hey! Thanks for these videos, they’re super helpful! I’d like to be able to send midi from Ableton to OBS to trigger visuals. Can you suggest a plugin I can use in OBS that would allow this? 🙏
How would you do this if instead you wanted 2 "Main Ableton Computer"s as an A & B rig for a Playaudio 1U? If both A/B computers are connected to the same switch that the Remote computer is connected to and they have the same Main Ableton Computer name, will that be fine?
Hi, I’m having problems with this method, the problem is when Machine A reach the 1024.1.1 compass it just doesn’t sync never again with the machine B. But before of this specific compass everything works great. Any advice??
Thanks you for this great video. Coukd you help me to résolve a problem? I'd like to send program changes from my ableton live to my friend's ableton live. We have an electro group and we have two ableton live connected in midi via our sound cards. I'm the master and he's the slave! The synchro works perfectly. However, I'd like it to send him a midi message when I make a scene change so that the change is made automatically for him. Would you have a solution for this? Possibly without using max4live. If not, it's OK, I'll take it anyway... Thanks in advance Florent
How would I "sync" two versions of Ableton (one on PC and one on MAC?) I tried doing Ableton Link (where the Mac is hardwired to the PC via ethernet) - the start/sync/stop works but the timing is so off.
thank you for the Video, what can you suggest I do if I would like to synchronize My Cubase project (running on a PC) to a Protools session (running from a Mac). I want to make Cubase the master and Pro Tools the slave. Essentially, I want to press play, stop, rewind, scrub left, right and have Protools follow. The goal is to have Cubase (master) as my sequencer and Protools (slave) to run video simultaneously. I do have a Ethernet Switch and have them both connected via Ethernet. On My PC I am running Cubase 12 On my M1 Mac Studio I am running Protools Studio
You didn’t show it working, so how do I know this works? And what exactly are we looking at? Are you syncing these 2 Lives so that when the play or record button is pressed on either, the other also syncs and plays or records?
Just to clarrify, can I do this without being connected to the internet? If not, is there a way of doing this using MIDI cables? I have a second mbp which handles the visuals and I'd love to be able to send midi from my main Ableton mbp. Many thanks
I was able to directly connect without a switch, but we needed to get a crossover ethernet cable. The regular ethernet cable is only a one-way solution. The crossover cable is bi-directional.
@@braginocreations6674 Sharing info like this is SO helpful! thanks , you got a new sub, and have helped many more people than just myself and Wes! YOU ROCK!!
Can I have my computers networked to send midi via ethernet cable and still connect to the internet via wifi at the same time or is it best practice to disable wifi? I want to have my midi network connections for rehersal but there are some service elements that are downloaded Sunday morning during rehersal and added to propresenter.
