Absolutely love that he didn't talk and focussed on the action and angle. Now I actually understand how to do these serves. Time to head for practice soon.
Excellent video as usual👍. Just wanted to know why dont most Penholders use this serve? All the top penholders like Wang Hao,Xu Xin and even the new generation players like Zhao Zihao, Xue Fei , Wong Chun Ting etc use the hook serve but never the reverse pendulum.
good video and tutorial just the topspin variant at 3:16 is no real topspin, u can see in the slowmotion how the contact is still on the way down and sideways instead of side-upwards, its def the hardest to do if u want real side-topspin and not just sidespin
Congratulation, you have the upper body motion down to a T, pun intended. The reversed footwork is not illustrated though. Timo doesn't push off his legs like Zhan Jike but he has a low stance and good hip rotation after contact. I wish you'd have shown how to step over with your backfoot to face the table.
The word "no spin" is misleading. It's still a backspin serve with less spin than normal. And nowadays players rarely use that kind of slow short servers because of easy to get flicked, they mostly use half long or long serve with very fast hand movement that make opponent having difficult to read the spin.
Lefties shouldn't use the reverse pendulum much.Zhang Jike always used the normal pendulum against lefties because the sidespin that breaks away from the forehand is the most difficult to receive.Chen Qi is a lefty with a great serve to imitate.
