Great video, thanks! Just saved my fishing trip from an early finish as the line got tangled above the reel and I couldn’t work it out. Watched this and five minutes later I’m back fishing!
Thank you very much for answering my request. You are an awesome man. I like these reels but wasn't sure of full tear down. I am zebco crazy. Collect also. Thanks again.
Roger, Thanks for bugging me to get er done. It is a very nice reel and well built. I don't think the brand will last very long though, since it just doesn't seem to be very popular. I don't see any new models, so it is possible it will eventually get mothballed. So hold onto it. It could become a nice collector item.
I have one but it's different. Mine doesn't have the slits in the side. Zebco Rhino C5 RSC3. Wish that they'd let me post a picture on here. I used to hate these type of reels when I was a kid but I love this one.
You can replace that bushing with a bearing because mine is actually a four bearing system so it's got a metal bearing in that place. .47 inches or 11.9 mm Outside Diameter. .13 inches or 3.5 mm Thick. .31 inches or 7.9 mm Inside Diameter. The only other difference is that mine doesn't have that kind of cone on it that yours does. Mine doesn't have those slits on the side of the cone. It's completely enclosed except for where the line comes out. Part number for the bearing is HZ097-01. You must have RSC3B which has the bushing.
I also just noticed that you put the drive gear in wrong or at least not the same way that it came out but I don't know if it matters. There's a notch on one side of the drive gear shaft and not the other and when you took it out it was on the left side if you're holding the reel by the foot towards you and when you put it back together you put it the opposite way I believe.
Hey Matthew that's the reel I have I was telling you about before when you push the button it's like it goes from one side to the other it won't push straight because it's rubber And every time you cast it it's like it's scraping the line out you hear a scraping when you throw it and starter cast it ! It's a very good reel I love it but the Rubber button that's so Aggravating trying to fish with it! I know you told me to take some line off and I did but it still does it ,thanks for the help!
@@OutFishing13Matthew OK Matthew I think I figured it out When I push my 33 button to cast the line will not come out until I release the button When I push the rubber button on the rhino the line does not lock down you can still pull it out and I think that's why hes making that stripping sound when I cast because the line is loose it's not locking down with the button . Yes I believe that's what's wrong when I cast the rod is making the -line strip out before I release the button because the line's not locking down tight when I pushed the rubber button in its not holding the line tight with the rubber button push down !
I took it apart and cleaned it like you did greased it and I didn't see anything wrong with it it's just that when you push the button-down it won't hold the line good and tight.
Hey Mathew, I just got a rhino rsc2 new in a sealed package. The drag is very sticky or bindy. It's not smooth so cleaned and greased the drag washers it helped but is still pretty bad. Everything else is great do you any idea why it's so sticky?
Hi Matthew, I found a RSC3 in my mothers storage room that I think we gave to my step dad. It seems to be in great condition other that the rubber around the push button fell apart. I have been trying to find a source for the rear section housing the button and rubber piece with no luck. Do you have a source for this part that you can share? Thank You , Jerry
Nevermind I think it has something to do with the bite alert switch. If the bite alert switch is all the way over to the right then the line is loose but if it's all the way over to the left then the drag nob will work then. Is that how it's supposed to be? I thought the bite alert switch just added sound to the line being pulled on.
Hi I have a rhino. It releases the line when you push in the Button, not when you release the button. So it works backwards compared to other reals. Is there a way to fix this?
Hi Lance, I like to do repairs, however, due to the lack of parts available, I avoid them now. Plus the shipping has gotten so expensive it is cost prohibitive.
@@RhythmMethodBand IT's hard to say without the reel to diagnose the issue. This reel uses a continuous AR. I suggest you take it apart and lube the AR bearing. Make sure that AR bearing has all 6 little roller bearings in it. One could be missing. Zebco may have some replacement parts.
Hi Matthew, just found this video as you know that I always keep an eye out for your new video,s, did you get my latest about the zebco merc k6 reel one very uneek reel.
@@OutFishing13Matthew Matt. the inside is not even close to a 33 Matt. I'm sorry but I don't have a way to send you a picture not too smart when it comes to things like that.
@@OutFishing13Matthew Okay thanks. I wish that I would've bought a couple of them. I just saw another RU-vidr in a store that was selling them new old stock of the one's with the slits in the side.
It's weird that these are called RSC3's because it looks like an RSC2 but I have a RSC3 that looks like a RSC2 but it has a different cone or cover and is a 4 bearing system. So I wonder which one came first because to me the one with the slits in the side of the cone/cover looks more antique or retro and the one that doesn't looks more modern to me.
@@OutFishing13Matthew Yeah I did. I had to take it all apart again and clean all the grease off and then rinse it off with hot water and then put it back together again to get it to work. That little flat piece that that pin went into wasn't moving freely for some reason.
