For those of you that came here for a korky that was no longer filling. Beneath the float within the black square assembly is a small drain plug, this plug drops out and drains the assembly to initiate the filling process. If your toilet is NOT filling, check the walls around this drain plug for corrosion and build up that may be impeding the drain plug from dropping out via gravity. I cleaned some gunk off with a scribe and this operates as normal again. Hope that helps.
You are a genius!!! Why would’nt this procedure be in this video???!!! it surely is one of the most common situations. Shame on Korky for not including it in the video!
First off thanks for posting things like this. I performed all of the above but the rear tank still slowly fills throughout the day and the overflow seeps back down the center tube. There might be water coming out somewhere in the middle of the unit. What's next on the checklist?

0:47 when the valve cap won't twist 1/4 turn using any method... [edit] used Vice Grips to grab and twist the cap 1/4 turn. valve and supply tube both looked relatively uncontaminated. well, at least i got 3 years out of the Korky, and it is 100% recyclable. installed a whole new valve today.
I liked @flyguytv6776 comment below. Too bad I only watched your video and didn't read his comment. I did your cleanout procedures twice within one year, but finally, it stopped filling and I thought I would have to buy a new valve. Actually, I prayed first for a solution. I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working, because the float is the only moving part. I used a cup on top of the disassembled water tube and turned on the water, to determine no water flow impediment. Then I figured out that your float and valve work by cutting off airflow. I realized that the only thing that could release airflow was for the float to drop. But it couldn't do so because there was a little ball-like drain plug at the bottom of the little cup, and that was stopped up. I cleaned everything else out--twice--but didn't know to clean out the drain plug. Maybe you could do another video and talk about this very important step.
Did every thing as directed in the video and still wasn't finishing the flush correctly, there is a ball valve, underneath the float, not allowing the float to drop and start the refill, that had fuzz of some kind in it. Cleaned that and it works fine now.
Everything you said worked. I took it apart, cleaned it, put it back together, and it seemed to slightly improve the situation. As the toilet tank fills, the valve was shutting off then coming back on several times. Once it filled completely there was no leakage, so it's not the flapper. Now it only cycles two or three times when the tank is nearly full. Could it be the float rubbing on the side of the float chamber?
changed out an old model approx 8 years after purchase. Price of new platinum model under 20.00$ followed the instructions and it took approx 15 minutes to change. Works great, keeping the old one after cleaning it, for the spares, but doubt very much if i'll use them. Great product ideal for do it yourself guy.
My 2017 valve stopped filling -- one quick video later, I disassembled and cleaned the white intake tube thingy (clogged with rust/scale grit!) and Crisis Resolved! Thanks!
Awesome video. I was about to replaced with a different brand of valve thinking this Korky valve was defective only after one year. Followed the instructions, only took about two minutes to fix. Ended up being clogged from old pipes.
Thank you for this video. My valve has been slowly overflowing my toilet for about a year now and I just stumbled onto this video. You made it look easy to resolve, and it was!

Yes, you will remove the entire refill tube assembly (small tube segment, refill adjuster, and long refill tube). The rest of the servicing process is the same.
Brilliant. I immediately saw that the float was not moving freely and this service solved the issues. Unfortunately will have to troop back to Home Depot to return the overpriced Toto flapper that was $25, but uneeded . Thanks Korky
Excellent easy to follow instructional video. Took me all of 5 minutes to clean fill valve that would no longer work. Thank you for the outstanding products and help videos Korky!
Everything was correct, no rambling on the vid, which I stopped and repeated some segments. I wish the vid was better lit to really get a clearer view on the black parts, but I figured it out. Thank you
the valve had hardly any flow I took the cap off and put it back on a dozen times to try to fix it but without success the quote below showed me how to fix it "ensure the pilot seat is flush with the surface of the float arm" I took the float arm off one more time and pushed down firmly on the pilot seat that fixed it! flow was good thanks for the video!
After having struggled with a 50-year-old ballcock & float design, the Korky valve was just so incredibly easy to fix in comparison. Pulsing problem fixed!
I need to call Korky, 3 month old valve/ It was pulsating and sometimes chugging like a steam locomotive! It fills and water level set perfect. I did buy a replacement rubber valve part that fits inside the valve. The part under the float. It solved the issue for about a month. Then started pulsating again. Different noise each time. I'll try cleaning the "strainer" as I did not do that. If I can;t resolve, I will make a short clip of the noise. Thank you.

@@KorkyToiletRepair Thank you sir for your reply. I will be calling today, and we really appreciate the fast replies to the messages. I will always recommend your products> Have a wonderful day!
Thank you! So clear and easy to follow! I replaced both my fill valve and flush valve over the past two years, and now was hearing a constant dripping sound from my tank. With your instructions, I was able to clean the fill valve and remove the sediment that was preventing the float from stopping the flow completely.
Great video! I'm still having a problem though and I'm hoping you can help? The valve has a slow leak so it continues to run after it "shuts off". It stops about 1/4" below the top of the tube but then continues to slowly dribble water in until it's flowing over the tube. I took everything apart....didn't look dirty at all...and soaked it in a vinegar solution for a few days just in case, but it still continues to not shut off completely. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Thanks for choosing Korky! We are sorry to hear the issue you have described. When you took the fill valve apart, do you recall what the red rubber diaphragm on the underside of the cap assembly looked like? This is the only piece inside of the fill valve that may wear out over time. If the rubber diaphragm is wavy, warped, or deteriorated we would be happy to send out a replacement cap assembly (part number R528) to help resolve the issue. Please give us a call, we can be reached by dialing 1-800-528-3553. Available Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM CST.
I called, got great service and the new part arrived in a few days. Bingo...fixed the problem. Thanks so much! When I need to replace a valve in one of my other toilets, I know which brand I'll be looking for. Thanks so much! And fyi to all the fake review skeptics...I have absolutely no affiliation with the company. I didn't even know the brand of valve I had, and I didn't receive the valve for a reduced price for a review. I just bought the valve (at Home Depot I think) and paid full price.

Ours works like crap ,and we have clean city water so build up not a problem .it quits filling tank half way most if the time or doesn't fill it at all until you mess with the red cup thing . only get maybe 2 good flushes then stops working again ,we hate this piece of crap.

This is a great video. Thank you for coming up with this updated video and with the accompanying texts. Very easy to understand. Only thing I did different is used an old soft-bristled toothbrush while running them under warm water. No more running toilet. Now I know what to do with my 3 other Korky's! Thanks!! 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks, I thought my valve was broken has it kept starting and stopping. One step I would add to your video is to make sure the little plastic ball at the bottom of the container does not have any debris near it. I found a piece of cat wisker next to the ball and I suspect it was the source of the problem.
I have an older model I assume that is not as nice as this one... It makes awful noises every 2 seconds, after flushing, for almost a minute... Hate this stupid thing... :(

Followed these instructions to a T as well as replacing the flapper. The valve is still taking in water no matter the height. Good video but pretty disappointed since the valve is less than 2 years old.

Hi, I took everything apart and cleaned it. The rubber pilot seat doesn't seem to be quite flush with the flow arm. The supply tube is tight when I put it back into the valve body. The water keeps rising above the valve. There is a hissing sound as well. Any advice please?
Very disappointed my fill valve was running or restarting when I turned on the hot water really high, which I found out via my water bill going up so much. I'd replaced the original FM valve in the Glacier Bay toilet they installed when flipping this old mill village house. But I'd since had the main line replaced with a new PEX one. Then I found this video and found out there was still all kinds of sediment in the new Korky valve. I was able to easily clean it all out myself. Hopefully this is the end of sediment as it's not showing up anywhere else now, but I know how to clean it out now if there is. Probably will take it apart again in a month or so just to be sure.

Thanks for the great repair video! It help me repair my toilet. The long plastic strainer was dirty!! This caused the toilet tank to over flow causing the water to run down the bowel tube , also taking the tank took 10 min. to fill back up. Thank again korky, your a great american company!! Jeff
Hi guys!! Well, the demonstration & verbal instructions in this video were so wonderful that I was sure it would fix my running toilet issue. Sadly, it did not. Oh I was hoping so badly that it would! Are there any other helpful ideas that you or any of the readers on here can share before I have to call customer service? Please & thank you so very much!
@@KorkyToiletRepair Hello, thanks so much for your quick response. A couple days ago I noticed that my toilet kept running after flushing. In some other places I've read that people call it "hissing" which might be a more accurate description. It was not dirty, no build up at all & both of the Orange things (lol, of course I can't remember what those are called right now) are flat and appear to be in fine shape. Thank you!!

did all that i could in the video, which was pretty much easy but what solved it was that i had to lift it up a bit and lock it in it's place and that was it really. 1st time trying this and i didn't know that the water valve was not locked in position which was raising the water up and down over time.
I checked as in the video. There was a small amount of debris in one spot on the filter rod. After putting it back together I am still having the same problem. After flushing it takes from 20 seconds to 60 seconds before it starts to let water back into the tank.

Going out of my mind. The water seems to be seeping from the top of the fill valve and its brand new and seated properly. The water is very slowly moving inside the toilet. Not sure if it is the new cap is defective or the part inside the fill valve or what is leaking or broken. ?
While the fill valve is doing it's job to bring water into your toilet tank, it is normal to see water dripping from a couple of areas, not too worry! It is normal to see water dripping near the base of the valve and where the silver cap meets the black body of the fill valve. Yes, it is a great video....however, I must say this is a great design valve by itself. Look at the ease of servicing it - you don't even need tools. Good designers always go towards simple mechanism/fewer parts. Korky done it right here!!!! Wish all the companies were like you.

Hi Sean, yes, this is a replaceable part. If you have had your fill valve for less than five years, give our customer service team a call (1-800-528-3553) and we will send you a new one free of charge. If your fill valve has been installed for longer than five years, visit the following page to find a retailer near you: www.korky.com/products/fill-valve-replacements-accessories/replacement-cap-assembly-fill-valve
The red diaphragm was stuck to the top of the fill tube when I removed the cap. The outer ring tore when I tried to remove it and it's not smooth on the bottom like the one in the video. Rather, it has conformed to the top of the fill tube. Is this part available as a replacement? UPDATE: never mind, the entire cap with diaphragm (R528) is available for $4.99 from Ace Hardware, but I could buy a brand new valve assembly for $9.98 from either Home Depot or Lowes. I went ahead and cleaned the screen in the fill tube and reassembled everything. The valve is still starting and stopping as it was previously. Looks like I'm off to the Home Depot for a new Fluidmaster! Thanks for wasting my time.
