Glad you found it helpful man. Channel has not been very active lately but I have been slowly been doing a huge project with this jeep for the last year and a half or so and the videos will be going up as I hit a few key points in the project. Congrats and enjoy your XJ!

I'm not a Jeep guy, but I had no idea that they made 2WD versions. I'm assuming it's FWD. A 4WD swap sounds expensive, but sure would make good content for the channel.

You didnt watch very closely did you!! Its rwd, and just like most Truck/SUV's especially older ones...(new fwd SUV's are basically tall cars) They are RWD based so generally you drive around in RWD and only when you select 4hi or 4low on the transfer case then it engages the front wheels! Learn something new every day!

and a 4wd swap isnt too bad, the frames and suspension are the same, this is still a solid front axle vehicle just nothing driving it and no gears up there. You have to add a transfer case, sometimes mod or swap the Transmission to accomplish that, then put in a 4wd rear driveshaft that is shorter, swap in a 4x4 front axle and a driveshaft to go to that. Then mod your interior for transfer case controls whether they be electric or mechanical.

ah yes...you're right...I was listening more than viewing (multitasking isn't my strong point) . I watched again, and yep...no transaxle. Good video! It's cool that you have access to a lift at your job. I have access to a stapler and fax machine at my job...so...there's that...

i flushed my radiator 5 times on my 93 and my coolant still looks dirty
@GearHeadsGarageChannel
@GearHeadsGarageChannel 4 года назад
If all you did was drain and fill it you wont get it all. If you really want to clean it get a bottle of radiator flush and run it in there for an hour or two then drain and catch it all and take the radiator and heater hoses off and run a garden hose through from all directions to flush it all out. Then fill with new clean coolant.

how often do you change the oil and the filter sorry if you already stated that in the video.
@GearHeadsGarageChannel
@GearHeadsGarageChannel 3 года назад
If you drive often and longer distances then every 5,000 is fine, if it just gets short trips and putted around town all the time then 3000.

I feel like people shit on the 4wd swap so unjustifiably. I bought a 98 with 50k miles on it no crashes in great condition, 2wd, 6k. Waited until I found a rolled XJ at the junkyard, paid 900 for the parts I needed and swapped it in an afternoon. Now I have a fully functional 4wd XJ in perfect condition with no miles..

Have to ask. I have a 260k miles on my XJ 4x4. When I checked the trans oil level it’s like barely on the tip of the stick. Would you just recommend adding some oil in it? It’s obviously isn’t red because I don’t know the last time it’s been replaced. But I have no issues with it. So my question is, so I just buy some trans oil and dump it in until I get a better level on the stick? Or change it all. Thanks
@GearHeadsGarageChannel
@GearHeadsGarageChannel 4 года назад
Drain the transmission, take off the pan, replace the filter, then fill with 3qts, start and check level, go through gears and let warm up and check level again and add as needed. Dont let your level get so low you will burn up your transmission pump or converter and be stuck needing a trans rebuild. Take care of your vehicles and they will take care of you.

is there anyways to stop the leaking?
@GearHeadsGarageChannel
@GearHeadsGarageChannel 3 года назад
Im sorry it has been awhile since I put the video up, which leaks are you referring to? Generally yes there is always a way to fix the leaks. Oil leaks from the valve cover require a new valve cover gasket, oil leaks from the oil filter housing would require replacing that seal or gasket etc.
