I washed it shitty: the thermal paste was not completely washed off, I used a coarse brush, dried it with a soldering hairdryer. Served so-so VGA

... i really recommend you do it, but with isopropyl alcohol, and dont brush with that, you will damage the circuit

To put into safety, I recommend using distilled water instead of tap water because the mineral would damaged the component just like how waterproof phone cannot even handle the sea or salt water, that kind of water is actually contain more mineral than tap water

This is not the first thing you should do if your pc doesn’t post. Even if no electricity = no shorts with water. You should check other components in your system and check any debug LEDs on your motherboard if present, check any PSU connections, try different video ports, try a different monitor/tv, try a different graphics card or iGPU if present, cmos reset, physical PCB damage, try the card in another system. Not immediately take it apart, dump soapy water on it, scrub a little, and boom it works. At most it looks like all he’s doing is cleaning it.

Ever heard of Isopropyl Alcohol and soft bristle brush? Don't be stupid and use that. Also don't use heat gun, it may melt the sotter and might cause a short circuit. Just open the components, use a microfiber cloth + a soft bristle brush and dip it into isopropyl alcohol and use it to clean it but remember don't use the cloth on the GPU chip, to remove the thermal paste use a alcohol swab or a soft tissue and remember not to put too much pressure because it might rip of tiny microchips. Then use a hair dryer and dry it by keeping the hair drier not too close for 2 minutes max. After removing the thermal paste, apply new one (remember to use the ones that's suitable for your gpu's temp and power usage. Now close everything and you're done.

Lebih baik pakai sikat gigi.. Lebih menjangkau celah sempit dan bulu sikat nya lebih halus ketimbang pakai sikat baju.. Dan satu lagi.. Nyikat nya sambil di pegang VGA nya.. Jangan di sikat model nyikat baju di lantai.. Bisa rusak komponen2 nya di board gara2 tergesek permukaan lantai

This isn’t really servicing, it’s just washing the board and then doing a temporary fix.

That’s stupid idea. You can just unscrew it, then clean everything with isopoyrl, then find and replace broken solder joint, replace thermal paste and then assemble it again.

Before you try it out on your pc I recommend practicing it on friends pc and neighbour pc

I mean, so long as its distilled or deionized water, its just as safe as using iso alcohol. The soap though… I dont know about the soap… The brush just made me cringe.

What I usually do is tape it to my car and run it to a car wash. Works like miracle everytime. 👌

I know these procedure. But i dont know about brushing it. Anyway the important part there was hitting it up with that heat gun. But that gpu wont last long until you need to hit it up again with heat gun. Reballing is probably the best to fix this kind of problem with the gpu.

ah yes, instead of unplugging only the fan, you also unplug the fan connector.

I put mine in a ceramic tumble roller to polish the connectors.
