Your VW door lock mechanism repair was most helpful. My offside (driver) door lock on my 2007 MK Golf TDi has succumbed to the curse of the VW door locks.

Really good that you extracted the oil residue from and via the oil filter housing; this needs to be done when drained via the sump also obviously, but many don't know or don't bother.

Nice to see you back, i have the same Vaccumpump and change the Oil the same way on my 1,9 tdi axr Engine , but i think that your newer tdi has an oil Seperator in the Oilpan . The Problem is , you will not get the hole Oil out through the Dipstickhole.You will not reach the deepest Point near the Drainscrew, so about half a Liter stays in the Engine. Take the Drainscrew out after sucking it out and check if there is still oil coming out.Not every Engine is comletely empty and its not recommend to do it with a Pump. But as always , very nice Video and very Helpfull. Saw your first Video with that Pump and bought it .Use it a lot on small Engines.

Hi always best to drain via the plug if possible otherwise it tends to leave some old oil in the sump. Other videos show this.

great vid as always, I used to change my oil that way when I had an Astra estate, the sump plug had seized so rather than risk damaging the threads I went though the dipstick pipe and drew out the oil that way. I think I will be buying one of the vaccuum pumps you used in the vid, that definitely is a better way of changing oil, quicker and less messy. Good to see you back and well.

I heard that sucking out the oil just leaves behind the grit and solids which would normally be drained from the sump becuase it's at the bottom...any truth to this?
@controlrod81
@controlrod81 3 года назад
Yea your right as the oil is lighter than the solid debris

I change my oil regularly using this method, very easy. Every 4th or 5th change I drain it from below to get it all out. I think the most important thing is to change oil as frequently as you can afford. Critical for engine maintenance, especially in Diesels and if you are changing it regularly this method saves you a lot of time and grief.

I didn't know those oil extractors existed.. good to know though! Does it get most of the oil out?
@4L10
@4L10 3 года назад
You can use a basic hand pump with some cheap silicon pipe attached to it. Takes more time of course but the one he has is overkill for DIYing a single car. Yes, you can get more oil out compared to the drain hole with some adjustment of the hose.

@fraizer2600
@fraizer2600 3 года назад
the oil extractactor is an very bad method because all the dirt and metal parts will stay on the bottom and when you drive the car all they go in all parts of the engine. ;)
