Great simple instructions. Thank you. I bought a tiny leopard gecko 3 weeks ago and its only eat 6 calci worms as it wont eat crickets or locusts yet. I put it in a paludarium that is definitely to big for such a tiny gecko. Il be moving him into a simple setup like you until it matures for the paludarium. Thank you.

@GeekyGeckoCreations
@GeekyGeckoCreations 3 года назад
I sued to use HVAC tape but then recently found out the since HVAC tape actually is "metal" since is foil tape, I now switch over to a strong packing tape or gorilla tape that is not metal, it was brought to my attention that if the heat tape accidentally got rubbed raw or something and the electrical components were exposed and damage the electrical current could transfer through to the "foil" HVAC tape and possible cause sparks/short circuit. I dont know much about electricity, but it seemed logical to me so i switched over to non metal tape to hold down the heat tape :)

You can use a tank anytime of the geckos life, only if the gecko shows eating problems or health problems you might want to consider moving it to smaller 6 qt tub because it is easier to manage the illness or eating issue there, and specifically for eating they seem to feel safer and go back on food better :D

@GeekyGeckoCreations
@GeekyGeckoCreations 3 года назад
@@andresmanllo9138 Yeah it's all about preference, some people poke one small hole or two, personally im in AZ and its very naturally dry out here so i go compeltely air tight, and its perfectly fine, there is enough oxygen in there to last for the whole 60 days. Plus everytime a new clutch comes every 2 weeks i open the container so fresh air gets exchanged. But like if you look at Ball python breeders, their eggs are 100X the size of leoaprd gecko eggs and most of them lock air tight, and it turns out perfectly fine, but again, to each their own preference, but to answer ur question, yes there is enough oxygen exchange that takes place to last well beyond 60 days, but do what ur comfortable with and think is smart according to your geographical location and im sure it wont be a big deal! Good job researching tho! :D

@rachelkunz611

That's odd. Females will lay eggs without males. They just won't be fertile. Basically dud eggs. Six months is pretty young, but I guess it's possible.

Make sure to feed her extra, and make sure she is getting vitamins and calcium. Making eggs takes a ton of energy from the momma.
@GeekyGeckoCreations
@GeekyGeckoCreations 3 года назад
Rachel's advice is spot on. Females CAN lay eggs without any male present, it is more rare but possible, they wont be good eggs (or most likely wont be), but make sure like Rachel said ur gecko has calcium and vitamins especially calcium with D3 tho because making eggs takes a lot out of the body of a female. USUALLY when a female is old enough to lay eggs and a male IS NOT present, she will REABSORB her ovulations and NEVER lay eggs, but its possible that sometimes she will not reabsorb and will lay the eggs. My guess is next time she'll reabsorb the eggs into her body before she lays them, that is good and ok and is extra calcium for the female anyway, this is something reptiles do.

Hi I was wondering, is there a leopard gecko morph that would have bad genetics maybe? Like they might not live as long and have health problems? Because I heard albinos can be like that
@GeekyGeckoCreations
@GeekyGeckoCreations 3 года назад
Albinos are ok, just make sure you dont shine bright light into their eyes directly because they are more sensitive. But lemon frost is linked to tumor production in some animals, we currently are working with the morph in hopes to find out more about where the connection lies and if its possible to reduce, or eliminate completely. Enigma gene is also known for having Neurological issues in some of their geckos where the geckos will spin in circles and have trouble eating, shedding, and living solely on their own. I would stay away from those 2 morphs for now unless new discoveries are made to improve quality of life but other than that all other geckos are free game! PS - watch out for severely inbred stuff, black nights, some tangerines, etc, because "stunting" of growth can occur in offspring that have been inbred 10 years or more. :)

@GeekyGeckoCreations 3 года назад
@@luvpixie7636 Sorry, what were you confused about the "moron", if you could reexplain that for me? But there are a lot of people that say you should not breed albinos because you truely never know which strain of albino it is unless the breeder is 100% sure and its tough to be 100% sure unless that breeder has "bred out" and test bred all possibilities of albino against that albino gecko in question. Im on the other side a bit where i say its not horrible to breed to unknwn genetic geckos, just understand the babies you get might carry other genes in there that you are unaware of, and if you sell the gecko, just give the buyer a heads up "hey this gecko might have xyz genetics in it" Also once that gecko grows up into an adult you can test breed it to see what recessive genes might be "hiding" in it :) :)

@GeekyGeckoCreations

Yeh sand is a really touchy subject with the hobby. Certain sands are worst than others, washed play sand can actaully be used mixed with 50-75% organice soil or peat moss to create a really nice textured mix for the leos to dig in without facing impaction issues. And of course, high basking opportunities will help them process and digest all things better anyway, so most people suggest 100-105 hot spot if using sand/sand mixture.

Of course every animal is different but just one way to help "stressed" reptiles feel more secure is moving to smaller cages. @@Rileysurvivez geckos dont burn calories like we do, not to my knowledge so all my geckos are good weight, healthy, and they do cruise around the cage a lot too. But i didnt say every gecko has eating problems, i said some geckos can, and appreciate smaller spaces, dark, confined, in the wild they live in rock caves for safety and only come out to eat and breed. Anyway i know you are set in your ways, but before you judge someone think to yourself what am i doing that could be judged? For example keeping multiple geckos in one tank can EASILY cause fights, cuts, infections, and in worst cases deaths. I think its super rad u got them in a gigantic set up! Just be careful when speaking against someone else that you first examine yourself. Appreciate ya either way and hope to have many more convos, join our livestreams sometime and bring ur input :)
