@@DanielKeepingFish I did often think about doing something like this as my middle part doesnt have a shelf and i got a tall Marineland tank spare, but no holes for cables etc and i doubt my fish will like me drill the cabinet lol!
Why the heck haven’t we done an orange background before….for heaven’s sake that’s brilliant Daniel🔥🔥🔥 looks beautiful and always great ideas….those blue kids certainly do look amazing In there and so does the driftwood “Tree” We are thinking about doing some shrimp for the fourth tank on our betta rack….you may have given us the final push we needed Daniel 😀😀👍👍
Haha... don't think it's the colour that immediately springs to mind. Don't think I've seen anyone else do it but that's the second one I've done orange and can be really effective depending what you put in it. Thanks for saying you think it looks cool. Think you guys should definitely consider a shrimp tank for your rack. Honestly I spend lots of time in front of my shrimp tanks, sometimes more that in front of the other tanks. Fascinating little guys so they are. I'll be looking forward to the next tank on the rank. Whatever you decide on I know it will be something cool and well executed. Take care boys. 👍
Awesome video Daniel ! Me and saffie absolutely love the little shrimp tank! Saffie has one of those tanks for her cherry shrimp and they have bred like wildfire! She also loves the orange background too mate. Btw I've sent your Valisnera Giganthea rubra today first class
Thanks very much guys. Yeah I've done a few orange tank backgrounds now. Doesn't work for every set up but with the right scape and inhabitant I think it can look really cool. Thanks ever so much for the plants. That really was very kind of you. I really do appreciate that. Dropped a wee video just for a wee thank you: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D1vYUoJ46tQ.html
It'll be the 24 but I have used a 19litre in the past for a small shrimp tank. You can get a nice wee colony going in either. I did reinforce underneath the cabinet for this one just in case. It's still quite heavy even though it is a smaller aquarium.
Yeah I had two of these already. I only had to buy another because I gave one away to start someone up with a Betta and someone dropped a door on the other one believe it or not.
Hi Daniel! I really like your new aquarium with the orange background. Great set up and plants. I love Neocaridina shrimp, I have two aquariums dedicated to them. I do not use heating water for this species, I keep them at room temperature at home and I have noticed that their life is lengthened a lot. On the other hand, they are small crustaceans from China and live at even low temperatures. I like your Blues
Dear Daniel: Yes, I was doubtful about the orange background, until I realized your shrimp are the complimentary color. They truly stand out, wonderfully. I hope to get some “blue dream” or “blue jelly” Neocaridina davidi, at some point. Thank you for sharing this, entertaining and informative video. I really enjoyed it. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar
Thanks E. J. Yeah wouldn't be the first choice of colour for most set ups but works great with these shrimp and plants. It's not the first tank I've done with an orange background so I knew it would look great but can totally see people thinking "what is he doing?" 😂
Ik this is a freshwater set up but for my freshwater cherry shrimp I gave them regular coloured yellow sand that looks like beach sand because I copied the environment I seen shrimp in my area live in.
Another great video Daniel. I have the same tank and would like to get a light for it but the rim around the tank means it is difficult to find one to clip on the edge. Can you recommend a suitable light for this tank? Thanks
Thank you very much. I tried to answer your question in this video. Hope it helps a wee bit: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OLGTuMEhjV4.html
Hi there. So shrimp don't have much of a bio load being so small unless you have many of them. Every shrimp keeper will do different and it will rely somewhat on the make up of your water, what you're putting into it, if you have plants etc but as a general rule for me I tend to change twenty percent of the water once per week plus any top up needed due to evaporation. Hope that helps.
@Daniel Keeping Fish ok thanks Daniel. I just set up my 20litres shrimp tank yesterday with one small old sponge filter. Nearly 24 hours,so im thinking of putting 20 of blue neocaridina tonight. So not to sure after putting them in the tank tonight. Do i need to do any water changes. Sorry for the newbie question.
@@barneyicycool89 no I wouldn't do any water changes for a week after adding the shrimp. Not sure if you already know this but it is best to acclimate shrimp slowly. Mark's Shrimp Tanks has a good video on it called How To Acclimate New Fish if you want to look it up. He is a very good shrimp keeper and breeder. Would well be worth looking through some of his other videos too.
Wonderful set up Daniel, I know I’m fairly new to RU-vid, so I go around watching your past videos and this , like your other vids , is fantastic mate🙂👍🏻I might try some diff colors for my backgrounds… when my blue dream shrimp swim around with my signature blue painted backgrounds they go into stealth mode😂 I don’t particularly like black backgrounds but I might try one at some point, I like the orange! Thanks very much for all the great videos sir💯⭐️
Ah thank you very much. That's really kind of you to say, thanks. Yeah I wasn't too sure how the orange was going to go first time I did it but it went great so thought it would be okay for this one too. Definitely helps to avoid the blues going into stealth mode haha..
What a great video and YES the orange background is perfect for the blue shrimp. One rather silly question, I've just bought Almond leaves for the first time, rather than the small leaves you used, can I just cut up the bigger ones as I just want small bits in my Nano? Having never used them before I suppose it's okay? I've only just come across your channel but I'll be watching now and catching up on what I've been missing.
For sure! As a rough guide we say one full leaf (what I think you probably have) per ten gallons so hopefully that'll help you judge how much to put in. Yeah you can tare or cut them to the size you need no worries at all. Usually when one begins to visibly degrade is when I add another. Thanks for your kind comment about the background too. May not be to everyone's taste but I think it looks pretty ace. Glad you liked it too.
Daniel that was very interesting, I love the blue shrimps I just have the red ones. Guppy crass I have a love-hate relationship it grows so quick and dense. The problem with a heavily planted tank is the shrimp find it easy to hide. It is only when you remove the plants are you see how many shrimp you have they do brees so well. I enjoyed this.
Yes I get what you're saying about the Guppy Grass mate. We all have our own opinions I guess. I like it because it grows quick and dense. Means the shrimp have loads to explore and feel secure in and we can trim it however we want but if we mess it up it doesn't take long for it to grow in again. It can hide the shrimp which would be a problem if you only have a few right enough but once they start breeding in greater numbers it doesn't matter quite so much hey.
Thanks Alison. Yeah that was the idea. Suspect it looks slightly better to the eye than it does in the video but either way I'm really happy with it. 👍
@@alisonnicholson ah right I see haha. I'm quite near Glasgow so it's called Fishkeeper Scotland now. Maidenhead Aquatics confused people up here seemingly. You're right but they're the only big box pets shops up here. We have a shop called the Range. Don't know if you have one where you are but they tend to have a pet section for basic stuff. Sometimes can get a wee deal in there especially on their bog wood.
It's always a good time to see what we had in the past but it always a great time to look at where we are today. Technology leads us to the next level or two and the innovative people like yourself have to be appreciated and that is what I came here to do. Cheers Tyler and Happy Holidays to you, Best wishes to you and your family and keep your eyes open and make some time for a well deserved craft brew . 🍺🎄🏖️
