Thank you so much for this! Especially the recommendation about the Sandisk! I have an A1 (grey & red) and now I shall purchase the A2. Helmet angles I struggled with too and because I rode up in Wales I didn't install the app due to lack of signal. Feel free to have a laugh at my footage too. 😂👍🏼

Hey dere, for War re-enactment do you think a mount on my hat will catch my arms when we shoot our revolvers and use our sabers? Or should I do a chest mount? I don’t want to stand out too much with a chest mount... and b known as that guy

Hmmm... hard to say. Your hat cam will only ever go where your head turns and sometimes, the peak of your hat with “block” the lower view so if you are looking right down at your stirrup, your head cam might only catch the grass just in front of it. Worth doing a practice run I think!

You totally can! I’d personally, put the GoPro on the bare helmet and put your hat silk over top just in case your silk would pop off, your camera would still be safe!

I got a go pro for Xmas and tried it the other day...I had a problem/question!! 1- my helmet kept going over my eyes, I'm now unsure if it's because my helmet doesn't fit or if I had the go pro too low? Can it be too low, or should I be having my hat checked? It was moving a good 2 inches up and down Thanks! 😊

I definitely have had a similar problem with mine when i jump - i think the weight of the gopro can make the hat tip forward as they aren't made to support that weight so I try not to wear it too often. With that said, it's worth getting your hat checked anyway just in case.

What can you do to make the battery last longer and still have a high resolution video? i can't change batteries during lessons and im scared its gonna cut out

You can’t really but most batteries last 45 mins to an hour so you should be covered for a lesson. Could always set it up and then turn it on after you’ve warmed up

Hey! I can't seem to find any videos mentioning your GoPro being heavy and making your helmet fall down to your eyebrows (that's the case for me), I don't have a GoPro 7, I have a GoPro 10 and I also use an adhesive helmet mount, not a strap. I put it basically where Rhi puts it and I'm thinking maybe my helmet is too big, I am planning to try and put some more fabric bedding stuff in my helmet and that should make it more secure on my head. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if my plan is the correct solution. I definitely won't be able to get another helmet cause the one I have wasn't cheap. So I'm hoping someone could maybe help me out cause I'm quite clueless. Thank youu! The rest of this video was very helpful. :)

Mine does slip forward occasionally when jumping. If it's a major concern I'd say opt for a chest mount instead rather than altering your helmet as this may compromise on its safety

i've fallen off with mine on and whilst it came off my hat, it didn't come of it's own 'stand' - that tells you how sturdy they are if put on right!

The one plus point for chest cam I think is that it can't move when your head does and sometimes my hat slips a touch when jumping so of course, the gopro slips too. Otherwise, i like the 'height' that the headcam gives you.

I'm waiting for an adapter to use my fimipalm on my chest mount. I'm quite tall so have to point my go pro camera quite low to get the horse in, but lose the scenery on a head mount, so for me a chest mount has a better angle overall, but seems less stable. Hence why I'm trying the fimpalm as it is a camera and gimbal in one and not very big!

You won't be able to attach it to your helmet without a helmet strap. The same goes for any GoPro views: chest mounts, selfie mounts etc.

I couldn’t say for sure but I don’t *think* so. The GoPro strap has these rubber wavy lines on the underside and they go some way to helping it grip

Try some Velcro? They make sticky Velcro. You can stick it to your helmet and some to the go pro strap for extra security. Or duct tape in a pinch. It’s better than losing your camera.

My helmet is all plastic so I feel like it would slide off (I don't like the velvety ones)

I don't think it would - all motorbike helmets / motocross helmets are plastic and they wear GoPros on their helmets. The strap has a sticky set of lines on the inside to help it stay in place. I've worn this on my velvet hat and my non velvet (normal silk) hat and it stayed on both

You aren't meant to attach anything to the exterior surface of a safety helmet. A helmet is designed to protect through the surface area impacting in a fall. Stick something on the surface and you negate any safety offered by a helmet. Motorcycle riders get hounded by traffic cops for anything attached to their helmets for this reason.

Whilst we are talking about horse riders here, I'm also a motorcyclist so I'll share that pov too. In the UK, helmet cameras are legal with one stipulation; the camera must be mounted using a bracket (as is the case here), it cannot be secured by drilling holes into the shell of the helmet. Further, research conducted by the TRA (the Transport Research Laboratory) in 2016 reveals that helmet cameras may not be as dangerous to wearers as previously feared. The research, commissioned by BBC Safety, sought to investigate the potential effects that mounting a camera, such as a GoPro®, may have on the safety performance of helmets. Results indicated that all climbing helmet-mounted camera configurations investigated may be mounted to all three helmet models, and at all three impact locations, without increasing the risks of head injury beyond current legislative performance requirements or published injury thresholds.** As with anything, it's a personal choice, but it is legal. I don't like the falling footage ( no offence I do still watch just skip when a horse is getting frisky) I just lose confidence watching other people fall off As I said no offence to anybody who likes that footage I do think it is funny but I get scared when I am on the horse
