Worcester Bosch Greenstar. How to set up a Worcester bosch boiler. Today we have a Worcester bosch engineer and he is showing how advanced the Worcester Bosch CDI Boiler is.
Great video, although I like many others do installs as well as boiler repairs it is still beneficial especially for those who only do installs to set up the boiler to optimal efficiency.
@@AllenHart999 I had a watch of your electric check video the other day it was 100% spot on I was I senior break down engineer for scottishpower and they where drilled in to us and was the best learning point in my career 👍
Hi Allen Great Video - Any chance you know what the minimum flow rate for these boilers should be? Have a 40CDi Classic feeding one mains pressure hot water circuit off a two port valve and then two rad circuits (top and middle floor) each off their own 2port valves and then two underfloor manifolds, off another two 2port valves. All rads (except bathrooms) fitted with TRVS.... But i am struggling getting the boiler/circuit to manage all the pressure combinations and actually stay fired up when circuits are on/almost up to temp... Boiler keeps going up to 75 degrees (setpoint) and overshooting, turning off, pump continues and finally the boiler comes on again before repeating same. Effectively the boiler is not actually on that much :( I think it is related to flow issues so trying to decide what and how many auto bypass valves to fit (but need boiler flow rate to work this out)
Hi Allen, I'm just a consumer. Can you tell me please, does the pilot light need to be on all the time (ours isnt) or is it self ignition? Thanks for your support.
I always think a good visual demonstration is worth a lot more than reading about it . If increasing the fan overrun time dries out the bearing plate why is it not set to this as a factory default?.keep up the good work .
Nice presentation of combi boiler. I need to put new Worcester 28cdi for 3 bed room and 1 bath room house. Can I have your contact number please. Fakrul from Sheffield thanks
After 5b to 120, go to 9d on 2nd level diagnostics. It is the fan speed, turn from 50 to 55 and this also helps to dry the bearing plate. Also, 6d on level 1 diagnostics will show the dhw flow rate.
@@ci-ryder From the service manual: "To enter the second service level enter the first service level and then press the eco button and holiday button simultaneously for 3 seconds."
Dear Allen I'm a very old commercial heating engineer but have fitted all brands and fuels of domestic postage stamp boilers as well as light commercials in Whitbread pubs 50 mile radius of and including Nottingham etc. I have been looking at and advising a very cleaver electricai designer and his wife our niece, a leak or two on their Worscester CDi 37 combi they have in their loft. It has good access but the system should have a few improvements done by someone qualified, who is very familiar with Worcester Combi's of this type. Please do you know if that boiler has a safety = water low pressure switch that should prevent the sequence , even the pump from rotating in addition to the overheat stat? The pressure gauge on an 8 year old boiler same as usual can stick as this one does so I've advised a new replacement. I said the pressure needs to be known! I managed to turn the plastic top to stop the auto air pressure switch as it was passing again a notorious regular possible fault. I advised due to him being electrical to fit a warning device re the water pressure if it looses pressure an easily seen light or sounder as the boiler is not visible from below. With not being able to see a low water pressure- switch within the boiler Installation instructions, I would think there is not one (shame on Worcester) but it would be most helpful that you may well confirm our thinking that indeed there is the lack of one. Best wishes ( I'm very please I don't now have to sort out these complex hard to work on nightmares of a boiler!) full of plastic components.
Helpful video but no link to the manual. Searching the Worcester web site I can only find the service manual which doesn't cover the service menus. Can anyone point in the right direction?
Great Video Allen. Could you advise so I could try and get maximum efficiency please? 1A = was set 100%, reduced to 70% to reduce max firing and cycling. Circa 17kw on DHW cylinder primary coil and estimated circa 20Kw heating required to house. Say allow 20Kw - 20/30 = 67% allow therefore 70%. 2B = Max CH temp currently set at 88C (factory default), could this be dropped to say 70C to allow cooler to touch rads, less cycling and slightly more efficient? Whilst also maintaining 70C to DHW coil (60C DHW set temp / 65C storage temp) I'm assuming the display temp on the boiler is the flow temp - therefore I'm thinking circa 70C out circa 50-60C return to allow maximum efficiency?
Great tutorial, the only issue as service technician and as a customer it gets very frustrating waiting for parts on on all these new combinations and tankless systems are . Way too many moving parts IMO . Every manufacturer makes these units so it’s kind of a nuisance when you have to wait for tech support , as well .
We have a 30 CDI but we were told on installation that the right hand side rotary control is redundant! This video shows it in use? So, is there a component missing in my boiler?
@@stevelambert6689 So when I asked for the original quotation for this boiler, should I have been told at that stage that that component is not installed and is regarded as an extra and priced accordingly. If so, I would have had that component included within the quotation. So can that component be installed now?
Hi allen, Is there anyway I can contact Paul? I have a problem with my Bosch CDI Combi boiler. Many people have come and gone but cannot fix it. Thanks
After finishing the adjustments with the chimney sweep function button, do you press the service menu key once or hold for 10 seconds to get out of that menu? Thanks
If you use the range rate, does the boiler come down to the same ‘lowest’ rate? Essentially, the boiler will work between a closer band, ie, 6-16kw, rather than 6-30kw.
We've just had a smart meter fitted and the engineer switched the boiler off. Now the boiler (34CDI Classic) is running pre heat. I've downloaded the manual and read the instructions to deactive it but it doesn't seem to work. It says hold holiday button down but there's no response. No faults showing, just non responsive holiday and eco button
@@AllenHart999 yes thanks, I couldn't see the green light on the eco button as it's very dim. The Mrs pressed it once and came on, she's shorter than me and could see the LED light that I couldn't 🤦🤦
I’m still confused about having my heating on. If I would like my house to be set at 18°c how should I do that… I’m not really understanding 60 kW that makes any sense… 😢
I wonder if anyone can help...our reset button flashes and the number on the display gets very low, so we reset and everything gets back to normal -the number goes up to 60ish ,but then the number keeps dropping again... any ideas anyone?
