You totally missed half of what people need to know. You didn't talk about where to connect a battery, and in what relation that would connect with the wires, and with the box. And you didn't say which ends of the charger to connect to which grounding rods or the fence wires.

Do the ground rods necessarily have to be spaced 10ft apart & 10ft away from the charger?

I think the reason they say that is to cut down on the amount of insulated wire you need

Much of it depends on where you are and what kind of soil you have. Dry sandy soil is more of a challenge.

Why would you run a ground wire back from the fence wire back to ground rather than to the positive side of the controller? The fence should be connected back the positive side of the controller to complete the circuit. 🤷🏻‍♂️

because that would be a dead short and you would be sending all your voltage to ground

@@TheSimba86 wrong. What he describes is a dead short. A ground wire should not be going back to the hot side of the controller, that would be a definite dead short.
