When I start a RU-vid video, I always activate closed captioning. My hearing has been terrible for many years (from machineguns, aircraft, helicopters, and a huge dose of Harley-Davidson motorcycles), and sometimes the video's sound quality is way less than stellar. This may be the first of your videos that I have watched that did not a closed captioning option; however, it really wasn't needed. When you speak, you are both looking at the camera, you speak clearly and distinctly, and the audio level and quality is just right. Thanks for another terrific Glamper video. Lou from Georgia.

I always first check the power with my surge protector before I do anything I learned the hard way I got all set up plugged in my power and there was bad reading on my surge protector so I had to move spots. Thank you for all your tips and information I enjoy watching your videos

You really should not have your plug in your surge protector until you’ve verified there’s no issues with the pedestal. Breaker off, surge plugged in, verify no issues, breaker back off, plug in rig, then breaker back on.

We had a 5th wheel. Once you park it and make sure you have plenty of room on each side, the rest of the setup is about the same.Easy once you do it a few times. Thank you.

Especially since you have room in your water bay ( many of us have no such bay), I would upgrade from the Camco filter. Now there are fancy 3 filter setups with fancy names that go for $250-$300. Take a look at the Beech Lane dual filter unit on Amazon for $60. It used standard filters and come with a fine sediment filter and a charcoal filter. That is what I did for my travel trailer.

Thanks for the reference on the surge protector! We needed one, but the ones I was finding had horrible reviews. So I waited. Glad I did!

Thanks for the video one question for you. Where are your wheel chocks? Also I was told you need to just hook the surge protector in first and then flip the breaker on before you hook up to the rv.

Please let me remind you that leaving the grey water tank valve open all the time is a no no!! It may be of an inconvenience to have to go and pull that valve open every time the gray tank gets full, but just to let you know that there are a lot of sewer gnats and and all sorts of different bugs and critters that live in the sewer and They Will crawl up inside the sewer hose and make their way into your rv; even if you think that the p-trap will stop them. Why take a chance?! It happens a lot, google it and you'll see that just about every experienced camper will tell you to keep both valves closed until it's time to dump them.

Question about full sewer hookup. Why leave the grey valve open? Isn’t it better to have lots of grey water for flushing after dumping the black? The more grey water, the better. I leave both valves closed and only dump some grey when it full.
@GratefulGlamper
@GratefulGlamper 3 года назад
We will fill our gray too fast with showers and our washer dryer unit. We leave it open to drain because we tend to use a lot of water. We have a separate hose to flush the black tank when packing up.
@davidchambers6843

You need the snap pads for your jacks.
@GratefulGlamper
@GratefulGlamper 3 года назад
Yes! We actually have them but have yet to install. We have a foot on the jack that is bent that we need to fix before we can install them
@RickandDarcirvadventures
@RickandDarcirvadventures 3 года назад
If you leave the gray open all of the time how do you have anything to flush out the hose after emptying the black tank?
@GratefulGlamper
@GratefulGlamper 3 года назад
On our last day we will close the gray or use the black tank flush
@paulsylvester1394
@paulsylvester1394 3 года назад
I think the key is to manage your gray tank and if you don’t think you have enough, run the faucets for a while and then the gray will be ready to rinse.

I tried leaving my engine on the other day in our 2011 Jayco Greyhawk and the jacks would not deploy. I shut off the rv and it worked. Everybody says to check the electric post with your surge protector before plugging in the rv.

Do you put a chain or something on your surge protector?
@GratefulGlamper
@GratefulGlamper 3 года назад
There is a metal piece attached for a chain or cable lock, however, we don’t worry too much about it getting stolen as we haven’t had any issues the past few years.

As a beginner, this is my first rv setup video to watch. From the beginning, I was confused about the leveler jacks. Little detail for something that appeared important. Do you do rhis each time? Or just when RV not level? Why is this done? Is it a confort thing or is it a must? Are all jacks setup or just the ones needed? How many does rv have? ......?.
@GratefulGlamper
@GratefulGlamper 2 года назад
The levelers can be different for different RV’s the main thing is to made sure your RV is level before putting out slides.

Thanks for the tips! Can the rv run off of the city water & pressure or is the only option to use the fresh tank and run the water pump?
@GratefulGlamper
@GratefulGlamper 10 месяцев назад
It’s runs off city water pressure when connected to a city water hook up. You only need your water pump when NOT connected to city water.
@jaykaiser1754

@@GratefulGlamper thx for your reply. My vehicle doesn’t have a connection labeled city water that I could find anywhere. I wonder if there is a valve somewhere or just something I’m missing.
@cardenasrc51

So, does the engine need to be on when sliding the slides in or out?
@GratefulGlamper
@GratefulGlamper 2 года назад
It’s better on the batteries if the engine is running OR if you’re plugged into shore power.
@SouthFloridaSound
@SouthFloridaSound 3 года назад
Several of your setup procedures are specific to your unit. On many units they key must be off for the levelers (and slides) to operate. Also important to note that plumbing and electrical connections may be very different on a viewers individual unit.
@GratefulGlamper
@GratefulGlamper 3 года назад
Yes they can vary unit to unit. However most of the basic principles remain the same (breaker off before plugging in, water pressure regulator, etc)

Hi! Great video! I have a question for you. Speaking of sewer and black tank stuff, do you guys use special RV toilet paper or can you use regular 2-ply toilet paper?
@GratefulGlamper
@GratefulGlamper 3 года назад
We use septic safe TP.
@vince8705
@vince8705 Год назад
We don’t flush our TP, that eliminates the issue. Yes it sounds gross, but we use a small trash can next to toilet and empty that every day. No problems with clogged drains.

I’m a newbie, when setting up water supply do you turn on your water pump?
@GratefulGlamper
@GratefulGlamper 3 года назад
No, you don’t need to use your water pump when hooked up to city water. Happy camping!
@tm8747
@tm8747 3 года назад
hooking up the water with that flex line is not the best of things, they sell a 90 deg. hookup that goes where you installed that flex line. i would use the 90 degs. first then the flex line then the filter into the water line. installing the flex line, is one day going to break the tie in on the rv making for one day without water for the rv.
