JC Sorry mate, I replied to everyone, I'm just trying to help people out. Not everyone's as computer literate as you. :) How do you know that this is something Sky's pushing on everyone? I mean, you've gotten it in March, and I've gotten it in May, you'd think everyone would get it all at once if that was the case. You'd also think that the Sky forums would be in uproar if it was happening to everyone, but I haven't really seen any complaints as of yet.

Nick Overside As far as I can tell from watching some of their videos, reading their emails and their website, I'm fairly sure they're 'rolling out' broadband shield to all their customers throughout the UK - apparently everyone having it all switched on at once can't happen, hence the slow change. Look at the comments - some have been here since febuary and even 2014...

JC Well, thanks for clearing that up. And you're right, it definitely should be opt in, rather than opt out. I honestly don't understand how the people who make these decisions get to the positions they're in. I'm actually considering changing us over to a new provider because of this, and I expect many will do the same when this comes into full effect. This level of incompetence could cost them millions.

they unblock it at 9PM because that's when most parents send their children to sleep and the parents can start watching pornhub but you can probably have it turned on 24/7 but I'm not sure why anyone would want that

Nick Overside Do you know anything about firefox? Also sky this was not necessary. Not only does this annoy me but also my family because you gave us my father's username on the info flyer about this but not password or the details of which email he (if ever, because he does not remember so) registered with. Now I cannot disable it even though we do not need it.

oXAngelusXo I doubt it since 'incoginto mode' doesn't on Chrome.

I tried it on my dad's pc it doesn't, but I just signed him into his sky account and switched it off. So he's fine now, However I too am a sky customer and I don't seem to have shield on mine and I don't remember opting out. I may start using proxy servers to be on the safe side.

Nick Overside Sky had set this as default for ALL its customers so your mother hasn't done anything. I doubt it gives a report - but you can try 2 things, either ask your mum for the account no. / debit card that pays the bill so you can go and change these bullshit settings OR you can just look up how to get around it - free VPNs etc will help you.

+next gen gaming pc sky had implemented this before ISPs had to have it although some smaller ISPs don't have a mandatory blocking feature
