Here I show you how to set up your radio station for live phone calls. For more information on our internet (online) Radio Stations, visit www.StreamingFREE.TV
didn't read much of the comments so forgive me if someone already pointed this out... Guys, pro audio and video, a BEST PRACTICE is to use BALANCED cables always..RCA is not professional level audio because they are UNBALANCED cables. Use TRS (tip, ring, sleeve) 1/4" cables and 1/8" cables. RCA is consumer level audio/video. You will get a lot better audio quality by staying away from RCA cables.
Thank you for this tutorial, you made this very easy and simple. Most people complicated this thing more than what it had to be. Thank you for simplicity within 4 in ahalf minutes. I have the same mixer and cords and will try this
mix minus is important, set that to max negative on the line in from the phone so they don't hear themselves, normally the red toggle. Great basic vid, cheers.
Please do a little research on OMTP vs. CTIA and then a new video on the subject. This should fix the issue for those who say they still have to speak into their phone mic for the caller to hear them. Thanks for this video. It is very informative.
I'm pretty sure you should hook up the output from the mixer in the AUX SEND, otherwise, the caller will hear himself when the call takes place. If you hook it up as you suggest (in the output or control room), the listener will hear himself back.
Was thinking the same, on this Xynex 802 you need to plug the return line from mixer to the pnone into the fx send, then you can turn down the fx knob on channel of the line coming into the mixer from the phone so they don't hear their own voice when caller is talking. Just make sure fx knob is turned up on channels you want caller to hear.
So this sounds good. I ordered one of those I Rig things but if this works I’ll send it back. I just wanna have love callers on Podcast and not sound like shit.
+Simon Gray I have the same cords he has shown in this vid - 1 RCA, 1 phone splitter, 1 1/4 to 3.5mm. I have it set up exactly how he has it. The RCA in the output of the mixer going into the red end of the splitter, the 1/4 to 3.5mm going from Channel 3/4 to the green end of the splitter. Which cord(s) need to go to the AUX to complete the mix minus, please? Thank you for the help!

Simon Gray I’m about to purchase a similar mixer soon. I just needed some clarification. Let me know if I’m correct, or if I need to make changes. 1. Connect splitter to cell phone 2. Connect 3.5mm to 1/4in cord from cell phone microphone jack to the FX Send 3. Connect another 3.5mm to 1/4in cord from channel of my choice to the cell phone headphonejack 4. Make sure FX of the channel used for the phone calls is muted to avoid feedback
so why don't you make a video and not gripe about this video? I'm just learning and your comments are just making it more confusing for me to understand
great video. just a quick question, if I was to connect my phone to my mixer and I was in the middle of a call, would all the buzzing and noises that comes with texts and notifications play through the mixer for everyone else to hear. which I would imagine would be so irritating. thanks chunky
Works great! watched the video and PRESTO!!! no echo's just clean sound (must say, it helped that I have the same mixer as you have...(novice sound person I am...)
Thank you. If I am. If I am in a conference call with my phone, can I take the sound from the mixer to send it to the others in the conference call too with this set up? Also can you send me the links where I can find these cables, their names too. Thanks and God bless you
hi thank you very much for your helpful video just i have a question i have mixer profx 12 and i connected my phone to mixer as you told me and everything working very good but problem is every time some one calling me he or she can not hear my background music when i put for under their voice so can you tel me what should i do exactly. thanks
I'm trying this setup and I'm running into a problem that I'm hoping you can help me with. I'm doing a live stream on YT using this setup. I can hear myself and the caller fine through my headphones. The callers signal is lighting up my board signal lights but I cannot hear the caller on the stream. I literally have the exact same cable setup that you have in your video. I have the splitter coming out of my iPhone any going into REC OUT. The other 1/8 jack on the splitter is coming out of the phone and into channel 2 and 3 in my board. I'm coming through fine on the stream (my mic) but the caller isn't. I am coming out of the main on my board (only one channel L or R) and going into a Blue Icicle via a mic cable then USB into my MAC. Any ideas? Thanks!
I am so excited about this! I am interested in doing Live Call ins during my Periscope Broadcasts.... This should work fine I think .... If I use my IPAD instead of my IPHONE for Periscope, I would use my iPhone for the phone calls coming in.... correct??? .... last question.... would I just be giving out my Personal Home Phone number for people to call in on??? And I would only be able to receive one call at a time without a way for people to be on hold .... is that correct??? I CANNOT WAIT TO HEAR BACK FROM YOU SO I CAN GET STARTED!!!! Blessings, cindy
Give us a call so we can best advise you on what you may need. Our clients are using our Radio systems mainly to take calls. But we suppose your theory would work.
How do I do it from focusrite Scarlett through the gargeband live on TikTok in iPhone? I can not hear their voice but they can hear me. please help me out thanks
Hi! thank you for this. simple + easy enough. is this a setup i can use for video calls/conferencing using RU-vid Live? perhaps with a two-computer setup?
also, props to everyone pointing out how to make this better. As for the publisher of the video, this is not to talk down to you, this is the audio community looking out for you and others trying to find credible information. I hope we can all learn from this.
Really nice video! Feels like its too easy! =D Just wondering, if I have a mic on channel 1 for example, thats the audio that goes into the mic on the phone, right? I have the USB version of the Q802 that you show in this video, will the caller hear anything that is going on, on the computer as well or is it only my mic that they will hear on the 2-track output?
@@TheStreamingCenter For a radio station I would tend to agree with you but for the basic home setup it would greatly depend on the audio circuitry of the laptop or computer you are using. Some of them are pretty crappy (especially on laptops) and the USB may be better quality.
Scene: I’m a DJ and have an internet radio show Equipment: I run virtual DJ with a broadcast feature through my pioneer DDJ SR2! I also have a Mackie mixer 802VLZ4 QUESTION: can you set up a DJ controller and give us me an example of that with this video?
Hello Sir Question is this kind of mixer can be use also for SMULE?? The PL Sound Mixing console with Bluetooth? Pls I need to know coz I want to buy for Smule.. Thanks.
I have the same mixer but won't work, my radio station software that Im using is Sam Broadcaster Pro, I want to be able to take live calls. I have the USB model
RADIO MI BARRIL i'm from India, i started broadcasting from mixxx, it has 4 options or keys for mic, but how it use, can u please tell me, its very urgent for me to get the solution
It would help so much if you linked your product here. Skipped to the next video and used another place because Im looking for instant access. So just wanted to give feedback
I see he has replied to this vid 7 months..smh does ANYONE KNOW WHY THE VOLUME ON MY PHONE TURNS DOWN WHEN I DO THIS IN CONFIG? Everything is working except that. I am constantly turning back up like it's a limiter in the phone. When I adjust the mixer to make the caller louder they get an echo.
Seems as tho the caller would hear themselves when they talk. If the Phone Mic Out is connected to the Mixers Input Channel, and the the Mixers Output is connected to the phone input channel, just seems as though the caller would hear feedback of themselves. Or maybe I'm thinking too much into this.
My callers are having lots of echo and their speech comes through skipping and garbled on the output of my live shows with this setup. Using Mixxx connecting to airtime server at 64 and 128 kbps. Ogg vorbis, mp3 format. No matter what the settings are I get the same problem. Putting it through a Behringer Q502 USB board.
Hello I’m trying to figure out how to hear them when they call because the person recording the podcast is controlling the audio when Im doing the podcast how will I hear them personally when they Speak
still a great config...but I have an issue. After a while I hear clicks, tik, tik, tik, tik, and then the recording continues, it is ruining the recording. Because I cant hear the interviewee during the clicks. How can than be solved? It seems like the sound/behaviour when a cellphone is close to a fm radio,. the phone contacts the grid? Is'there a solution for this issue?
+Sharon Godson We apologize if no one was available. We actually have a button on the bottom of our website where you can "Submit A Ticket" to our Sales team.
it screams amateur when you put very load music under a tutorial video. Let there be no music or make it very low so we can concentrate on the message..
If I'm streaming through Google Hangouts, and I do this, will the call be heard on the stream? i'm starting a live stream and want people to call in and be part of the show but don't know how to get the calls on the stream.
i see there is a lot of negative comments how this is wrong and that's wrong wire should go here go there. instead of giving gripes why not make a video your selves showing the so-called correct ways. i have been going through loads of videos to try and sus this out but every one waffle and makes it confusing. whether this video is right or wrong its been the simplest show video up to now. if all the other post took note of the simplicity of this video us novices would have a better experience and learn easier. so don't gripe produce a simple video?????????
Or you can get one of those Toll free number companies that give you a number (NOT FREE) 10 bucks a month, and it is forwarded to whatever number/s. You can change time, week days etc. We use freedomvoice.com
but then... the caller will hear themselves on a delay... i thought by using the aux sends or fx sends would do the trick and not send their own channel to them.
Show us full set up phone call live in ur radio station. This'z not intersting info. You just connect cable. That's normal. But how it working you must cheeck ur self in ur video. Brov
