How to set up rope clutches and stop knots 

Herbie ! I'm currently in the process of refurbishing my Lewmar Clutches, and came across this wonderful video (don't know the date it was published). I will try this method to reeve(?) the lines back into the clutch, and send a follow-up comment Refurb = disassemble; polish CRES 316 parts; scrape off UV damaged plastic covers; apply plastic primer; apply clear overcoat (UV-resistant); re-install clutch onto boat.

Just wrap the wire ends together with Scotch tape. Good demo on knots..... 👍👍✔

I believe your stopper knot is called an Admiralty Knot. An Oysterman's Knot is also better stopper knot than a Figure 8 Knot.

Using a bent fish hook and a short steel leader is significantly faster and much easier than fighting with the wire in your method.
