My friend, this video was EXACTLY what I needed! I’ve just spent two hours trying to figure this out myself. I even went into device settings and could hear the noises of the ‘increase volume’ slider coming out of my speakers but no game audio; it was set to ‘chat audio’ the whole time. Thank you so much!

It seems pretty clear that the audio interface has to support USB class-compliant audio, which your Behringer interface does. If your interface only worked with ASIO or proprietary drivers it would not work with the PS4. Luckily nearly every new USB audio interface can work in class-compliant mode.
@@whangw3679 I don't know for sure, but it could be due to how Focusrite implemented Class-Compliant Audio on that interface. I know that my first-gen Scarlett 18i8 doesn't work properly on my Pixel 4a while my Yamaha AG06MK2 works just fine.
Cool vid bro, I was just wanting to connect my xbox through my Scarlett 2i4 to use my studio monitors and i hadnt though plugging it in would work. Currently seeing if it works. Question for you tho, if you're only using headphones wouldn't it be easier to unscrew the 1/4" adapter from the headphones and plug the 3.5 straight into the controller? (I have the DT 770 pair, i just prefer closed back headphones for gaming) And also yes i realise im a year late to ask that question lol
When I plug my focusrite scarlett solo it doesn’t recognise the device. I plugged my shure sm7b into my audio interface via xlr and then plugged the audio interface into the front of the ps4 with the usb cable but when I go into devices and click audio devices, no device comes up
I like this idea. Being that I'm one of those with a focusrite interface I'm going to look for a USB to 1/4" TRS (balanced) cable to see if that does the trick. I know those old Rocksmith ps3 games came with a USB to TS (mono) which i have, somewhere.... so the tech is out there.... Maybe there's a USB to XLR cable (male) somewhere... NOT DMX cables that's for lights.
Hey does the mic also work on the ps4 because I have a mixer with a bunch of voice boxes connected and a synth and I use soundboards and make music live or play music through it, and also what usb codec were you using or what would you reccomend
I see no reason why mic wouldn't work if you have it set up properly in the PS settings section! As for the codec, it was installed as part of the driver package for my audio interface. I just went to this link www.behringer.com/downloads.html looked for UM2 model of my interface and downlaoded the driver, which included the USB audio codec. I would just do the same for your audio interface model!
Thank you! But I won't be able to talk to my chat, or hear The music coming from the computer.. Do you think it's a way around that.. Do they have a usb with 2 ends on one side. I want to be able to talk to the ppl I'm playing online with and I want to be able to talk to my stream chat on the mic that's coming from my interface
i have dt770s, the closed back version of those beyerdynamic headphones, and just wanted to say this incase it goes for you aswell, my 1/4" trs jack on my headphones is removable, it came with the headphones, but if you twist it, like a screw i think it comes off, it looks like it for yours aswell
@danielplays how do you turn the game volume down from the stream once the audio interface is hooked up? My game play volume is just as loud as my voice. Appreciate it your work
Helpful, however, why did you feel the need to tell your whole story on discovery? If you feel the need maybe toss at back half as the context and the troubleshooting you did is helpful info, but you could've shown the most valuable info, the solution, in about 30-60 seconds right up front.
Not sure what the problem is but my PS4 doesn’t see any interface connected. I’ve tried three different interfaces including the one you used in the video. None of them work. This is my second PS4. Can’t say PlayStation sent out two defective units or that every audio interface is busted. Are you sure your not skipping a step?
because many interface don't work. neither of my umc204hd and yamaha mg12xu mixers works. and i heard many focusrite don't work either. some behringer mixers (not audio interfaces) do work, which work only as an usb audio input but the usb output function still lacks.
@@akilpatrick6926 Focusrite doesn't have the generic "USB Audio Codec". Mainly Behringer low-end USB interfaces, and majority of their mixers do. Presonus, Motu and Steinberg interfaces don't work with the PS4 either.
@@Yaxda Most likely no. The only one I personally have experience with is the Behringer UMC22 (fairly inexpensive), though you will have some hiss on the output. I don't know why this is, as that hiss is non-existant when connected to a PC.

Idk if you will respond but I have the same audio interface that I’ve been using with my ps5 but when I connect my headphones they sound so quiet through the interface does anyone have a solution? All the nobs are turned up and it’s maxed out in the settings
Maybe check how you are powering the interface or switch power sockets. Also try testing it with different headphones and different cables to see if there is a difference. Other than that it could be a hardware issue inside the interface itself. That's about all I could think of. Let me know if you solved the problem already or still stuck.
So I have the input and output to the same, the audio is working but the mic isn't. it's not a problem with the microphone because when I self monitor from the interface it works perfectly fine

Yeah but you should be able to boost sounds volume in Windows, and make sure that the programs don’t take control over the device. All options you can enable/disable in sounds settings in Windows, it helps

Hmm, I have the same exact audio interface UM2 with a PS4 and an aftermarket cable from the interface into the PS4. All the settings are set as you have here but when I try to Learn a Song in Guitarsmith it says "It seems like the Real Tone Cable isn't plugged in. Plug in cable and try again" or something like that. This is so frustrating as I bought the audio interface because playing the game with the cable has so much lag it's unplayable. I've sunk quite a few hours playing around with settings and everything I can think of until I found you're post and thought I was home free because it looks like you have the same exact setup as me. What kind of audio cable are you using? That's the only thing I can think of creating this problem. If you or anyone can provide some help I would be very grateful. Thanks!
heyy man, i’m trying to plug in my guitar through an audio interface to play rocksmith 2014. when i connect the interface to ps4 with an usb cable, it recognizes it as a microphone, and i can see the sound coming in the ps4 in the settings, but rocksmith 2014 still don’t recognize this as a valid microphone. does anyone knows how to help me?
Yeah the max is not super high, definitely wild like to have higher volume sometimes, but it’s enough for the most part. The only way to be able to get more volume out of the headphones is having more powerful audio interface that can handle more ohm 🤷♂️ you get what you pay for lol
It should work exactly the same. Not sure why your interface is recognized as a mouse, maybe try to install new firmware/plug and play codec. You can do that by connecting it to a PC and following the manufacturer's support page. There are some drivers available here. I don't think most audio interfaces come with a usb plug in for a microphone. To be honest, PS4 has 2 USB ports, you can easily use one of these USB ports to plug in your Blue Yeti microphone. If you don't have enough USB ports, you can always buy a USB hub that adds the number of USB ports you can use with your PS4.
Oh, that's not for the USB cable from an audio interface. That thing is a keyboard/mouse converter, that allows me to play on a PS4 with a keyboard and a mouse, instead of a controller. Nothing to do with a content of this video, but still extremely useful accessory lol
It works well enough for me to be honest. Can’t go SUPER loud, but loud enough to play games, watch movies and listen to music. For the price, definitely worth it.
What sucks is you can’t use the audio interface in one usb port and then plug your usb microphone in the other which sucks. If you have an answer then please comment on this
Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro (250 ohm version) one of the best if not the best studio quality headphones that are budget friendly. They are about $130, which for the quality of sound is unmatched, definitely recommend for gaming or listening to music (or playing music, I use them for my piano sessions too)
The thing is. I have my old interface with an USB-B port. It works fine. I've bought a new interface with an USB-C port and tried connect it, but it won't show up on my Output Device section so I can't scelect it. There is absolutely no point buying a new interface if it doesn't wanna work on my PlayStation. I've done tons of research, I've been looking for videos on how to recover it. I can't find any videos to help, so if you know, please let me know. And yeah I've tried connecting it and re-connecting it to my plystation. It still won't show up. And I'm about to give up soon.
im using a broadcaster headset with xlr for the mic and big plug for the headphones its connected to my ssl 2 audio interface but my ps4 doesnt recognize it at audio devices
Ugh that's a tough one. If you checked all the different settings I showed in the video, the only thing I can think of is to install a codec. Sometimes you gotta plug the interface to a PC, install plug and play codec and then PS4 recognizes it, other than that I have no real experience with SSL2, but it should work as any other USB audio interface :/
This should work exactly the same. Make sure you have the latest firmware installed and also the plugNplay codec. Sometimes these are first needed before PS4 recognizes the interface
That should work exactly the same way, as long as your speakers are connected to the interface and your interface to PS4, it should pick them up as long as your settings are set properly.

Not sure what do you mean by alter? This method allows your microphone and headphones to be picked up by the PS4 so you can use them. I don't think this will allow you to alter your voice unless you are using some voice alteration gadget lol
What do you mean by speaker monitors? if you have speakers connected to the interface (instead of headphones for example), then yes it will work the same. Some monitors however have speakers, those should be working as a result of the direct connection between the PlayStation and your monitor.
You don't see an USB Audio Codec option to select it in the "Output Device" menu? If that's the case, you might need to first install an audio codec for PS4 to recognize it. I did that by connecting the audio interface to my PC, installed the USB Audio Codec and it worked afterwards.
