Jeremy I need some more advice 😄! My car has fallen off pace more and more. I'm wondering if i have way too high of spring rates. Trying to get it dialed for nasa finals and only have a few events to do before im out of setup time. So c7z 3650 lbs in race trim with driver. Mid sized dual element rear wing, pretty large and good design front splitter with diffusers but homemade so not the level of df as something like a carbon custom time attack splitter, unknown aero load but probably higher than average downforce. Running hoosier r7 and a7 tires depending on level of competition. Hopefully that's enough information for you to recommend a starting spring rate for coilovers. Or what would you start at? I know in one of your videos you said you like a softer car. I personally do too but dont want to go too far one way or another. Damping is set for higher rate but i can get revalved no problem. Thank you!
Hi Clayton. I'm not certain if motion ratios are the same on the c7s nor am I familiar with the weight distribution. I'm guessing the supercharger etc leans that car close to 55% front weight. That said, I'd probably be in the 700 front and 600 rear range for that much weight and aero on Hoosiers. There are so many other factors to consider and it's hard to say if your spring rates are an issue. What deficiencies have you noticed in handling?
Hey Jeremy. Got a question about rake. On a c7 with medium aero would you run the car flat, raked, or negative rake. I'm actually trying 1/2" of negative rake based off what my suspension guy is saying but would love to have some more input with someone with a corvette that races it.
Hi Clayton. I would never run negative rake or nose high as it's terrible for aero. I usually run even but you can put the nose down a little more for slightly more downforce and front grip. I have never gotten too caught up on rake other than making sure it's not negative. I focus more on corner balance.
@jtswenson05 Thanks so much for the response. Why I asked cause just seems so wrong. The negative rake does go against everything I've learned over the years but was unsure what effected it would have. Good to know. I'm going to put back even for now. And maybe dial a little rake in at the track. It's 1/2" opposite right now, lol.
