The app isn’t working for me. It’s the same Alexa app you have but it doesn’t have all the features it’s supposed to have so I can’t connect it to my echo dot. I’ve tried updating the app and refreshed it a thousand times and it still doesn’t work.☹️
Hey Mateo - I've researched why you don't have the same buttons as I do on the app and I can not figure it out either. The only other question I have is what operating system are you using? I'm wondering if that has something to do with it? I had no idea about the flex until I just researched it after your comment. Amazon is really wanting their speakers everywhere in our homes huh? lol That flex though is super cool and small. My Mom (91) has an Ipad but no cell phone is the Echo Dot still a good choice for her I just want her to have a chance to ask Questions when she is alone (weather, news, time etc) or would Google mini work with her Ipad. ??
Hey Debra, so I did some investigating in order to answer your question. Unfortunately you do need a phone number for the Amazon Echo devices HOWEVER, I was able to use my account and set up the Amazon Echo Dot as if I was giving it to my Dad who lives in Gulfport, MS. I'm not sure where your mom lives in relation to you but if you had the Echo dot sent to you, you could install the app on your phone, using your account but put in her WiFi information (if she has an iPad I'm thinking she must have Wifi because that is needed for these devices to work. After you put in the Wifi information it will ask you the address of this device. Your address probably shows up but you can uncheck that and click on the add address button. Start typing in her address and eventually it will appear in the drop down section. Add that address and now the weather, time and other things around the area will be customized to her location. I'm thinking of doing a video tutorial walking us kids through the entire process of setting these devices up for our parents and grand parents. Hey here’s the problem I’ve been having: basically whenever I’m trying to log into the app, right after I’m done putting in the code from my phone number, it just gives me a blank screen and then when I restart the app it just brings me to the Home Screen with nothing to Do
