I was compelled to say thank you - i contacted godaddy chat support and they were as useful as an appendicitis about to burst. but following along this 5-minute tutorial was such a breeze. again thanks
Man, if you ever come to Colombia, call me. You just won a cup of coffee. Thank you so much for helping me to fix a problem that my provider, Hostgator, was unable to fix after 3 chat sessions and 1 call. Bye!
Thanks man, I'd been going back and forth, did everything right, godaddy support took hours saying they were working instead they were waiting for something to happen itself /:) Anyways, the simple tip to anyone who has done everything right in the WHM - like the OP said, edit the zone file and add two new A record entries pointing to the ip Big Thumbs Up [Respect]
Thanks Danny! Your video helped me get set up. Really appreciate it. One note, you never update the correct value on your NS2 while editing your DNS Zone file or in godaddy when registering. However you do say make sure your values are correct, but it threw me off slightly.
Lenny Rowell Thanks for watching. I looked at the video and didn't notice it but I did notice that sometimes Godaddy doesn't updated the hostnames when you add 2 at the same time and it is then required to add the 2nd nameserver again...
CreatingaWebstore I have seen that before as well. Try removing and re-adding the hostnames to correct that issue. You can also make sure the names are registered at this site(for .com and .net domains): www.internic.com/whois.html Make sure you press the option for name servers before submitting.
Thanx a lot buddy! one question if i may: on 3:59,when naming a custume nameservers,i get the msg: you must enter a registared nameserver. But everything else was done, what could be the reason for that? thanx again, awesome guide!
To make it even more clear, when changing the Host Names in Godaddy, actually the Host Names are called glue records for a new DNS server, as opposed to for a new domian. That really means to tell Godaddy, now I want to detach from you, as a new DNS server, as opposed to as a new domain. I don't need your help to resolve my fellow domains from now on. I can take care of them. In this case, The new DNS server has only one fellow domain, it was itself. The reason to fill in some IP addresses in the Host Names in Godday is like to tell Godaddy their IP addresses (think about as phone number) before leaving, saying, in case someone asks you about my fellow domains, let them to contact me by these IP addresses(phone numbers). The role here is as a new DNS server, as opposed to a new domain. I hope this makes the whole thing a bit more clear.
+Elgs Chen Actually the more proper name server I think should be the hosting domain name that is hosting isaveplaza.com. In this case, it's just isaveplaza.com happens to share the same IP address as its hosting server, so it doesn't matter to tell Godaddy a different name but behind is the same IP.
+Elgs Chen Essentially in Godaddy's page, adding the Host Names is for isaveplaza.com as a new DSN server, and adding nameserver is for isaveplaza.com as a new domain.
Great video, very helpful. Can you explain how one sets up a Crontab, similar to GoDaddy's shared hosting accounts, on a non-shared VPS or dedicated via VHM/cPanel?
Jacob Arensus It depends whether you have a cPanel or old Godaddy control panel installed on your shared hosting account. If it's cPanel, it should be the same as in the video. I would shoot a video on the process but I don't have a Godaddy shared hosting account with cPanel installed.
Hello Great tutorial for VPS users but can you tell me how to change name servers if domain is hosted example at Dynadot and shared hosting is on Godaddy.I really can;t find that solution, and no one can't explain.
thanks a lot brother, that was very helpful, better than godaddy support, I've been chatting with them for 3 days and no use, with your video it was solved in three minutes
hi , if the account on the vps have no dedicated IP, will the setting still the same? will the dns zone setting still link to the shared IP address? thanks
Are you talking about alloted private nameservers or the nameservers of your whm provider. I my case I am with wnsserver.com. Ac cording to your tutorial i put the first set of ns1 and ns2 on the page as the domain name i created? and in the boxes below the line Iput in the wnsserver ns1 & ns2> including the assigne ip for them after the select box on the right where A is chosen? I don't have private nameservers so at my domain registrar i put in my host whm sellers ns1wnsseerver and ns2.wnsserver Is that right?
