@@alecowens9639 I havent tested them all as it would be impractical. I can only suggest following their guidance on compatibility. Dongles don't make things compatible usually.

Hi John, how does the mac respond while using the Display link on an M1 that doesn’t officially support more than one external screen? More specifically, are all the menu bars, dock, etc tricked into working as if using two screens on a machine that can do so natively, or is it more of a case that the menus, dock etc always appear on the main screen? @@ivanosus5633 yeah, it can be finicky at times, but I’ve spent about 7 months jumping between Mac and Windows The display program eats some performance, that’s the worst part but I don’t do anything too intensive

Thank you, Sean! I had had a hard time trying to solve this issue until I run into your video. All set up now. I just have an issue using my headphones when connected to the front of the hub; it would really mess up Zoom (crashed) every time I tried to use it this way. I still have to try to connect a back up drive through the hub to see how it worked. monitors are doing well. Any comment on these issues?

I just have one question; isn't there another way, with all the time that has passed since these MacBooks were released, other than getting a DisplayLink-compatible hub? I'm concerned about the extra cost, as these hubs are not regular low-cost hubs

I had to discover this setup because the issue is caused by a hardware limitation on the M1 systems, when the M2 and newer systems have been coming out, it has meant that they don't have the same issue as they can use Thunderbolt for one of the monitors. However with M1, there are no other ways to make this work. There is a link in the description for the compatible hubs and you don't always need the latest and greatest to make this work. There should be a few more affordable options to get you up and running. Thanks for watching and commenting, I hope this helps!

Hi there! Curious to know if anyone else has run into any problems with the Night Shift option. When switched on, the Macbook screen works, and ONE of the TWO monitors also works. However, it's a little distracting as I have one warm external monitor and the other blue light (cool). Thanks!! 😊

Hi Sean ! can you run multiple applications on mac book pro with 2 external monitors with no hiccups ?. i.e. running individual applications on different screens.. i have a macbook pro i5 with quad core 2019 model . if yes then do these applications run on individual cores or single core takes all the load.. sorry for the detailed question..

hi, I wanna ask about the cable. I've read ur comment to others below, from MacBook need cable USB-C to USB-A adapter. Then to connect from the USB-A adapter to DisplayLink hub is by using USB-A to USB-B Superspeed. Does the cable USB-A to USB-B Superspeed is included when buying the hub, or we need to buy the cable seperately?

I've got two 4K Ultrawide monitors and I can only seem to get the display to mirror on the external monitors. I ensured the mirror setting was disabled in system preferences. Not sure what else to try. MacBook is a 2021 pro with Intel i9 chip.

Hi, very useful Video! I'm thinking about buying the dell d6000 for my macbook m1 2020 but I'm not sure if it would work with an external monitor + a Huion display graphics tablet, will the tablet be able to be used normally? Or will it not work? (My monitor works via DisplayPort, hdmi or usb -c. The tablets works with usb c or with a 3in 1 cable where the usb-c part goes into the tablet and hdmi and usb part into the computer) Can anybody help me or had experience with it?

Does using the USB A adapter reduce resolution and refresh rate as opposed to using a USB C dock? Also does this pass charge, as ideally I wouldn't want to keep my mac on continuous charge?

Hey Sean, thanks very much for the super helpful video. In terms of powering up the MacBook Pro M1 you are doing so via a separate power USB-C cord directly to the laptop instead of through the hub, correct? Any issues with all the cables on that side of the laptop?

Yeah, it depends but with the hub I'm using, I can't power the laptop so it's a bit of a pain. Some hubs can power the laptop though, so there are always some options out there.

I've subscribed and rang the bell, so I'd like to ask a question. I'm currently trying to decide between a two display setup for my Macbook M1 as shown here, or buying the LG 49WL95C Ultrawide screen. Do you have any thoughts on this. Two respectable monitors are about the same price as the LG, nor sure however whether it will work and what extra hardware I'd need. Thanks 👍

I bought Pluggable UD-3900Z and I connected it to my MacBook Air M1 with dual monitor exactly as discussed earlier. Everything connected well but when I am idle for 1 or 2 mins both monitors with mouse are frozen and not working. I have to unplug and plug the USB-C cable to make it work.

Hi LUX - I recently bought a plugable USBC display adapter which has two HDMI outlets and connects straight to my M1 Macbook Pro but only one monitor is outputting anything while the other screen is simply blank. DisplayLink detects both monitors and I can't seem to figure out what the issue is, I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting as well as rebooting my laptop but still have the same result, do you know any other ways I can troubleshoot this issue?

When I connect my Macbook pro M1 computer and caldigit usb-c pro dock station and 2 viewsonic displays via display port, I cannot get images on both screens at the same time. Only one is working. The display link driver does not appear among the extensions. I still can't get images even though I have given all permissions. I am using macOS Ventura. i download the software and installed it but when I open the displaylink icon it says "No monitor detected" although my 2 external monitors are displaying mirror image of each other.And when i go to display settings it only detects one external monitor. Any idea? I dont have the DELL dongle you have but i do have a dongle that allows me to connect 2 HDMI to my USB-C port. Im also using a macbook pro M1 (2020 model)
