How To Setup My Awning Extension Sheet - [ SIMPLE SETUP ]

I show you how to setup my awning extension sheet from my roll out awning.
My awning extension sheet receives a lot of enquiries from people wanting to know where i got it from, and how do i go about the setup of the awning sheet on my own.
One thing i like about all of my camping gear, it's all very simple to setup on my own, and the extension awning sheet is no exception.
When I'm camping in the one spot for a couple of days or longer, i will setup my extension sheet to give me a lot more room and protection from the weather.
It sure doesn't take very long at all to fully setup my awnings and it's so worth it once it's all setup.
Then it's time to kick back and relax.

Thanks, Tim, even King's 2.5 × 2.5 metre awnings have sail cloth attached to awning sheets.

The King awnings are basically a consumable for me (I have a bad habit of not tying them down!). That being the case, if you are in same boat, pull your old one apart - and bingo - you have an awning extension which will slot into your new one just like Tim's. Not to mention a couple poles which you can use with it - particularly if you have an eyelet tool.

My first awning wall/extension came as a freebie from 4wx Supacentre when I purchased something else. I now have another that has been made using an old awning top. It has the thicker section on both ends to attach to my awning, Velcro down each side to connect it to my awning legs if I want it straight down and eyelets from Bunnings to peg it down or attach guy ropes, polls etc

G’day Tim. Excellent idea mate. Thank you for the vid. Having a motor trimmer do this up is a bonus as you could alter the cut out design to include triangular side walls that enclose the far end blocking out rain that can simply be rolled up in fine weather. Good setup Tim. I’m on my third awning. Almost on the point of giving up. It’s the rain. I’ve tried dropping one corner but the rain still pools on them. Last one destroyed at Running Creek Jamesion. I’ll admit, the rain that night was heavy. I was in my rooftop tent and did register the rain. But still slept through. Then when I got up in the morning the awning was a mangled mess with half of the Haqua River in what was left of the awning.

@@timbates4wdadventures I don’t use the 270 batwing because all the poles and ropes and pegs etc. I bought a Drifta DOT recently, and to be honest we’ll never camp with out the trailer so only need the awning if we do a day trip away from base camp or need shade for a lunch stop etc. I would love a drifta free standing 270 but can’t justify the cost as we’ve only used the 270 4 times in two years.

Yeh, I'm totally the opposite, had the basic awning and hardly every used it as cumbersome to set up. I then got a Bundutec Bunduawn 360° unit. Continuously utilised due to the simplicity to erect plus it shades the rear, the side and over bonnet/windscreen. It is quick, unzip bag, release retainer straps, then pivot around and ratchet into position. Repeat for opposing side. As it pivots individual built in uprights lift the awning fabric higher than mounting point hence providing a very good rake so as water doesn't pool if it rains Being a freestanding design it's regularly used for quick shade on warm days. If setting up overnight I put four poles in, 4 screw in pegs. Ropes are permanently attached to awning, so it's really simple to achieve. Pack up, release ratchet straps, pivot each around, roll up, strap and zip bag. Dead set simple so it's regularly utilised. Haven't attached walls yet, primarily as that will make it cumbersome and time consuming assembling & packing away. Keeping it simpler is best.

Hi Tim, they are definitely a good idea if your moving camp around each day, but as a base camp for multiple days or longer i find it a pain not be able to use the car multiple times in one day once that's all set up, to go fishing or hunting collecting fire wood or go 4 wheeling. Once that is all set up you can't use the car until you pack up camp.

Great videos mate. A bit off topic but just got back into camping in my Hilux took your advice and invested in a swag after I found setting up and pulling down the tent was just too much work, had to get a stretcher tho, once I'm down on the ground I'm pretty well there for the duration, makes it difficult for overnight potty breaks. I'm taking on board your camping set up too but I have a question, what do you do about storing clothes etc, I'm just using an old suitcase I drag around the tub, seems to work OK but. Maybe another video there? along with personal hygiene etc. Keep up the great work, you've inspired me to get back to my roots in the bush even if I am driving and not walking.
