HOW TO SETUP ONKYO TX-NR609 RECEIVER REVIEW, SURROUND SOUND CONNECTING 5.1 or 7.1 SPEAKERS & CALIBRATE SPEAKERS, on Onkyo Remote press "receiver" then "setup" button go to "hardware" then "hdmi control" set to "on" using "ARC" audio return channel will take out the need to use any audio cables like optical audioout on tv to Receiver optic input since the recvr. HDmi out is an audio input as well if the ARC setting under hardware hdmi is ON & the Hdmi cable out to TV ARC input (hdmi1 or 2) is set on tv as well. this will also turn Recvr on when you turn ON the TV so the 2 are in Sync. to activate the "port" ipod modeb just press "port" then "THX" button a couple times (its clearish white middle button) Onkyo is an Universal remote that can be programmed to all your devices too just hold BD/DVD & display then plug in the code of the device. its defaulted to Scientific Atlanta cable box so no need to even program that. please do in daylight on a table and get the vid cam on a tripod.

Hi; You have great information on the subject but very poor video. highly recommended to get your self a tripod to shoot the video and also some lighting for some low light shots. Thanks.

@Son Nguyen the difference between linear pcm and birstream is bitstream is just that ps3 is just outputting the surround format. That us why u see the format on the display on ur receiver. Linear pcm isn't a surround format. Its a type of audio to go along with whatever format ur receiver is decoding. When in a movie if u switch to bitstream it'll say dts when u go to pcm its still decoding dts but with pcm and is why multichannel in on display.

dude,can you help me? my reciever isnt playing sound through certain listening modes,it did before but not now, i have HDMI cable hooked from av reciever to bluray and HDMI cable hooked from tv to reciever,should i connect optical cable from tv to reciever also?

I am going to hook up a 7.2 receiver similar to this one and have two questions if you don't mind answering. First, beyond the network connection between the router and the receiver to actally play movies on my pc that will be displayed on the tv can't I run a hdmi out of the pc into the receiver? I want to be able to go into the computer room in my house play a movie on my pc and send the sound and video to the receiver/monitor. Second question when speaking of zone two you mention patio and pool but as far as my home I have a man cave directly below my living room how many speakers does the zone 2 hook up support. Can I actually have a second sub run to zone 2 or have it become a 5.1 suround for the basement bar/cave room? Thanks!
