Watched tons of videos on how to set up my zv-1 .. yes some where helpful but this video literally answered all my questions / issues I had with the zv-1. Appreciate this
Just wanted to say thank you. What a great detailed video that moved fast and didn't apologise for asking me to pause and check my own camera along the way. I've been using an A6400 for work videos for 18 months and just got the ZV-1 for my own business. I feel like the ZV-1 does everything the A6400 does for me and now thanks to you, I can hopefully prove myself right.
@@thefilmalliance I normally shoot product comparison and sample videos at work but found your video really helpful for some music video shooting which is something I get dragged into. Thanks again
Very helpful , I just got that camera and new to photography. Unbelievable all the settings there are, wow! Definitely a lot of technology built in. Amazing for what it is.
This was very helpful! I learned SO much about my Sony and feel much more comfortable with it now. Pair this with his video about HLG3 or any other one where he tells how to custom white balance. This camera skews to a very orange skin tone if you do not white balance indoors.
I just bought the ZV-1 for vlogging and some B-roll so I found your video very useful. I just set up my camera and tomorrow morning ?ill go on the track to make some footage with my bike! thanks so much for helping!
That’s awesome, go out and use it until you become a master with it. It takes time but pretty soon you will be on full control which will give you more creative freedom
Can you go over setting up the camera for use with a gimbal please? You skipped over that part. I have the Ronin RSC2 and I can’t find any guidance on settings and connections yet. Thanks in advance.

Could you tell me if this settings also work for the zv1f? I have been thinking about buying the zv1f for filmmaking. Which one would you recommend?
Such a helpful tutorial, great information w/ the mode and functioning options. Do you have any information about the utilization of an external mic. As you stated, I also choose 26 as the audio level but was having trouble w/ the 3.5 inch cord for a RODE Lav microphone. I wonder if this is a settings issue that needs to be adjusted to manual, and/or does it have anything to do with the 3.5 inch TRRS cord? Do you have any recommendations on how to properly use an external Lav mic (with cord).
@@thefilmalliance Sony zv-1 and we also just ordered the gimble. We're excited to see how.it comes out for our foodie channel. The Wandering Foodudes. You can see we needed these settings in the past videos . But now we should hopefully be good.
@@thefilmalliance My husband and I are amateurs making content for a variety of online platforms. We film a wide variety of subjects from dance classes, to handsewing instructionals, to informative interviews, travel reviews, and cooking classes. Its been a massive learning curve from our first video to now.
I'm trying to follow along but I'm unable to get the FStop to 1.8 like you're doing at 11:32 (lowest I can go is 2.8). Any Idea of where I'm missing ? And by the way, your content is just awesome, I learned so much with your videos!
Sony should include this video with the zv-1 purchase instead of no instructions with a $800 product I just bought this and was like a deer looking into headlights thank God for RU-vid
Thanks for this video. Just set mine up. Do you have one similar to set up for Photography for this camera? I assume it’s the Picture Profile you mentioned at the end of the video? Do you have a link to set that up please
Here are two links to the videos. Hope that they help ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TgFEOBhvvK8.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m0SXW2gkB2Y.html
Wow You are Gentleman 🙏 😉I decided to buy my first video shooting camera for food chanel shots and of course passionate amateur photography and as I know sony is one of the best brand on the electronics market and I really fall in love with the the ZV1. I would like to asking about slow motion options how it's works and how able to manage it.? Thanks a million 🙏🤗
Great video thank you! I have a question. I set my C2 button the same as yours. What I don't like is that the display doesn't tell you if you are in Manual or Auto focus.
Thank you so much, I watch your every video you post and follow you for the great content you produced. One thing I have noticed... it is not a big issue but I thought you may want to focus on it. I have noticed your hand was shaking more than normal during this tutorial. you know more than me how to fix it but just in case if you have not noticed that.
Hey! I just purchased this camera as my first one for my channel. I did everything for the cinematic mode and my screen is appearing really dark. All I would have to do then is turn down the ISO to 1/10?
my sony zv1 told me that my memory card isnt compatible with the two settings you made in "memory set up". I have already got a memory card and I dont wanna buy another one :( im just going to work with the auto movie :(
Thx for your video, this is the most informative video compare to other's. but I found that I do not have the option of "100p 100M" in the "record setting", moreover, no "960fps" in the "HFR" frame rate setting. Do you know why? Thank you in advance😊
Sorry for replying to a 3y old comment. Im sure you figured it out. Anyhow to anyone else, its cause your camera is set to either PAL or NTSC. Reason is video wont flicker in indoors light, since different standards of 50/60 hertz power is used in different part of the world. Change the PAL/NTSC setting in camera and those missing framerates will be available. Warning, camera wants to erase the SD card when switching that setting!
Yes, there should be a way to do it, although I am not a hundred percent that I know how. How are you liking it btw? Have you seen the latest KOLD vid? After watching that video, it made me want to start using Divinci.
Joe...I’ve watched tons of videos on the ZV-1. And I mean TONS. I don’t usually comment...but when I do it’s right here because dang dude...this was helpful and I appreciate the extra explanation behind everything. Thank you! 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Wow that was a nice comment, thanks for that. I really appreciate you took the time to not only comment but say such a nice thing. Thanks for jumping on board as we learn this stuff!
During lock down i fancied getting into photography so i randomly bought the zv1 and didnt know a thing about it ..... then i found this guys channel.... wow what a legend this man is so informative and does what he does brilliantly .... defo deserves more subs
I saved for a while and just bought Sony ZV-1 so I can upgrade the quality of my videos and for now your videos have been giving me so much help and information in the process of learning. I hope your channel grows and grows each and every day, you totally deserve it! Thank you so much for the amazing way you teach me and others!
i watched this video at least five times. I always think I'm an adult and can go out in the field and operate this thing, but I always come back here to fix my settings after I failed myself lol. I subscribed b\c of this video and your endless content on the ZV-1. Hope you're still around when I finally graduate to Sony VENICE.
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much! I just bought this camera and I have no idea about cameras at all so this video was exactly what I was looking for!! Can't wait to see more :)
Amazing stuff, Joe. Watched this video when I bought my zv1 a year ago and never did anything, but I’m back again and re-inspired to create with this camera! Thanks for the great work
The camera is poorly designed. The tripod mount blocks the battery door, the battery life is so poor and the very old USB port in 2020 is terrible. Please don't encourage people to purchase this camera as it's disappointing to say the least!
Hey bro I have watched many of your videos about zv1 now I’m confused I want to buy camera for vlogging and also cinematic short… should I buy zv1 or not.. waiting for your reply
Thanks so much Joe. You are amazing and I always get so much value out of your videos. You are no doubt the best filmaking youtuber out there. 😍😍 Keep them coming!
Actually i said thank you after 10 mins in the video now I finished the video and really appreciate your effort and time for taking us through all of that brother 🙏🏼🤘🏽
Hi, im new to cameras. Right now I do videos with my galaxy s21 and because de 1x is to close for recording my legos, I select .5 But in this camera it doesn't give me that widely aspect. Do I need a camera with lenses?
That was hugely helpful. Especially for setting the custom buttons! The only thing is you were showing that you set HFR in your functions menu but I don't think that let's you toggle to HFR mode. You still have to hit mode first and go to HFR mode. Def correct me if I'm wrong!
Brilliant observation! You are correct. Thank you fro taking the time to comment that! Hugely helpful to the community. The HFR settings if the function menu are only set to HFR FPS setting. You do still have to access HFR through the HFR mode. You are very observant great work! I would still leave the HFR setting within the function menu so you can quickly toggle between the high frame rate options while you are in the HFR mode. Thanks again
Thanks for the guide! One remark though: For slow motion, you set the fps to 120 and the shutter speed to 1/250s. Since you are slowing it down in post to 24fps, I would set the shutter speed to the maximum of 1/125s shutter speed for smoother motion blur. That´s because, the double shutter speed should still be 1/50s, because of the used 24fps in post. As of course your maximum shutter speed is not 1/50s at 120fps while shooting, but 1/125s, this is the next best thing.
This is great information. So when Im shooting in 120 change the shutter to 1/125 if Im using a 24 FPS timeline. This is why I love this community. Someone has valuable information and they pass it along rather than keep it to themselves. We appreciate your willingness to share. I look forward to using this method on my next slowmo (If I can remember). Awesome comment! Thank you
This is exactly what I needed to find tonight, thank you both!! I’m also having trouble filming my vlogs because I want to use intelligent auto filming in 24fps because I shoot a lot of gym videos with incredibly unreliable lighting but in iAuto it changes my frame rate on its own. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Adam
I'm a newbie at cameras. Does anyone know why when I use the ZV1, I get overly ridiculed, sometimes I even get a little laugh.. But I really appreciate this video because it seems like it is the story, not much the camera. I don't know. Any advice will be great.
Wow! Such an awesome video. I set up my camera and learning so much. I’m learning how to do B-roll from your videos. I’m a new RU-vidr and still learning. Thanks you.
Hi Joe, I really like your content and would like YOUR PERMISSION to share some of this video on one of my You Tube Channels to promote you and it will be like a Picture in Picture kind of video with a Top 10 You Tubers that have influenced me so far in my journey to become a You Tuber...😀
ilike to much all your video I only bought Sony ZV-1 for your videos, I’m Italian, The settings are different here the camera registered in 25 fps, my setting are: 25 fps 50m F1.8 1/50 for the slo-motion 100 fps 100m, 1/200 f1.8
@@thefilmalliance no problem, thanks to you for putting your experience and advice into play. I have a request for you, where can I write to you privately?
"Focus area wide. There's different focus areas. But for the most part I use wide..." 2:07 --- I guess you changed your mind about this. I just finished watching another one of your ZV1 videos and in that one you say you almost always use center focus area.
Once I turn my settings 120p it seems my auto focus with only "spot focus" as oppose to "track focus" when I'm in 24p. Is there a way to change that? Am I doing something wrong?
Hey I was wondering why we use 24 for vlogging and filming people talking to the camera. Why would we not use higher frames, does it just decrease the quality of the look?
