How to Setup Spektrum Dual Rate and Expo

Dr. Expo, I'm 64 and just switched over to Spektrum 2.4 and I was trying to figure things out, and I'm by no means a techie. I got to tell you, your video for DX6i D/R and Expo was a big help! Now I have a better understanding of what the hell is going on. Thanks and FLY ON!!!

you guys are all inclusive...from rank amateur, raw newb info, to intermediate onto "for the expert" additional info presentations. the clever garb and whatnot sets you apart, as well, imho. thx for making us newbs less intimidated and well entertained, in the process. kudos to you and keep the vids coming :)

Out of all the explanation videos out there,yours was best! I went out and got me a Dynam Waco Biplane ( Yay for BiPlanes) I had a hard time figuring out what the heck I was doing wrong. I needed more travel on my Airelons but couldnt figure out why I wasnt getting the travel. It was because I didnt have my rates adjusted properly. I feel like an idiot now. I was using rates in 0 as the lower number and the 0 in Expo as the higher number. And I couldnt figure out where Expo was.duh. Of course I was using Rates 1 as higher number and 1 Expo as higher number. What an idiot... Thanks to you,I now have my settings correctly. I did figure how to set all switchs to one instead of individual switches. Now if I could just figure out how to get my gear switch to shut off my damn navigation lights.

Dude, thanks so much, took a hell of a lot of personal trial and error out of the equation. Dx6i is very un-intuitive but you've helped big time. As i turns out, I had all my stuff back to front, no wonder I trashed my sbach 342 this morning, should have seen this first. Cheers mate!

Thanks, Mike did a great job! I assign my rates to the aileron switch as well. Two position flaps are another feature folks miss out on with this radio. Set up is very similar.

This video is still the best video to explain what expo and rates do. I wish that plane was still available. Sadly, the dx6i cannot handle expo or rates programming without going into a brown out. I no longer use my Dx6i for anything but the Small planes that do not use expo. I wouldn't trust a dx6i ever again to fly expo or rates.

The only thing i've ever used a download for was to update the dx8. I have had no problems with any planes where I couldn't figure out what the aircraft needed. The only plane that kicked me in the backside was the parkzone se5. Once I set expo it became a dream to fly. Every plane is different. My buddy and I will buy the same plane at the same time, you can pull them out and each one will fly a little different and take different adjustments. The hard part is where should the initial start

Hello not sure if you still answer to this, thank you for your info. I recently started flying 3D with 0 experience. I don't belong to a club and i have to figure the whole thing out also new to spektrum. Is there a good middle setting where the plane won't go vertical when you bump the elevator. I'll watch the rest here maybe I'll get my answer! 👍

I assigned the dr functions to my elevator dr switch and the rudder isn't following suit. I tried assigning it to he aileron dr switch with the same results. Do you have any idea why the rudder isn't going along with the program?????

Thanks young man. Very nice. But are you able to tell me something? I have converted Spektrum DX6i from Mode 2 to Mode 1 and when I tried to test fly my heli I found that the main rotor trims have changed. When I accelerate the main rotor for lift-off, the servos are behaving out of order. Upon speed increase the main rotor tends to pull left as seen from behind the heli, and when I decrease speed the rotor tends to pull right as it stops. This is more noticeable by watching the erratic tilting of the stabilizer bar. In other words, when both units are switched on, the swash plate is not flat on stand-by, then as I increase the revolution speed of the main rotor the right side of the bar tends to lift up and the left side lowers (tilt) itself. Something has gone wrong with the heli, despite that the DX6i responds properly with the conversion but I don't seem to know if it has also affected the dual rate or, what do you call it when a heli flies upside down with the use of the Mix Switch? Do you know the reason the DX6i and the Blade 400 are now enemies? Do I need to follow your instructions on Dual Rate, or that has nothing to do with the Mode change? So much said about doing your own conversion and then there are unexpected problems with the operation of the heli servos. But I wonder why did they do 2 Modes, why not stick with one Mode and that is Mode 1 because of it's simplicity? Are they going to make another Mode so even dogs can learn how to fly with a new Mode called Finger? It would probably be my last time I will ever buy a Spektrum. Their customer support is really disappointing.
