Infotainment in Mazda with sharp large screen and control knob is superb and big reason I own Mazda . CX-5 should adopt newer wider and more flat knob from Mazda 3 and rest of modern Mazda cars...
I’ve had my new Mazda3 a week and I really like it a lot so far. But one thing that drives me nuts is - I listen to a lot of my music off the USB stick, organized in folders. So if I’m in a specific artist folder and click a song, the screen changes to that song but there is no back button to go one page back - into that same folder. If I want to change a song I either have to use the mini wheel and go one by one to the next song without seeing what’s next or back all the way out of the entire system and start over and it’s frustrating. It shouldn’t be be hard to work on the software to use the back button to go just one “page” back in the folders for the USB.
They need to allow a dragging gesture, like using the joystick as you would a computer mouse. Click once or click and hold to expand context menu. I'm surprised Mazda didn't do more GUI / UX studies to narrow down a nice console / car OS
I just purchased a 2023 CX9 touring model. By far this is most clunky unintuitive system I have ever used. Even the system in the lowest tier chevy equinox I drive (work issued vehicle) has XM built in, accepts 3.0 USB sticks (not limited to 2.0 16gd sticks) and presents on-screen usb info in an easy way to find music. Mazda succeeded in finding the worst way to be cheap!!
The infotainment works great and Apple map works fine I like the fact that street and directions clearly show on head up display but the voice direction is lagging when pairing through iPhone to the wireless CarPlay Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
So it’s absolutely impossible to connect to car play on Bluetooth without having to plug it in Everytime ? For ex I can’t just use google maps app on phone without having to plug-in ??
How do you type an address on Maps through the Apple CarPlay? Since it's not a touchscreen I assume we have to type it through the phone, since I can't see a way of typing it with the rotary wheel. Is that the case?
I finally got the 23 cx5 to play music from a flash drive. Load the iTunes app on your computer; populate it with your cd or other source; pick what you want & download on the usb drive & it should work, mine did. Windows media player would not function at all.😂 Ed c
Why does the CarPlay go in and out while I am driving? I always have my phone on both Bluetooth and Cellular data, as I was recommended… But it kicks me out, so frustrated 😢
I’m sorry for this. Have you tried another cable? Or resetting your phone? I’ve rarely experienced this, and when I did it was because of the phone update.
Hi Jonathan, nice vid! Just one question though..have you tried using the main display of the 2023 CX-5 by gestures when you are in the Apple carplay? It becomes a touchscreen when Apple carplay is on, just like the screen of the bigger Cx-60 :) maybe you can do an update on that as well. Cheers!
How do you turn the radio off without shutting off the Mazda Connect screen? When the volume control knob is push down for a couple of seconds the audio turns off along with the Connect screen. Why? Also, when this is done and the car is turned off and then restarted, the audio comes on AGAIN. Why? The "audio off" on the Source menu does nothing to correct this. Is this an annoying glitch, or am I doing something wrong? I have a new 2024 CX-5 Turbo Signature, top of the line. Thank you
When playing my Sirius radio, through my iPhone, the radio sound just STOPS DEAD and I need to tap the arrow to “wait up” Sirius. How can I do that while driving? It seems dangerous.
2024+ CX-5 has touch screen available but only for Android Auto and Apple Carplay, it doesn't work for the Mazda menus. If you want to use it while driving then you need to check a box in the settings menu for the car.
Jonathan, i hope you can answer something that has been bothering me since I have had my CX5 2023 (LAST 3 MONTHS) 1. When Android auto is connected, bluetooth connection gets disconnected (if connected) and AA gets connected. However, next time when I start the car, the Bluetooth does not connected by itself to play music. It gets connected to answer calls but I need to go into the setting each time to allow the Bluetooth to play music as well. Is there a way to allow the BT to connect for both calls and music after AA was connected the last time? 2. The biggest issue I have is that if AA is connected but the Android Auto screen is not activate on the display and a call comes, the call cannot be answered from either the answer button or the rotary dial. I need to first go into the AA screen for me to be able to answer a call. I also connected apple car play and if a call comes when the Carplay screen is not on, it automatically brings Apple carplay screen up to be able to answer the call but the same does not happen for Android Auto. I hope you can help provide some clarity. Thanks in advance.
Are there buttons on the steering wheel of that allow me to change from one saved radio station to the next to the next and so on? I like to channel surf.
Why is it so impossible to use WIRELESS apple car play with this car? It’s been driving me nuts watching countless videos and reading articles no one Carrie’s around a usb constantly to literally plug into Everytime get in car I can’t believe they haven’t made this system easier
Because they added wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto for 2024. Also, it is now a touch screen for those platforms (not the Mazda software however). So you buy the new car.
@mykelwojcinski Do the buttons on the steering wheel change the XM channels or just fast forward/rewind the live feed? My CX5 loaner required using the commander dial to change channels saved as favorites unlike my Mazda6.
I’ve had my 2023 CX five for 10 days. Infotainment system is consistently turning off and on several times a day. Do I need to go back to the dealership for a firmware update? Do you know of any other fix? Thanks!
Nice to see they fixed that.. I got a 16 and does the exact same.. even when I change the channel after a few minutes it jumps back to previous channel on its own
@@kdomster9141 preferred. Or I just cant seem to figure it out how to connect it. But all the connections are on. Bluetooth and wifi are on but no luck.
Thats the main reason I hate Mazda, neither myself nor my son will not buy one unless this whole drama is touch screen. It is potential danger while driving a car.
I'm starting to hate this car due to the awful entertainment system. WTF are the usb ports in the armrest? Such an stupid design choice and no wireless so if I mount my phone on the dash I need a 10 foot cord and it gets in the way of the cup holder. and that wheel I'd like to rip it out. I would never consider another Mazda
Worst control system of any car ever. You can’t use the control knob without looking at the screen. The knob moves everything on the screen. So Mazda’ s no look idea is total garbage.
Mazda has an ugly entertainment system of all , people buy a car wanna seat inside and enjoy the entertainment system and Mazda made them boring to dead
