Hi, this video shows you how to setup the Amazon Echo Remote. The Remote cost me £20 from Amazon in the UK and it is very easy to setup and works really well. Thanks Vince
I was trying to get one of my Amazon Echos to "forget" this remote so I could move it to another and could not find the answer anywhere! Your video solved my problem. Thank you!
Ok, so I have been trying for MONTHS to pair my 2 remotes to my 2 Echos- one Dot and one Echo- with zero success. Both older versions, I think second generation. I HATE that the remotes have no lights on them so you can’t even tell if they’re dead or not! BUT this morning I decided to try something different and IT WORKED!!!! This is what I did. The first step may have been unnecessary but this is what I did. 1. I turned on Bluetooth on my iPad (or your phone, wherever your Alexa app is) and had it connect to my Echo. 2. I went to the Alexa app, chose my device (Echo), then went to BLUETOOTH DEVICES, which found both of my remotes. One said REMOTE and one said REMOTE 56. 3. I selected one of the remotes and it automatically paired with my Echo, no extra step needed. After I did this, in the Alexa app it finally said “1 paired” under ECHO REMOTE. Needless to say, I was elated!!! 4. I then did the exact same thing with my Echo Dot and the other remote. Now I have two remotes and that work after months of assuming they both died on me!!!! 5. Another important thing that I realized. I kept thinking my microphone wasn’t working. What I was doing was holding it down when I talked… well, you can’t do that- you have to press and release it and then talk. Works perfectly. And don’t say the word “Alexa” when using the microphone on the remote. Just say what you want. 6. Hope this helped! Please let me know if it did!
Keep in mind after setting one remote up with your Alexa device, make sure to unplug that device you just paired before pairing a second one. Otherwise it may get corrupt, unpaired or maybe you received a faulty remote. Recommendation: 1. Unplug one Alexa device and go to the device that you'll be pairing first. Hold the circle button for about 15 seconds or so It's more like 8 until it starts flashing orange. What you're doing here is doing a factory reset which will wipe all remotes and everything at least it should. I believe this just may be the soft reset as I recall a hard reset which wipes everything it's a combination of buttons you may want to Google. As memory serves, I think it's the circle button and the plus button although I may be mistaking so please Google it. 2. After performing a factory reset or even trying a soft reset, go to the device in the Alexa app and pair the remote as instructed on the screen. One successful test it out screw around then simply unplug that bastard. I would also maybe try to yank the batteries out of the first remote as well given that it won't unpair due to not having power going to the remote. Although, worth a shot as the paired remote well not even pop up as an option or show its existence or simply show it as disconnected and switch easier for you to pair your second one just a thought After that take your other remote ( good idea to put labels on them by the way) and do the same process as stated above. I'm pretty confident this will fix your issues. Lastly, the remote 56 you've mentioned is possibly interference from another remote that's maybe connected to a fire stick which I doubt or it could be the virtual remote off of the fire TV app. That's just an educated guess once again I could be wrong. Keep in mind I'm pretty techy, Although not always right as I was trying to pair my fire TV remote with the echo at one point lol. I blame Amazon as I didn't even know separate remotes existed for these fucking things at that point. There should have been a little specific during the setup process with a disclaimer explaining: fire TV remotes not compatible, please purchase a compatible echo remote from our Amazon store and drop a fucking link while you're at it... But na, That's Amazon for you. That would have saved a lot of confusion as I'm sure a lot of people tried pairing a fire TV remote to it while being unfamiliar with the concept at first. That was a long time ago and hey, that's how you learn right? Good luck with your pairing situation, if that doesn't work try something else and then eventually throw it back at them as they tend to have a lot of faulty devices. Like their failed globe looking speaker that is a piece of garbage compared to the echo Dot. As far as generations go, if your echo Dot is full plastic and looks cheap it's first generation. If your echo dot has fancy material around it including rubber underneath and a rubber top (they did that on purpose so you can't mount it on your wall yourself without buying their shit) I have tried many M3 adhesive tapes That were good quality and advertised to hold up to 50 lb. It's a shame that the rubber that they use will not hold anything sticky that's for sure they're assholes
I accidentally removed my remote from my echo thinking I could connect it to my newer echo (the dome). When I realized that wasn't possible, I spent hours trying to reconnect the remote to the echo. I don't know what you said up there that I followed, maybe pairing my phone to the echo, but something clicked AND WALA! A miracle. Houston, we have a connection! Thank you!😁
I’m struggling with this I’m trying to connect the echo remote that came with my fire stick Is it because the fire stick already counts as an “echo” and the remote can’t be connected to two devices or what?

How to get the remote to connect. Take batteries out. Then add the Echo Remote to a cellphone; when added check buttons for functionality. Then remove from cellphone and make sure you select to forget device. Turn off your phones Bluetooth. Open Alexa app and go to device you want to add the Echo remote. DO NOT USE THE REMOTE SECTION TO ADD REMOTE. Open add Bluetooth and select pair. Press down the play button for 5 long seconds. Now wait for a short while and it will probably say something like found unknown device. Select this and wait until it adds the device. I got three remotes to reconnect this way. It seems that the Bluetooth stack gets corrupted and by adding it to your cell first this resolves this.
My setup was not the same as yours. I had to go to the setup menu with in my Echo Show by swiping down, select setting, scroll down to "Device Options", and select Pair Echo Remote", push the play button for 5 seconds, and then it was paired.
In the past week both my remotes have stopped responding to voice commands? I tried calling amazon for advice, but they hadn't any ... Is anyone else having a similar problem? The volume button works, but not the voice button... very odd that it's on both, and at the same time. Very grateful for any information ☺
@@samarittan9308 yes, its very odd. It's as though they just stopped all at once. Very frustrating that nobody in technical departments have any answers 😕
Both my remotes stopped working yesterday. I'm not sure why, but it seemed related to the alexa app which had just updated. I closed out the app, restarted my phone and both worked again.
i hate the amazon echo remotes they have no lights to tell you if they are dead or not or like a sound they play when they have good batteries and are in paring mode its stupid that you have to spend ages thinking it will find your alexa to then turn out you have a broken remote or dead batteries amazon; MAKE YOUR REMOTES BETTER
