great video, I understand this video very well coming from an the associated to the mp10. The kyosho works for my driving style which is more based on finding grip throughout most of the turn, not so much sliding. There needs to be a follow up to this after Reno does some testing.
Great job! Please keep the videos coming. The combination of theory and science with the driving videos to show what happens on the track really ties it together. I like your sense of humor too!
Very interesting video! What was missing in this analysis is the interaction of steer angles of the negative and positive scrub radius. This effects the "jacking". With positive scrub, the jacking makes the inside (read unloaded) contact patch move in z direction, down. The opposite applies to the outside, loaded wheel. This in turn creates a geometric "pro" roll effect in the front axle, which is carried across all contact patches. This in turn creates a greater delta of load on the rear axle from side to side, depending on the roll stiffness. Now with negative scrub, this effect will be reduced or in extreme setups even the opposite. This effects what will happen with the load transfer across the rear tyres. But all these effects are amplified or reduced with higher or lower roll stiffness from both the springs and ARBs. This effect as described above is strongest in maximum steer angle (read mid corner), but will to a lesser degree effect the entry and exit while having lock on the steering. Overall the video is a nice summary, keep them coming!
Hi bro JQ👋👋👋...i just buy JQ Product White Edition today from rc shop..They sell it only USD$196 for an old stock clearence..i buy it because its prokits not rtr..this is an old stock from the shop..Now you have new prokits Black Edition..For me this white edition is also good prokits for track running..Very hard to find the 'White Edition' prokits now but i got it today so im lucky in this world..In your JQ web also didnt sell anymore White Edition, only Black Edition..maybe the white edition production already stop & just only the parts was sell in JQ online web..im happy got this JQ Product White Edition prokits..👍👍👍😇😇😇😇👏👏👏👏
A master class. Nice work. I like the format that you have in collaborating with the best drivers out there. Kudos to your guests as well for being open about their setup up and driving preferences. It takes experts as a host and guests to create insight like this. Keep it up.
Just finished to watch it and the video analysis were super interesting. Great job JQ and Savoya 👍 I think this tech videos/interviews are a win win for the content producer, the rc community and the rc brand represented by Pro Drivers. Too bad for who is missing intentionally this interesting opportunity of collaboration.
This is a really outstanding explanation. I'm only halfway through but have decided that I will probably need to watch most of your videos before I tackle suspension geometry designs.
JQ Haven't been watching yours videos until recently. All I have to say is keep it up belive or not the rc industry needs your content its great for both beginners and experts also entertaining.
love the video JQ. I like how you really go in depth on how a pro drives .... very very valuable information. A follow up video from Reno should be awesome (if he runs your setup suggestions). Keep those videos coming.
I was going to work on my MP10 but this video was so good I had to stop and pay attention. Now I’ve got some ideas to try over here in America 😁. Looking forward to a follow up video!
Nice video this was an awesome watch, really enjoy the diagrams and also the talk interviews. It’s refreshing to see both of you talk more naturally. Looking forward to more videos!
hello, you have already talked about srub radius in the past, and it is a very interesting topic, it is really a pleasure to have you J, who will reveal the hidden secrets of the dynamics of the RC world, keep it up!
The amazing thing about people with ego issues that they can be fired from their own racing team but still have the balls to tell a racer with a job how to drive and how they can improve. If this individual took his own advise he might still have a job. It’s overwhelming how ego can blind people to the point that this video exists.
Great, awesome and super informative video. It is longer, but full of information and i was unable to go out in middle and I must watch it till the end. I am waiting for more videos and for your book, hope it will be released soon.
@JQRacingtv I can tell that you set the bar for Yt content really high. Please keep it up, this is tremendous stuff! May you be for RC racing, what Malcom Wilson is for rallying. Cheers from Portugal
Thank you. If people support enough on patreon then yes. That is really the only way I can make some money back for all time an effort. I will do this for a year and see.
@@invisiblespeedrc you said you´re comitting to a year. Well, I´ll support you on Patreon for that amount of time, using this as aditional motivation to support my own weight financially. Nitro burning included xD Keep going at it, I can´t support you the way iI would like to, but I really do believe in your work. Cassius out
AMAZING video!!!!The best Rc/setup/1/8th scale/ video i have seen ever. The info is spot on..and the "vibe" of the "talk" is also spot on :) Loved it..and makes me want to get back into Rc buggy driving .Thank you .Greetings from Norway ,Stefan
So interesting! There so many things to try! Thanks for this awesome content JQ! By the way, I think a C-hub car with different knuckles and hubs options front and rear would be awesome so we can play with the feeling of the car.
Awesome video. I love the tech stuff, just wish I could actually understand what the effects of a change have on a car. Looking forward to more like it
Agreed with the comments here that there's more info in this video than any amount of setup books out there. Always had a dream to create a pillow ball car with more inward shocks to straighten that fulcrum it has, especially on exit. I feel you can afford to gain some front grip coming out of a corner and be able to wind a little extra negative toe on the rear tyres. Just a pipe dream I guess 😅😅
The pivot ball handling is perfect for me. I can enter aggressive by forcing the car to under steer and once the front starts to turn I can get on the throttle and the car will just turn.
I found this theory on how pivot ball and c hub cars differ and which way the front wheels try to turn when you accelerate and brake depending on the offset of the scrub radius very interesting. This got me thinking could you do a video proveing this theory by simply disconnecting the track rods and driving the car in a straight line then braking. Very curious to see the results
Great video with an amazing level of insight into car design, geometry and setup. This is a must watch for any RC Car designer (copy cat) out there. Oh and I realize I am fu$$ed with my TLR 8ight :D
Really great video, tons of insight on setup. Love this type of content and personality I crave more of it. I’ve only driven pillow ball (Mugen) myself, but am really interested in learning more about C hub and the pros and cons to running either. Oh, and I really want your setup book, any info on where and when to get it?
I love all the tech info JQ! But I think the best part is that you're getting guys on that people think you have a beef with and clear the air. When you getting Drake on?
Awesome insight on the two designs, kind of tied together your previous live discussions on the topic.. So if you want the rear to turn less on power with a mugen, what would you do? Wider hex?
Being that I have an MP10 and MP10e, this video was freakin' awesome! I need to try to understand the longer rear arm vs. inward rear hub thing vs. thin hex. Savoya is also running a long servo horn, so this may be making the steering too quick causing too much rotation earlier. Just my own village idiot 2 cents.
Thanks for this Great vidéo. So interesting interview with our amazing national pro pilot Reno Savoya! Can you do the same in French Because your french seems perfect😉 Anyway would be great to have a video from you about disavantages and advantages of c-hub and balls. Greetings from Burgundy in France
thank you, very interesting! (le bonjour de france Reno ;) ), lol when i think i'm riding a tlr truggy and a team asso buggy it seems like weird after seeing this video :p (I will have to try an asso truggy or a mugen, honestly I really like how the buggy team asso behaves)
Joe.. How about Narrow vs. Wide inner Rear Suspension Pivot point in relation with the Front Steering assembly Type? AE RC8.2 is going back to Narrow Rear Pivot point.
Wow now that was some serious shit , I fucking love it . The way you explained the different options and what they could do are definitely the best I ve ever heard of and seen . Great details of showing the ART of Geometry and what it effects . I need a Beer now and on the weekend I will try some of that stuff on the track . THX JQ the Captain ClubRace is done :)
I’m electric and not nitro so technique is a tiny bit different…. I LOVE to be able to drift… IMO it gives me a little bit more time to position my car or make corrections while I’m in the actual drift. Just a little throttle or less throttle, more or less steer… while in the actual drift, your movements are a little more forgiving. You may loose time while in the drift but… we also loose time turning early with too much grip and having to re-correct can be more fatal bcs you could end up in an unpredictable place… but a drift.. once your in the drift zone it’s more forgiving… IMO…
I read eons ago that reno actually grew up filling his diffs with grease? Equivalent to around 50-75k diff fluid. Would probably explain his high entry speeds just to get the car to rotate. I found that fascinating 😂 i read one of his setup sheets from around the Thailand era and it was 50k-50k-20k or something ridiculous 😂😂😂
Good interview! Is there a chance that you can do a video of the science, of the invisible power! Aka! the importance of the clutch and how without the proper set up tune means nothing! That's my theory! Thanks jq your the man!🕵
Is Savoya running Kyosho now then? I watched a bunch of 2020 stuff, I don't think I saw a single one being run. Sorry, new to watching RC on TV. I have a question, if Kyosho is such a good buggy - what has happened to it past 10 years? I see less and less people racing with Kyosho, yet people still insist it's a good brand. Even long-term Kyosho racers have dumped the brand for others, so if they are so good - where are they? I have 2 old 7.5 platform cars, trying to decide where my next upgrade lies as I move towards racer.
If I understand the pivot ball car needs rear end set in a different way than a C-hub car. And vice versa. But looking at basic setup sheets, Xray has 2019 xb8e buggy with the same rear end setup for both pivot ball and c-hub front end. Do you have any comments on this? Because (unfortunatley) I've got an xb8e buggy with only C-hubs. Any idea what settings could I try to modify? Thanks
So just a question I run the old school Ofna pc hyper 7 it has balls front and rear would the effect be the same as you explain where on power wheels want to toe out.. sense balls are in front and back..
Seems like everyone wants to DRIFT into a corner. Cutting the steering early is a technique used in drifting as it should STAY sideways long enough to reach the turn to drive into it. Stopping and going is a technique used to raise the rear end in order to loose rear traction on purpose to get a sharper turn or slide into the turn. But too much bite or being “in the track” will not allow enough drift.
