How to setup the new Davinci Resolve Micro color panel in less than 60 seconds. This video is for the new Micro Color Panel released May, 2024 and helps users with Apple computers with their iPads. The same tips can apply to Microsoft computers, but with a few different steps to achieve the same results.
First, install Davinci Resolve 19 from Black Magic’s website…sadly the new micro panel will not work correctly in software version 18.
Select either the studio version or the free version.
Open your shiny new version 19 software and make sure to select ‘micro color panel’ in the Preferences - Control Panels - Color Grading Panel
Select Save, then close Davinci and reopen.
Plug in your Control Panel into your computer using the USB-C Cable…the lights on the control panel indicate that the panel is on.
Now open the Davinci Resolve Control Panel Setup app and verify that it recognizes the micro color panel. This program also shows you how much battery power is left on your control panels and if your software is up today.
BONUS TIP!
If you have an ipad, then place it in the comfy ipad holder and connect it to your Mac so you can use Apple’s SideCar to view your scopes!
Make sure your iPad is on the same wifi network then- Select System Settings on your macbook - Displays - and select the + plus sign and add your iPad.
Verify Screen Mirror option is set to “Use as separate display”
Go to the Color Tab - Expand your color scopes from the color page and simply slide them to your iPad.
Enjoy making movie cinema history!
