Today I want to show you how to setup your compressor for paint to get consistent air flow and never worry about your air pressure dropping while painting your project.
The people's champ does it again! Thanks for all the great videos. Unlike all the other channels that say "best small compressor at home spray guns", then run them off pro 60 gallon tanks you actually show how to run on a small tank. Top notch
Very tru I paint with a hf 29 gallon compressor haven't sprayed a entire car yet but it can handle what I use it for even with some expensive guns I have
I've restored three cars already with a 6 gallon pancake compressor. I spray the traditional acrylic lacquer for restoration purposes. I do one panel at a time. The entire paint job on any given car takes about seven days, as I spray it in sections. I know, the words "acrylic lacquer" is practically a swear word to today's painters, and painters who still use it are practically considered alien life forms. With acrylic lacquer, you can literally stop in the middle of a panel and continue painting the next day if you want. You have to cut-and-buff after you're finished, but I consider that "my therapy" :)
First time painter, been watching your videos and purchasing products per your suggestions. Now its time to get to work... Excellent content for a novice to learn...keep em coming...thanks for the info
Thank you. This was what people don't understabd when they start painting.. What goes along with that is "while painting, don't let up on the trigger as you turn back for the next stroke." In your video when you let up on the trigger and the pressure goes up to like 60, the split second you pull the trigger, you will for a split second, get 60 psi at the nozzle instead of the 30 . You can hear this in your video. Each time you pull the triggeer, you can hear a RUSH of air. To correct this, when painting never let all the way off the trigger. Just relax the trigger at the end of a run, but keep the AIR flowing through the gun with out siphoning any paint.
you explain things simply brilliantly!!! Of course the longer your air hose, you'll need slightly more air pressure coming out of the compressor. Also it prevents the compressor running all the time and some water separators have pressure limits. Also ensuring you have no air leaks between the compressor and the gun helps. Top job good sir!! Hello from Newcastle, Australia!!
UPK, I appreciate the jewels you feeding the people. I am working with the same compressor and I was clueless about the set up; until I saw this video. Thank you! #1965Chevelle
Great info UPK. This will definitely help me with losing pressure, I have a small Craftsman 30 gal 5 hp that works well but these tips will up my game. The Peoples Champ at it again with awesome tips. Thanks UPK
Appreciate the info bro! I have a similar setup, with your thorough description of using a small compressor we can know get consistent air pressure and turn out some quality work.
This is pretty much exactly how I have mines setup , for consistent air flow. Dropping pressure is a big problem with smaller compressors with those bigger guns I use and this setup like this has helped dramatically. Good video brother
Comment Dropped 👑 from Grand Rapids Michigan. Thank you for all you do for us DIY garage painters. After watching videos for 2 years, I finally pulled the trigger (no pun intended) and painted two cars this year. Learned a lot. They both look awesome from 5 ft away. Success! Thanks again man. Best wishes to you.

Man great information! Thanks a lot! I have the same compressor and I was worry about it, because I want to paint my truck Toyota tacoma and I wasn’t sure, to use my air compressor to do it was a good idea! Now I know I can do it, Thanks again bro!
thanks so much your video give me a lot of idea today I've been making a lot of mistakes how to adjust my pressure and when I see your video it help me a lot I've been watching a lot of video on RU-vid I could not find anyone like you appreciate you thank you so much I have 33 gallons every time I paint it drops, I we really need some of your help for adjusting my compressor thank you
Thank you! This was the video I was asking for and you delivered. I appreciate you showing the people! Can this be done with a compressor with only one gauge? My small hotdog compressor only has one gauge on it.
Another great video!!! Dude im glad i found ur channel. Can u do a video or link maybe uve done it before to setting up ur paint gun. Spray pattern, flow etc. i know its been covered before but ur better at explaining things then the other videos ive seen. Maybe just touch on what the knobs on the gun actually do. I see some ppl spray cars with the front fan pattern thing vertical and some with that set horizontally.
Thanks Fish I appreciate you…idk if you have seen this video but if you haven’t it might help ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DozQwNMbt7M.html
Thanks UPK Good basic info so we don’t hunt around too much for settings. Is that a high flow air hose? I’ve got a HF compressor also and the summit Lvlp gun, just seeing if a hose makes all the difference also. Getting my garage geared up for some painting and learning experiences 💯
You’re welcome Rusty Ryan I appreciate you checking out the video and the air hose I’m using is the Diablo air hose from HF ( I may be wrong on the name ) along with high air flow fittings…I really like these air hoses!
