I’ve made dozens of bags with the curved & darted corners. Time saver: make a corner template out of plastic or card stock … just trace the curve and dart cutout all at once! I love your videos and patterns - thanks for sharing with us!
I’m wondering which adhesive tape you prefer for attaching zippers? I’ve used Dritz & another brands & found that I must slide (or rub) my finger nail over the tape before removing the covering strip to keep the sticky glue from pulling away from the fabric.
It’s likely not old Dritz stock. I’ve found it’s super sticky to the roll, but not on fabric. And I’ve found it’s very hard to remove the backing without pulling up the tape off the fabric once you finally get it to stick. I am searching for an alternative (in US).
Thank Bergen. Thankfully I have one more productd to try. Let's hope that works. Did you ask me for a book pouch? If you could message me more info, I'll get on to it😀
I tried the Dritz tape and you’re correct - it’s not very sticky on fabric, but I had the hardest time getting it separated from the paper backing. I threw it away! I’ve found Alene’s to be the best for me, easy to peel the backing, sticky enough. The adhesive does get on the needle a bit, but I just stitch on a piece of scrap fabric and that cleans it off.
A great pouch/bag with lots of uses. I find it easier to sew the darts before sewing on the zip. WOW - 37c 🥵 --- 22c 😎 is just about right for me. Thanks for another great video 🤩
I listened very carefully to your measurements....12" x 18"....I now have a massive bag I didn't check with the onscreen measurements. Wondering what I can do with it.....
Sorry about that Huey. I had the correct measurement in the written list on the video. The size you have would be nice as a large boxy bag like the soft snuggly video I did a while ago😁
I liked the zipper lesson, as I'm still overthinking my zips, despite throwing them in blindfolded. Now I have the correct measurements, regardless of my seam allowance. I have a cosmetic bag very similar to this pattern. The sides are more pronounced than this as far as width. The original pattern that I downloaded had squares already cut out for boxing. The first one I made did not sit correctly. I knew it had to be the boxing. So, I took my ruler out and drew the entire bottom to it's original shape. I made one with the extensions, and sure enough, it sat correctly. Then I thought, you can take a square out of a triangular shape. I haven't figured out how to mark it, but I have no problem extending it knowing that my boxing will be correct. Thanks Christine 😊
Hi Christine, Hope you're well. I just watched your brilliant video, as usual. I noticed when you gave the measurements you say 12" x 18" but I think you mean 12" x 8" or it could by my hearing 😂
Hi Christine!! Thats a lovely and super useful wristlet pouch!! You are a master at this art.... sewing !!! It looks soo easy to do when I watch you sew,but not so when I actually start doing a project!! Hope, I can do better soon!! Let those inspiring videos keep coming from you !! Thanks!!
I was very interested in this pouch but it just didn't look right to me. I looked up the 20 X 30 cm measurements and it's not 12 X 18, it's 12 X 8! No problem Christine, I love everything you do!
Nice size and rounded bottom gives a different look. There's the tape.😅 The tape I used turned into a very gummy mess after washing. Even after putting the project in boiling water, it would not dissolve. Ever have that happen? Thanks for another great video.
Love your videos ! You said you were having trouble with zipper tape ! I have found that if I use Isoprpley Alcohol on a wipe I can wipe off the needle and it takes off all of the stickey ! This is what works for me ! I hope it might work you ! Thank you for all the wonderful videos ! Its cold in Californa USA we might get snow this week !
I've used that brand as well. I had the same experience. Several times I'd go and buy a new package, but was never any different. I think it's either made that way, or it sits in a warehouse too long. What ever the reason, I don't use it anymore. By Annie has some I bought, but I haven't tried it yet. There is a YT channel where she has some nice videos.
Question; I have a very basic entry-level machine, I'm concerned about the various places where there is a lot of layers how can you tell how much thickness your machine can handle?
You'd be surprised at how much your machine can handle Ann. I recommend going very slow, and if in doubt, use your handwheel to move the needle through until you learn what your machine and needles are capable of😀
Hi Christine. Are you able to post the link where you get your labels made please? The ones we have pucker at the ends when we sew them on. Yours always seem to sit nice and flat.
So excited to make this, I love the way you explain why you do things aswell. Also noticed you said 12 x 18, but it does say correct measurements in the text. Thank you from misty middle England ❤
Now that’s a cracking little bag! It’s definitely going to be this years Christmas gifts for all the girls. Such a versatile size and totally elevated with the rounded corners. 💖💖💖
Yes Christine, it’s much cooler here on the other side of the world, (eastern shore of Virginia, U.S.A.), at 7:30 am it’s 34 degrees Fahrenheit. I enjoy watching your videos. Thanks !!. 😊
I like how you give such clear direction (verbally, pointing where you mean & close camera so we can see). Thank you. Example: where you stop & start the top stitching by the zipper & tab.
Very nice tutorial. I’ve only made a few bags with the zipper ends but I will from now on because it makes it look so neat and flat. I love how you did the rounded corners too. I’m a subscriber. Love your videos. Hello from New York. 👏👏🧵🌸
Really enjoyed this one. I want to get back into sewing after quite a while of not sewing much so think this will be my first 'getting back into it' project. From a cloudy cold UK!
Beautiful bag, I haven’t seen that curve technique yet with the darts, it’s lovely. And very easy to follow. I will definitely be trying this one. Thank you for your wonderful tutorials.
Love this simple design. The style/technique used is such a great platform to start with and add personal touches - interior pockets, outside focal panels, strap loops, etc. As always, thank you for sharing with us! It's greatly appreciated.
Nice touch with the curved bottom. Wow. It’s hot where you are. Spring is just starting over here in the UK. Fed up with the rain and looking forward to Summer. I can’t imagine what it’s like to have Christmas in the summer lol. Thanks for the video Christine x
