Hi Sue, Thank you so much for the cute headband tutorial. These headbands could also be useful for using with face masks that use elastics. When a button is sewn on each side of a headband you can use the elastic to go around a button instead of the ears.

I have watched numerous headband tutorials, and this one is my favorite!! I don't have that type of elastic though, and I would like to make an elastic casing. How long and wide would my fabric need to be for the casing? Thank you in advance. 🙂

Glad it helped. Casing would be large enough to fit the elastic, let's say the elastic is 1/2" wide. Then the casing would measure 1" wide plus seam allowance. If you want 1/4" seam allowance it would be a total of 1-1/4" wide. Hope this helps

I'd say, make it exactly as I show it (but don't tuck in the 2nd end of elastic) and then try it on the childs head adjusting the other end of elastic to fit. Make a note of the smaller size. If I had to guess I'd say remove 1-2" of elastic, keep the band pattern the same.

Same here. I have what I call, "slick head", 😆 so I use hairpins. You can find clear, plastic hairpins on Amazon, or use cute coordinating barrettes. I hope this helps!
