Thank you for sharing this tutorial! After shopping for a sequin cocktail dress and coming up empty handed, I decided to make my own and had no idea how to handle the fabric! This video has explained so much and now I feel confident enough to finally cut into my fabric, which has been sitting on my cutting table all week, waiting for me to find the courage! Lol
I generally don't mention needle size because I almost always use the same size needle. I only mention when I deviate from it. More here mellysews.com/how-to-choose-sewing-machine-needles/
What a beautiful skirt! Great video, you had lots of helpful tips for working with sequin fabric. I haven't used your method of skirt drafting yet, but I have used another tutorial. It was easier than I realized and makes all the difference when using my own measurements to create a pattern.
This was so helpful, because I got the fabric and didn't know what to do cutting between the sequins did not seem like a great idea turns out I have the small ones, so I was thrilled !!!
Thanks for a great tutorial! I’m half way through mine! Made the sloper and my own pattern from my measurements! You gave me the confidence, I’m so grateful! The sequin skirt part is way too big, but I didn’t allow for the amount of stretch in my fabric. Just have to fix that and I’m all done! It’s exciting!
Yes, when changing from non stretch to stretch fabric you need to take in some, but it's much easier to take in than to try to make something that is too small fit!
Not unless you've completely removed all sequins from the seam allowances and make sure that even the edges of the ones that remain won't touch your blade. It's definitely harder to try and use a serger than to just use a regular sewing machine.
