The sound is clear; the camera work is very good.lear sound and skilled Also, the pace is excellent (I did speed up one notch, but that's just me). Although the colors he selected will not appeal to everyone, the design is interesting and will be appreciated by most quilters. Everyone, from beginners to the most experienced, interested in using this quilt pattern and means of instruction will be satisfied.
I think you are the first presenter I've seen online that shows, and talks about squaring up. Others don't even MENTION it. Which makes me not trust them... It's not glamorous, it's tedious, but it's essential. If beginners want to learn the hobby, they should be shown correctly. So my hat's off to you, thank you.
I absolutely love your videos! I made that quilt in blues and greens for my granddaughter a few yearscago, it was my first real quilt. I love thectwo color version, just beautiful!
Great quilt, nice clear instructions. I love that the bias seams are contained so when sewing the blocks together stretch will not be an issue. Now to search the stash for fabrics to use, I am thinking greens and blues that remind me of the colours of the sea.

Thanks for this tutorial, it's a complex-looking design that is relatively simple to construct -- the best type of quilt pattern. I would take a bit more care with the placement of the HST's, just so you don't have too much of the very light together (or too many very darks/same colours next to each other). Most jelly rolls come with 40 strips, which would make 10 strip sets, each cutting down to 5 squares. which means you'll get 50 stripey HST's. A 6 x 8 block layout would yield a 46.5"x 62" finished quilt. Since I like my quilts a little wider, I might add 5" borders, but maybe just along the sides (or wider along the sides than top and bottom -- like 6.5" side borders with 3.5" top and bottom borders). Just an idea.

A few years ago I started making a fence rail quilt and found it boring. I loved the fabric but the quilt top had gone into the UFO box. Well today I think it will come out of the box and re-cut. I will finally use the lovely fabric in a new way. All I need to do is cut the ready made squares in half. Thank you so much. I do hate to waste good fabric that I like.
jacki elam Great idea! I have the same problem with my fence rail quilt. I’ve only sewn a few rows together, so I’m going to rip out the seams and start again using this pattern.
@@osusanna3619 I love the placement of my fabrics and all I need to do is separate my blocks, cut them in half and resew. Like you I have only sewn half the blocks and a few rows. This is a great way to give new life to all that fabric. Good luck

Sew easy! I love your instructions. I have trouble squaring up my block’s. I have watched several videos. I am sure you can simplify it. Consider making a video on how to square up a block. Thank you 💕
This quilt is basically the same as LUCKY LOG CABIN QUILT except LLCQ uses 5 strips of fabric in the strip sets and the layout is done a little differently. Both versions are fabulous!

I just subscribed to your videos. I've always wanted to make one of these and after 20 years of quilting for some reason it seemed intimidating. But it is not when you show it. Like others have said, now to search through my newly organized stash and find just the right colors. And like someone else I also love blues and greens particularly turquoise and limes. And some purple thrown in there. Thank you for making it look so so easy
Very nice, good job. I think you meant press the seams to one side rather than open though. Pressed open is like an opened book, the seam allowances open like the books pages, one on the left & the other to the right.
Wasn't sure how this was going to turn out, but WOW! It's beautiful! I need some inspiration/ projects to make with all of the beautiful fabric I bought during your Saturday night destash LOL!
